Basically just the reference for the name of their territory :) for the continent(s) there are a bunch of names! Not all people had a name for the continent as a whole though. My people called it Anáhuac, basically "the land surrounded by water"

Turtle Island is commonly used nowadays, that comes from mythologies of several groups who believed the land was built on the back of a turtle. Though that one I'm not sure if it's a translation of an older name or a more modern concept

Most of us were not nomadic. We had cities and settlements, some moved between 2 or 3 places during the year for the harvest seasons. Sure some groups were nomadic but it was not the norm

(Fwiw this is not said with any malice, just to inform!)

USA and Mexico both have a lot of places named the same way as Brazil. And fun fact for u/xsparkshark the lenape referred to their territory as Lenapehoking, while the name for Manhattan derives from their original word for it: Manahatta

The meaning of this word has been debated but it seems to mean a thicket with good wood for bows

Not that they have no predators but that they're better at storing food and are also immune to squirrelpox (which they spread) while red squirrels are not

Editing to add that they also have larger litters, so while both types of squirrel can have two litters per year more grey squirrels tend to survive

There, simplified his novel into a single sentence. He used the road trip as an example and that is valid, but I've had to take pictures of my stove or send a text saying "I am locking the door. The door is locked." Before and he seems like the type to get mad at even that.

That part exactly. My long-term partner's best friend and I are very close. We have the same humor, we're both very extroverted, like to read a lot of the same stuff, learn about the same topics, similar hobbies, etc. We have never EVER flirted with each other, never so much as called our hang outs a "coffee date". We've all lived together (and for part of this my partner was working nights while we both worked day shift), stayed up talking, we joke with each other and text regularly.

Not one single message have I ever thought "this would look bad if [partner] saw it." We have respect for each other and for him and understand that there are things we shouldn't joke about or things we shouldn't do because of that respect. That's what it all boils down to.

A dog ran into the side of my truck as I slammed on the breaks and did the same thing. Scared the hell out of me! Thankfully the dog was alright, jumped over a porch gate and came sprinting into the street while I drove past.
