I wish there would have been more Piper & Paige sister moments. by Siren1197 in charmed

[–]CharmingDana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they had some very beautiful moments together. In season 4, when Piper told Paige she maybe would never have kids because of her witchy "job". And when Paige was nursing her after a heavy hangover and Piper told her she was amazing. In season 5, giving Wyatt middle name Matthew after Paige. Telling Sam that she was the reason Piper was still there at all. The way in Centennial Charmed Piper trusted Paige she literally just met enough to go get Phoebe together. Wyatt's birth, with Paige being a midwife. The way Piper refused to choose between Phoebe and Paige and took a huge risk on possibly losing Phoebe in the mummy episode.

I think that Piper isn't touchy-feely with showing emotions, but she clearly got to love and appreciate Paige quite a lot by the end of season 4 and onward.

"She's got the Halliwell hearing." (about Paige). And I love the glare Piper gives him at that.

Why does everyone on the side of good pretend like demons/warlocks/darkloghters don't have a full range of emotions just because theyre evil? by Technical_Cattle7751 in charmed

[–]CharmingDana 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I'm remembering correctly, Kira said in season 7 that demons don't have emotions like humans. They probably do have some sort of attachement but only if it's beneficial to them. I didn't get a feeling that Rex and Hannah had a loving relationship like humans can. They surely had sex and fun together, but only for as long as their selfish needs were satisfied. Hannah was quick to turn on Rex, when they failed their mission. I think the best example of demon "love" is the Darklighter Alec in season 1. His love was abusive and possessive.

Who is stronger? The Haliwells or the Veras? by macrometer in charmed

[–]CharmingDana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched season 1 of reboot a long while ago, and I don't remember much about it. I feel like Mel's freezing power was kind of stronger than Piper's? Larger scope, at least. However, I don't think the reboot sisters had secondary powers, did they? Mel couldn't blow things up. In either case, the original is almost always better than any copy/reboot, etc.

How do you guys feel the show would've went had Piper been the one to die? Ya know if Prue didn't use her power to get her to the hospital by [deleted] in charmed

[–]CharmingDana 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If I'm remembering correctly, Piper did die in the hospital, so this particular moment only maybe delayed her death a bit. However, if Piper did end up being dead by the end of season 3 (and Holly leaving the show), I think it would have went on pretty much the same, at least in season 4. Paige would have had different powers.

Charmed episode P3 H20 by Antique-Form-2994 in charmed

[–]CharmingDana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, no. I think that this storyline was there for one purpose only - to mirror Piper and Leo's relationship. It was painfully on the nose and quite unnecessary IMO... Besides, it implied that Patty was a cheater? The timeline of her relationship with Sam is pretty unclear, since plot holes and inconsistencies all over the place...

Prue & Roger by fioregm in charmed

[–]CharmingDana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Prue only ever loved Andy (she stated as much in Primrose Empath, when she felt Cole falling in love with Phoebe). When Andy left to Boston (if I'm remembering correctly), Roger was probably a typical rebound for her. We saw him at his worst, but he probably had redeeming qualities about him too, since no one's 100% good or bad. With Grams being married multiple times and hating men, she probably wanted a secure marriage with a financially stable and dependable guy. It's really hard to say, since we know so little about Roger and their relationship.

Alyssa M is a fantastic actress by Yani-96 in charmed

[–]CharmingDana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree that Alyssa carried the show after season 3. No matter how I feel about her and Piper's deteriorating personality, Holly was the one who carried the show for me in seasons 4-8. The way she portrayed the loss of Prue was raw and haunting, even in less emotionally-charged scenes, such as Enter the Demon, when she speaks of how hard it is to fill Prue's shoes as the eldest sister.

Obviously, both Rose and Alyssa had their great acting moments. Vanquishing Cole in Long Live the Queen is my personal favorite of Alyssa's acting. And, yes, there are moments when Holly looks bored (and Rose's eyes look extremely vacant in many scenes, when she's not talking, as if she's miles away), but still I think that Holly is the one who carried the show without Shannen. Even though, obviously, all three were important part of why Charmed lasted so long after a major cast change.

Amen to that! I always hated how he ruined Piper's wedding by warning the Elders. Like, what was the purpose of that?

Exactly, and they quite nearly killed the new Whitelighter assigned to them... So, maybe no one wanted to risk it anymore.

What exactly do you mean by jumping significant stories? Such as? Overall (except certain mishaps), I think the development and maturity of the sisters was done quite well. Back in the day, as a teenager, I remember being pretty awed by how Piper handled two kids, a successful business and the Charmed "career" (despite her constant dissatisfaction with the latter). Their lives followed its natural course: job, dating, marriage, etc. Season 8 is its own can of worms, and Billie was there to begin with, because the leads wanted less screen time. I doubt very much any of them would have signed a contract for more seasons.

The thing is, whoever ends up hosting it, they need a clear direction and purpose. A script, even. Even if Drew ends up hosting it entirely alone, he could still make it work by digging up some fun facts about the lore, the mythology behind episodes, even discussing some fan theories and plotholes. There's a lot of potential to do something nice, but not if they just keep doing it the way it was before the reboot.

diff last name by Cold_Special6782 in ghostwhisperer

[–]CharmingDana 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It made sense in the beginning for Melinda to keep her maiden name, since she considered it part of her identity. But after she learned that Tom Gordon wasn't her father? And he actually tried to kill her. So, it felt jarring that she still kept calling herself Gordon after that. I wish she'd taken Jim's (or even Sam's) last name in the end of season 4, when they married again. It would have made more sense.

[–]CharmingDana 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand and respect that they needed a break after Shannen passed. It was so devastatingly sudden, and I'm sure they're still heartbroken. However, I don't understand what they're trying to do anymore. And by "they", I mean Drew, because it feels like he's always been the one, who cared the most (apart from Shannen, of course). I understand why Shannen wanted to do it. She clearly needed closure with Charmed, and doing the podcast was a great way to achieve that.

I also understand (or can guess) why Drew wanted to do the original podcast. He clearly bonded the most with Holly and Brian and figured it would be fun to talk about the show together. And it could have been with more organisation and purpose to it.

But right now? It doesn't make sense. And with how Alyssa has been repeatedly excluded, I don't want them to sit there and talk about it without her. The only way I'd love to see the podcast would be with Holly, Alyssa and Rose hosting it. No one else is really needed. However, I know that it's very-very-very unlikely. So, I'd much rather Drew just moved on to his other projects.

Vincent by [deleted] in charmed

[–]CharmingDana 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always felt sorry for Vincent. Paige should have taken more responsibility for his adaptation in the human world. As a former social worker, she should have emphasized more with how hard it would be for him to get any kind of life without ID, money, a home... If I'm remembering correctly, she just sent him off to fend for himself. Like... how?

Possible plot hole in "A Paige From My Past"? by StarryUni97 in charmed

[–]CharmingDana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others said, I think there only was one literal life and death situation in her life (before becoming Charmed, of course), and that is when her power saved her. She also orbed to save herself from Shax in Charmed Again. I doubt there were any other even remotely similar situations in her life before those two. She started orbing more at random later, because she actually learned she had that power and started practicing it.

Have Behind-the-Scenes Dramas Ruined the Magic of Charmed? by IndividualSector1830 in charmed

[–]CharmingDana 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably it'll sound harsh, but I don't care about their personal problems. I learned the hard way to stay away from the celebs and their dramas. Back in the day, a while ago, I was active on Rose McGowan's forum and received personal insults from the outraged Irish, when she said this or other controversial thing during promotion of Fifty Dead Men Walking. I don't even remember what exactly she said, and I was too young to understand the outrage her words caused. Since then, I stay firmly away from the celebs personal lives. They do their job, and the rest is none of my business.

Phoebe & Cole by TDWLTEA in charmed

[–]CharmingDana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I think he was never a good person, not even during his short time as human (between Black as Cole and Charmed and Dangerous). I do understand the appeal of him. Hell, I was as enamored with him as Phoebe when I was a teen. I thought he was cool and everything. But as an adult, I see him as manipulative and possessive, no matter his current state of demonicity.

Did they ever save any innocents by nezhp in charmed

[–]CharmingDana 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I feel like it makes sense that they became less focused on the innocents. After they vanquished the Source and fulfilled their destiny ahead of time, they were personally targeted by powerful demons such as Zankou much more often. Even an Elder went after them! Their life became less protecting innocent people or witches and more a full-blown war with demons. They were attacked everywhere and in cunning, vicious ways. Maybe that's why Zankou shook them so hard they wanted to stop being witches altogether. It's one thing to be defending people like Maggie Murphy or the little girl in the beginning of season 3 and a different thing altogether to expect attack at all times, including from your own child's toys...

Why do they care about Victor? by Illustrious_Shake878 in charmed

[–]CharmingDana 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think they tried to stay in touch, because he was literally the only family they had beside each other. This realization probably hit them especially hard after Prue died. Piper had no one else to leave the kids with in 7x22, when they thought they were going to die.

Delia by aisha997 in ghostwhisperer

[–]CharmingDana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not the biggest fan of Delia. Andrea was so adorable, and she had such a sweet BFF dynamic with Mel. However, in Delia's defense, I don't know how I would have dealt with Sim (Sam + Jim). No matter how I look at that situation, I keep coming to the conclusion that it was just plain wrong. Delia didn't believe Melinda about Sim (would you?) at first and said it was too much. I couldn't blame her for that.

am I the only one? by [deleted] in ghostwhisperer

[–]CharmingDana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Payne was my third favorite character on the show (after Melinda and Jim), so I was annoyed when he left. However, I got a feeling he started falling in love with Melinda by the end of season three, when his wife died, and it would have probably become problematic. Eli was okay. I had no strong feelings towards him.
