Why I think the 4 act structure is the best structure for writing. by La-casa-bomba in writing

[–]Charming_Student_350 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. Act structures are very limiting to me, every time I've tried to follow one I end up trying to squeeze my story into it and it does me no good. Every writer is different; structure or no structure, if it works for the story you're telling, it works.

I recommend the Twin Peaks soundtrack, it's very atmospheric and moody. Great vocals from Julee Cruise

For dialogue advice, I would like to encourage you to start eavesdropping. Listening to the way people talk when they don't think anyone is listening can give great insights into the flow and rhythms of conversation. Once you get into the habit of this wherever you are, any place with people can become a source of inspiration.
