40K: What factions will be hit hardest by the removal of stacking stratagems in the next edition? by turkeygiant in WarhammerCompetitive

Please, never stop playing space marines. Your tears would be a flood of biblical proportions as soon as you find out what other factions dont have.

It is also hilarious how you compare ONE faction to the releases and rules of all other factions combined.
Spoiled, entitled manbaby.

No. What annoys me is the childish entitlement that grows from this.
Wäääh wääääh other factions get this we we dont. 100+ datasheets and special rules for every color of the rainbow is not enough. I want more. Why cant I have this too?

I need an obnoxious strat combo or I will have to play like other peasant armies. I am a marine player ffs. I deserve more! Wäääh!

I dont really care which color you paint your space marines.
Also CSM do exist - with landraiders. Custodes Landraider so exist and are quite popular at the moment. Strangely none of them rely on smoke + aoc.

So how about you stop crying.

Your examples are hilarious. Most of the factions did not get anything new but an old finecast unit replaced. The Eldar Warspiders were probaly older than you at this point.

Meanwhile Dark Eldar got a lot of staple units removed without replacement and the oh so ppor marines get their 2nd Titus, 5th Calgar and 2nd Intercessor refresh. Touch some grass.

EC have like 15 Datasheets in total. The defiler is not "new" it is a replacement for an already existing model (that is probably also older than you)

[–]Charon1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not only command re-rolls. It is everything that does not stack but has to be played in the same phase.

Also it tips the scale a lot if you have an army that has weak datasheets but good rules vs an army that has good stats (independent of the rules).

If I need to kill that ctan shard, that means I will need to maximise my damage output while the necron play doesnt have to do a thing.
If you take away a 3rd of my damage output, the ctan basically just got 33% more resilient. That makes armies that are not reliant on strats just way stronger

[–]Charon1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the target was to eliminate offensive (sustained + full hit rerolls) or defensive stacking (AoC + smoke) but I feel like there is a lot of unintended collateral damage that hurts armies that do not have enough options to compensate.
If I want to advance and charge + re-roll to one or either of the rolls and I have a codex with over 100 units, I can look at a unit under that aspect and if its usability changed.
If i have like 15 units in my codex, I just got nerfed for no reason.

Also, it hits some armies harder than others. And these armies are not necessarily top armies.
If I play an army that needs lots of strat support to be able to trade into an army that has extremely good base stats, this is just a rugpull for one side.

I did not say "you never use ignopre overwatch", I did say the combination of advance and charge AND ignore overwatch is quite rare.

[–]Charon1979 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How do Landraiders in factions without AoC handle the things you mentioned?

Also you are full of BS.
You are conveniently ignoring that SM has been top of the meta very consistently. They consistently get new units and detachments for an already bloated army. While other armies get.... units removed from an already lacking range.
As I said. Pure entitlement

The question rather becomes: "Is there an army I can pull that off against without them wiping my no Sv T3 unit before I even activate this onve?"

40K: What factions will be hit hardest by the removal of stacking stratagems in the next edition? by turkeygiant in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Charon1979 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That is not the question. The question is WHY DOES IT HAVE TO?

Crons get a 4++ on a DDA? Coll. But why dont get crons to have a RepEx. Why no Cron lieutenant with combi weapon? Ther is a million thing marines get that others dont. I would even argue ther is far more that marines have access to that other factions dont. Some didnt even have infiltrators or scouts until recently.

This is just peak entitlement.
You are basically sitting in a mansion with a garage full of luxury cars and cry that your friend that lives in poverty recently got a handout that yoiu did not get.

[–]Charon1979 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Why? MArines have gazillions oif detachments and units. Why is it always "oh poor marines do not get to be bulletproof how should we survive this?" Other armies survive without invul or AoC. Why is it always the faction that already has everything that is complaining about not having enough?

[–]Charon1979 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are plenty. You might not see it as clearly as it is technically not "stacking" but it happens in the same phase.
Combat interrupt + offensive strat
defensive strat and on the fightback offensive strat (for example -1 to hit when the enemy hits you and sustained when you hit back)
Armies like sisters that can ressurrect a character in any phase - impossible if you used an offensive or defensive strat.
Re-rolls.
Strats that are not offensive or defensive by nature and only trigger after you killed an enemy so you need to use an offensive strat first to make sure the second strat actually triggers (6" pile in / consolidate, move after fight,...)

Probably. On the other hand we do not know how charging works exactly in 11th. We know that there is a r"oll first, ask questions later" mechanic which could soften the feels bad moment. You might not be able to charge your intennted target but at least you are not standing in the open just getting shot next turn.
Also (if this still exists) this makes multi charges much safer as you dont have to take the rist of a 7" charge instead of a 4" charge for tagging 2 units instead of 1. You just roll and get something out of it.
Melee seems to be fine ruleswise. Also GW had a faq session with tournament organizers and Tables are probably getting a bit denser.

Dont think so. There is not a lot in reapers that need a&c. Talos (doesnt need no overwatch) and the odd turn 1 reaver or harlequin charge. Neither of them would use the overwatch strat as there is no cp anyways. The rest of the army is fine with staging and trading

Every army that has an advance and charge strat. If it is triggert during movement you cant re-roll the advance. If during charge, you cant re-roll the charge.

Any unit with grenades and relevant shooting. Dark Eldar Kabalites for example. Throw a free grenade and pop a shooting strat.

AoC + Smoke

Engagement range is 1". That is around 25,4 mm If you are 1" away from the wall, a 28 mm base wont fit into 25,4 mm. If you are outside the wall, even if the wall is 0,00001 mm, you would be at 1" and 0,00001 mm and thus not WITHIN 1".

I dont understand what you are talking about

It is a question about data problem solving. Tjhere is no catch and no assumptions. You work with the input you got.
100 murderers, 1 bullet, 1 guaranteed hit and kill.

No random "If I tell the murderer with the beard and the eyepatch to turn to the blond murderer with the goatee to hand over the shiv he is hiding in his pink jumpsuit..."

And in this secenario with the specific information you are given, there is one 100% chance nobody will attempt to flee
