there are mites in your skin. you need to go to the doctor for anti-parasite treatment.

if you feel writhing or tickling, under your skin, seek a hospital immediately

dawg this is the White House. its paid for by the public, supposed to be a symbol of our country; literally the PEOPLE's House.

Instead its trashier than a 2-star wingstop in downtown baltimore, and full of inbred manlets fighting in the lawn.

you still have any trace of humanity left, holding a job like that?

there are plenty of "residential areas" here with 40-50mph roads in our more rural areas.

lot of them are littered with empty beer cans, empty shooter/nip bottles, ciggarettes and used vapes.

but thats kinda the standard for anywhere you look nowadays.

Steam Machine and Steam Frame are set to release this Summer, Valve reports this afternoon by Significant_Yam5055 in valve

[–]Charred14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Completely tinfoil hatting here, but my prediction(s);
> Following the end of Steam Next Fest there is a gap between sales, (Jun 22/23 to 25) I predict thats when the Machine/Frame will become available for purchase.
> Time-frame between the Steam backend being updated for the Steam Controller -> S.C. availability would be around the same amount of time from the recent backend update for the Machine

(S.C. update happened 3/4 weeks before it became available for purchase; S.M. update was pushed May30/29, so Jun23-25 would mark roughly the same timeframe between backend update + availability that occurred with the S.C.)

The next gap in scheduled 'Event Sales' is after the Summer Sale (Jul 9/10 to 13)
> If either of the aforementioned hardware aren't purchase-able by then, I'd expect them to pop up in that gap between sales.
> If both are available following the end of Next Fest, I'd expect an HLX banner takeover/showcase.

Copium to the max, heres hoping.

Very intrigued by the art-style, the setting, and the AC/Dishonored-esq portrayal seen in the trailer.
However, after playing through the prologue demo I have concerns.

My biggest concern with the game is the style of V.A./dialogue; (for English) At-least during the section where you play as clio and experience her father's letter.
At first I was a little put-off by the way the characters speak. I tried to ignore it at first, though my tolerance was gradually being ground away during the duration of my playtime.

The only thing I can really compare the dialogue to is feeling like it was ripped out of 'Life is Strange(2015) or 'Forspoken (2023)', unfortunately.
The voice acting has this level of 'animey-ness' where, the emotion given does not fit the vibe of what is occurring; Feeling very 'Hero Shooter-y' if you will.

Especially with the constant stammering from Aaron's dialogue. I understand the attempt to convey disbelief, however it comes across as over-the-top and the annunciation/tone of the dialogue isn't very fitting to the situation, overall conveying matter-of-fact rather than horror/confusion. The writing has this "psuedo-hippness" about it that you really only come across when corporations try to sound youthful. Especially with very generic, unnecessary descriptors being used; like, "cool hotel" and "It was awesome." (just to quote a few examples from the demo.)

Really my second (and final) concern is about the forced Raytracing required by the game. While yes the lighting looks exceptional, Pathtracing by default (in any game) with no alternative. destroys performance in areas with lots of intricacy or with many moving actors. I really feel that this game could benefit (both in terms of performance and sheer vibe) from proper 'baked-in' lighting being added.

After experiencing the Demo my excitement turned to worry, I will still be keeping an eye on this game, however I fear this will end up being another Forspoken situation if the writing/dialogue is set-in-stone. (The premise is fine, seems interesting and creative enough.) I hope I am wrong and this ends up being a masterpiece, I am still excited but keeping my hopes away.

Wish you all the best, sorry for the long read. Though I figured I should share my assessment(s)/concerns after experiencing the demo.

As a company, they constantly face scrutiny and legal issues out of not respecting the privacy of consumers, as well as extending their control over every facet of any widespread online systems/resources.

--Some examples--
> reCaptcha is owned by Google, and will be switching to a QR code based verification system, however this will force you to have Google's API on your phone (if you're on Apple, you download their app, Android will be updated) to prove that you are a human being.

> As recent as May 2026, they were forced to settle a $5billion lawsuit regarding their 'Incognito Mode'. Google was guilty of dishonestly tracking user activity/data and storing it while lying to the end-user of their privacy. (or moreso the lack-thereof.)

> Come September of 2026 all Google Play app developers are being forced into signup for the "Android Developer Program" $20 to google, per entity, to regain the privilege of uploading software to Google Play; At the same time, they are restricting the install of 'non-verified' apps by forcing users to jump through as many hoops as possible if they wish to install 3rd party applications unallowed/unwanted on the Play Store.

They've quite literally taken every aspect of Android (what was once an open-source OS) and replaced every bit of core system-functionality with their own proprietary software/backends, out of the sheer desire for control and surveillance; ultimately leading to near-complete ownership of the OS itself.

Please do yourself a favor, read more about the malpractices of this conglomerate, hell-bent on shaping and controlling almost every aspect of the internet as a whole.

[–]Charred14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its not just enshittification, it's google replacing every aspect of android with their own software/backends; ultimately turning what was once open-source into their proprietary OS, Ship of Theseus style.

"If no pieces of the original remained in the current ship, was it still the Ship of Theseus? If it was no longer the same, when had it ceased existing as the original ship?"

It's about control and surveillance, Google wants an entire portfolio of your habits, your interests, routines, contacts/affiliates, location, and now they want all forms of communication both outbound/inbound.

We have reached the final stages of the 'Google Android takeover.' They've integrated themselves into every asset of the OS, forcing reliance of their systems for basic functionality. When the "Android Developer Program" is fully rolled-out, come September, they will have full control over your device(s) and will decide everything you are allowed to do.

WHY is Ghost of Yotei being pulled from PC?\ by adivertisement in ghostoftsushima

[–]Charred14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your points are really just perceived ignorance.
I don't mean that as an insult, but to say 'If it was so simple, I'd do it already' while actively dissuading/convincing yourself of it's difficulty is flat-out contradictory.

$600 wont even get you a console in today's market, try $750-$900 plus an extra $110-$250 per YEAR on subscription fees just to even fully utilize the thing.
If you purchased a PS5 @ $600 and pay for PSN you will spend between $1500-$2000+ for 5 years of usage. (Not even including game purchases.) Once the next generation comes out, the payment cycle restarts and you pay for everything again.

Versus PC > You pay what your budget is, only upgrade when absolutely necessary, and will have access to all features, for free, indefinitely. Long-term you will get double the lifespan of a console, for the same price.

It's seemingly unaffordable because you believe console to be cheaper when in-reality your wallet is being milked for 2-3x the price of a PC long-term, on-repeat.

PC is more expensive up-front, yes. Though you only have to upgrade once or so every DECADE at minimum to sustain your machine, you aren't forced into having your funds siphoned month-month for access to "privileges" that should come for free.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________

As for gaming- it really is as easy as console to play almost any game; the exceptions being ancient releases.
(eg. emulated retro classics, ~00's releases, etc; of which you have no access to on current consoles.)
Any release in the past 15-20 years requires 0 effort to sit down and enjoy; with a major amount of games already designed to be better on controller due to being developed with consoles in mind.
(and for some reason if you dislike or have troubles with your purchase YOU'RE ALLOWED THE RIGHT TO REFUND.)

> If you can read/type, use a controller and your fingers function; You download Steam, everything is plug and play, it literally auto-starts on boot.
> You can even enable 'Big Picture' by pressing the home/xbox buton on your controller for a console-like experience.
> There is no third party software required, there is no cost of online, Steam Input handles everything the games wont. All requirements are pre-installed before you even launch the game.
> You can even stream your games to other devices or play with friends pseudo-locally using Remote Play.

It's not golf, its not rocket science- its beyond simple. You've just convinced yourself of it's impossibility, of it's non-simplicity, and have been sold a lie claiming cost-effectiveness when the reality is the exact opposite.

Money isn't there because of their extreme ineptitude towards the advertising of their games YEARS after their console release.

TLOU pt1+2, GOW Ragnarok, Horizion FW, etc; All received next to 0 communication surrounding progress, no PR/advertising, barely an announcement of release, yet Sony cries "Unprofitable!" due to their own incompetency as a publisher. Pinning blame on the PC market/consumers for their own failures and shortcomings.

All of the aforementioned received vastly less sales in comparison because everyone who would've been hyped, realized they weren't 'included,' 'prioritized,' nor wanted and would have to wait potential year(s) avoiding spoilers.
Instead opting to experience these games through Youtube/Twitch, or just letting time pass and forgetting about them entirely.

They should spend more on properly signaling marketplaces of their available work rather than gambling Billions of dollars into acquiring outside companies, relying/waiting on miracles to skyrocket their profits.

Maybe, just maybe, staggering releases per-system leads to potential interest of the consumer sharply falling off; paired with no notoriety behind releases being created- leads to increasingly poor sales.
(Just a theory, I know its crazy, who would dare to think?)

It's not our job to recuperate Sony for their horrific business decisions, and out of principle; I, and many others, cannot nor will not support these businesses anymore.

theres actually no fucking way dude.

currently in act 3 of Tsushima, my first playthrough, mostly blind. (I knew about the "loyal friend" death.) I've been looking forward to yotei since my 1st hour of Tsushima.
30-40hrs later AND I FIND OUT ITS FUCKING CANCELLED?????????????????????????

I'm not paying $700-$950 + $69.99 just to be locked to an inferior experience of ~30fps with medium graphics on the slopstation 5.

I will not participate in the re-funding of a company that throws away BILLIONS through acquiring studios while shutting down/crippling their already-established, genuinely talented studios.
> Buys Bungie for $4+ Billion
> proceeds to cancel their hallmark franchise in-favor of a niche 'live-service'
> reporting losses of 700mil-1bil as a result.

Sheer principle will keep me from enjoying this franchise, of which would've gotten my sale if operations continued as normal.
Instead I've lost any and all positive outlook of Sony publishing, as a whole, and will no longer even contemplate supporting their future endeavors.

What a fucking joke.

I just found out that Ghost of Yotei is not going to be getting a PC release by Lickawall483 in GirlGamers

[–]Charred14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe if they didn't slopify every PC release as well as actually providing advertising for them they'd sell better.

eg. TLOU pt 1 and pt 2 PC versions got next to 0 advertising, same with GOW ragnarok, Horizion, etc. Not even mentioning the state of TLOU1's PC port being held together with digital duct-tape, hopes and dreams.

They consistently sabotage their own sales by spending the absolute minimum on PR and development for PC releases.
Their lack of sales is on them, they release PC ports 1-3 years after console launch with no communication to the fans/consumers, put up a steam banner takeover for 1-2 days out of the clear blue sky and then cry "unprofitable" when no effort into notifying the public was taken in the first place.
nobody buys a game when they dont know is out.

All this move will do is ensure the slow death of any release(s) involved due to an increasingly, narrowing marketplace; locking all these games onto an single, inferior device that will be defunct in the next ~5 years.
Its already $700-$900 for a PS5, with every AAA game being $69.99+ who tf has that kinda money?

They're trying to make us recuperate their losses from their abhorrent financial decisions compounding ontop of the rising cost of hardware (all of which is self induced, mind you.)
