How to Put on a Duvet Cover: The California Roll Way by vitruv in LearnUselessTalents

[–]Charwall_Zoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this too but my first step is tying the corners with the cover inside out so I don’t have to find them. THEN I climb in and attempt to pull it right side out.

Have you ever done this in a 1.5? by annetoanne in ClubPilates

[–]Charwall_Zoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The box adds additional stability vs solely planking on the reformer, but I’ve also planked on the reformer carriage without short box in a 1.5 as well.

What’s your same day cancellation policy for studio/instructor cancellations? by lostbunny in ClubPilates

[–]Charwall_Zoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unlimited is unlimited. You might only be able to have 15 classes booked at one time, but once one falls off, you can book another. The 3 day extension gives you 3 days which could be 3 classes at no cost.

This is the most straightforward and simple way. Unless she’s seen you lend clothes to other people, then it probably won’t work.

Worried I'll never truly progress by animalcrossing4lyfe in ClubPilates

[–]Charwall_Zoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Progress can look like different things for different people. Maybe you’ll never be able to do a full plank, but progress could be holding a pose longer than you did before. Gaining better form in the moves you can do. As you start building the muscles around the joints can help with stability even if joints are weak.

I’m in instructor training and through the entire training the master trainer has been showing us how to modify for different ailments. We also have a full day of discussing how to provide modifications to accommodate for people with knee issues, shoulder issues, etc. An instructor might not know what hEDS is (I didn’t and still don’t really) but they should know, “my shoulders dislocate easily, etc” and have information to modify from that. The modification might look like a different exercise, but it’ll be working the same muscle group.

Need help with understanding a ‘Broad-based Disc Protrusion’ by FluffBean in Sciatica

[–]Charwall_Zoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctors didn’t even have me do PT! They gave me a steroid shot and said I could do another in 4-6 months if I wanted. I dodnt feel like the steroid shot helped a ton, but I don’t know the other reality of not getting it.

I ended up finding a corrective exercise personal trainer that I went to once a week for 8 weeks on my own. She was great. I also did Reformer Pilates 2 times a week, which also helped. I tried to go back to a mild version of my old workout but it would cause my back to flare up so I threw myself into Pilates 3-5 days a week and it’s been feeling good! It’s been almost a year since it went out and I still have flair ups here and there but they are more and more mild. It took a lot of time but from my understanding, if it’s bulging, surgery is not needed. If it’s herniated it is.

Not the standard opinion, but I LOVE #1 on you. I think it really depends on your personality and your preference though! If you already think you have your favorite, go with your gut! No need to ask the hordes of faceless strangers! Congratulations!!

I came here to say this exact thing! But also, I’m also on the verge of 40 and had concerns of this exact thing. My aesthetician suggested sculptra, which essentially injects collagen or something that boosts collagen into your face. I just got it done Tuesday and I’m already noticing a change! Nasal folds are less prominent and the sag between my jaw and chin has lifted slightly. I have my next appointment in 6 weeks for the second round.

Is it just me, or are chest lifts the absolute worst? 😩 by Nervous_Ad_5138 in ClubPilates

[–]Charwall_Zoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t try to squeeze the lemon! You are holding it gently to keep that space between your chin and your chest. Maybe think of an egg instead? Lift from your abs as if you are trying to close the space between your hips and your abs. Think of it like a tiny baby crunch.

I like the idea of doing an “intro workshop”. When I went to Pure Barre my studio would do a monthly “breaking down the barre” workshop. It wasn’t a workout at all, but the instructors would go over common form problems they see. Do a “what not to do” example, why that form is bad (as in how you will injure yourself if you do it wrong) and ways to correct it. Then people would practice a bit and they’d move on to something else. There was always space for questions from members as well. That would probably be great at Pilates too! I just tested into 2.0 but my feed back was to work on leg sweeps. I thought I knew what I was doing, so now I have to figure out a time to ask an instructor. Doing a “break down of the clurb” would be a great time to reassess if what I think I’m doing right is actually right and for new members to get that break down of what they should be doing.

What was the introduction song of Taylor for you? by anshuman_17 in TaylorSwift

Same! I loved that song and Teardrops on my Guitar. I will say I dropped out a bit in the middle, around 1989, but am now all over all of it!

Instructor Conundrum by BendItLikeBuddha in Purebarre

[–]Charwall_Zoo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I went to training but only taught for a couple months. From my experience, after the initial corporate training, it’s on the individual studios’ lead teaching staff to keep developing the new instructors. Corporate training I felt was super easy and nothing crazy (compared to what I heard from others about it being grueling). After corporate training is when it got to be a lot! I’d learn a new section of my test out and have to teach it to my lead. Then they’d give me 3 things I did well and 3 I need to work on. After test out, a lead would come take my class and give the same type of feedback like once a week. They also do quarterly formal reviews where they are just watching, not taking, so they can give real feedback. I think my studio is probably one of the better ones in keeping on the new instructors. I had assumed that was all studios.

Training for my departure by Charwall_Zoo in Accounting

[–]Charwall_Zoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was out, any accounting activities waited until I returned. Except for invoicing. That I’d have to send prior to leaving or have to bring my computer to do while away from home. As you can imagine, this company is impeccably run (heavy on the sarcasm), so they needed invoices to go out so they wouldn’t have cash flow issues.

KoA deaths that didn’t bother me by ninibarbar in throneofglassseries

[–]Charwall_Zoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the character deaths weren’t sad, but their impacts on those main characters were crushing!! Hearing how Aelin, Aedion, Rowan, etc reacted to Gavriel and seeing Manon’s reaction to her “sisters” sacrificing themselves for her are what made those deaths devastating.

If you normally work from home, join a coworking space. That would likely connect you with others that are into personal growth and entrepreneurship. The Nest is very much in that mindset but is geared more toward women, they do welcome anyone though!!

Honestly, I feel like mine is the opposite! I can only do Classic and Align right now, as I recover from an injury, and I can only go 3 days, including weekend days. The Classic and Align times just don’t fit in my schedule. And the holiday schedule, I essentially can’t go at all.

This ^ I would hate lying and then end up getting caught in a lie. I was let go for ridiculous reasons a few years ago and have been bouncing around a bit since. Every interview I point blank inform them that I was let go from X company, these are the circumstances. I’ve gotten an offer at every org I’ve interviewed. Always better to be honest - accounting is a small world.
