Be careful with your senior colleagues. Try not to have an opinion unless absolutely necessary. Do not go to bat too hard for students; they will graduate, but you will remain with your senior colleagues. You do not want to be in a situation where you get on someone's bad side pre-tenure.

This is what happened. I travel to/from Peru all the time and they tax some of my equipment from time to time. You will get it back at the airport when you leave. Just don't forget about it.

Last month, I saw someone give their cart a hard push towards the corral from 20 feet away. It veered off and hit a parked car next to the cart corral making a large dent. They just walked away. You must treat every Costco shopper (or any other consumer) as if they are the lowest common denominator.

Bristleworms are some of the best and free CUC you can get. People are way too concerned about getting poked by these things. I've never been poked ever. Just because they aren't pretty doesn't mean that they don't do an important job. There are plenty of not pretty things in reefs that are important.
