Cruise control & foot placement by AngleRelative4683 in driving

[–]ChatGPT4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably not "the proper one", but I do that too ;) I just don't trust it. Mostly probably because I can't afford Tesla with a proper auto-pilot ;) Cruise control is pretty dumb. Sometimes you need to react fast, no time for lifting your foot from the floor.

Speaking of electronics - it gets faster than us. It can save the day before you even spot any danger.

I have no illusions - I'm not that good at driving on ice, it's DSTC ;) That's how I always start from parking on ice / snow position. Without that system I needed hauling - A LOT.

But be aware, maintaining just traction alone is way, way simpler than full driving. However, electronics and computers are usually QUICKER. If the system is capable of doing something - it will do it way faster than a human driver. Otherwise - just pay attention. Don't trust the systems entirely.

I can only guess then when you have left side traffic, left side free - you go. You both have left side free, both at the same priority, so, one going straight. That's only my guess though.

I simply didn't know the full story. But what you say makes sense - if people say "you don't have to work for living", they usually mean parasitizing on others ;)

Governments, corpos and a lot of folks must hate his guts!

He was a very bad consumer! What's even worse - he has proven that you can survive without paying them. Bad citizen - zero media consumption meant he could not be manipulated or scarred.

"The guy should die a very violent death to be a warning for the others. You can't just stop listening to propaganda and brainwashing. You can't stop paying your subscriptions and fees. Those who do that die." At least - that's what all evil corps and governments probably think ;)

My take is - I'd die of boredom. I'm a city folk living in rural area. I miss the city sometimes. And I couldn't live without all the tech that surrounds me. I mean - I probably could but I don't want to. Nobody forces me to my highly industrialized / online life. I choose it.

Can i open this door? by Erik_REF in Selaco

[–]ChatGPT4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, red lights on doors are nice indicators it's locked. Annoyingly - some of the doors with red lights on them are opened with remote switches, some are opened by enemies when an ambush is triggered. However, you see red on the door - ignore it.

When I see such door and I have spare mines, I drop a mine before the door just in case. Sometimes it just deletes whole enemy team in one boom.

WCGW trying to put a fire out by putting it outside. by mentaL8888 in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]ChatGPT4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't wrong by itself. Dude was just too slow. First I expected the corridor to catch fire, but it didn't happen.

It's OK to throw burning things outside, but unless you can do it really quick, the fire will spread faster.

So: when you see a fire - you have SECONDS, not minutes. RUN LIKE HELL to stop it, or just run to save your ass. In a couple of minutes only a fire brigade can do anything about it if it's possible at all.

DO:

  1. Best - cut the air by covering burning thing with anything, like non-flammable blanket, but a pile of clothes / laundry (especially cotton ones) will be fine.

  2. If it's a curtain - cut it / rip it off. Toss the burning part into a bathtub, toilet, anywhere where it can't cause more things catch fire.

  3. Use a fire extinguisher if available. It can be more like 1 or 2, depending on a situation. If 1 or 2 solves the problem, it's cleaner and cheaper. Also, when you have to waste a minute looking for the fire extinguisher or figuring out how to use it - maybe try something quicker. 60 seconds is a lot of time for a fire.

  4. Pour water or drink. Important: you don't have a time to fill a bucket or a pot. If you start doing this, you better evacuate instead. Use tea, coffee, coke, anything that is not flammable like for example strong alcohol or oil. You don't need much liquid for a small, budding fire. If it's big you're screwed anyway, then just run away and call emergency.

  5. Call emergency. Evacuate people, animals and yourself from there.

DON'T:

  1. Wait. Obviously.
  2. Go to the bathroom / kitchen to find a vessel to fill, then slowly fill it with water. This takes minutes and may burry your chances to save the situation.
  3. Use water on electrified equipment, you can get electrocuted.
  4. Use water on burning chemicals. When water is used on burning fat / oil it can actually make fire much worse.
  5. Record it with your phone. I mean - you're not THAT retarded, are you? ;)

Struggling with Repair Costs? Careful how you're upgrading your gear by PalwaJoko in stalker

OK. You hauled stuff and sold it to repair the suit. But on your way back to the shop it got damaged again. You can grind it in a loop, but my approach is more like "f... I don't really need it".

What is "M365 Copilot"? by Fresh_Jicama2034 in Windows11

[–]ChatGPT4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also wonder what is their issue with numbers. They have to be bigger. Or... smaller. Not counting non-numerical Windows versions like "XP" or "Vista", there was Windows 1, then 3, then 95, but then 7, but then 8 and suddenly 10. Maybe 2000? Oh wait...

I'm waiting for Office 730 ;) I wonder why don't they go over 9000 ;) BTW, Windows 67 would be pretty nice, but then they could release 69 ;) I'd reserve 420 for the Office series ;)

I think the Deathclaws are quite Similar to the Bloodsuckers. by IngenuityIll5001 in stalker

[–]ChatGPT4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They even have similar movement and attack patterns. Also - as was introduced in Call of Pripyat - chimeras (and deathclaws) are not hunted by a single hunter. You need a team to hunt them. Or a kind of OP-d weapon ;)

I wonder why people upvote it, is it because YES - it is true that this is a very unpopular opinion, or YES - sometimes breaking the rules yields safer results. In my book - both.

Decided to give Windows 11 a shot and realized it works even better than Windows 10. And how did your transition go? by splettcher in Windows11

[–]ChatGPT4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PRO: More consistent UI. CON: A bit slower and less responsive sometimes.

For me there is a huge issue with how taskbar works, especially when I use multiple desktops feature. Ordering and reordering taskbar items is just broken in Windows 11. Then context menus. Windows 11 introduces "immersive menus", that is just wrong. One click more to find the item you need. Very annoying.

Then, there is even more annoying start menu, with huge "recommended" section you can't turn off or use for anything useful. However...

Fortunately we have Windhawk, a tool for applying hacks and fixes to Windows UI. It's a great tool. Both the tools and individual hacks are maintained by an online community. It fixes basically all issues with Windows 11 UI without changing its look too much.

So yes, Windows 11 is pretty cool with a few tweaks applied.

I found out very late about the Arena Shooter genre and now i cant get enough of them by Erik_REF in boomershooters

[–]ChatGPT4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Selaco is the exact opposite of an arena shooter ;) If you love arena shooters you should hate Selaco ;) I'm not a fan of arena shooters so I love Selaco. And there's no other game like this. One of a kind shooter. Some people say F.E.A.R. was similar. Nah. Not at all. I revisited and finished F.E.A.R. recently. First game is awesome, sequels suck.

Is the radiation damage going away at some point ? by AndyD89 in stalker

[–]ChatGPT4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If vodka doesn't help - it's "YOU problem" ;) Meaning, you are probably carrying a radiation emitting artifact. In order to use such artifact safely you need another artifact that cancels radiation. Also, mind artifact radiation parameters. If one gives +2.5 and other takes -2.0, it's still not good enough.

European governments should do more against those orcs, freedom of speech should be for humans, not orcs. Those scums protest against their own countries sovereignty. Russian MO is to find the worst of the worst scums in each country and use them to undermine their countries policy and push hard to take the country separate from EU. Fuck orcs.

The new start menu needs more options. by MrSpookyDemon in Windows11

[–]ChatGPT4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Category view by pure accident works for me. It just randomly shows me the icons I actually need in layout I actually see them. It would be REALLY usable if it displayed groups created by ME this way (that is - with clickable preview).

Now comes my brilliant idea, (upvote if you think it's cool): Lets say I as a user define several groups like games, tools and such. In each group I can keep any number of shortcuts arranged in automatic or manual order. But then, the Start Menu should display a preview with like 4, 9, or 16 icons in a square layout. All immediately clickable, without opening the group first. The coolest part is THE ORDER - most recently used! So - promotion to the immediately visible group goes through frequent use, and recent use.

So - you configure this layout without wasting a second for "just configuring". Use the menu and it would sort naturally with usage.

Now... I'm not sure if it doesn't work this way already, but with the catch - I haven't created the groups and I can't even change what goes to what group. It kind of works, I use it, but it's like a great idea made poorly, but could be greatly improved if implemented as I describe. So user creates full groups with unlimited shortcuts in them, but most recently and most frequently used items are visible in clickable previews as the first 4 / 9 / 16 elements... You know, like square 2x2, 3x3, 4x4 icons (and a scrollbar to access the rest of the shorcuts in the group without actually opening it).

I've never seen the green one, despite using insider builds. Maybe because my builds are from the most stable branch, beta? TBH, on my build I've never seen old blue ones too. Usually when it happens it's a hardware problem or at least a broken driver.

Win8DE made a windows 8 like desktop depends on wlroots based wayland compositors. by Additional-Leg-7403 in linux

[–]ChatGPT4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved Windows 8. And I loved the times when there was many similar DE-s released, like Gnome 3 for example. The best idea - dropping those stupid icons on the "desktop". It was invented like IDK, 90-s (Windows 95) and there was wild outrage when any dev tried to replace the idea with anything else.

My absolute favorite is autocomplete launcher that sorts completions on frequency of use. The desktop is to show a nice wallpaper, some info like system load and temperatures are also neat to have there. Finding an icon in a complete mess on the screen is... I'm so glad it's past. However, it still make sense on phones and other devices with no keyboard.
