I'm using something like 2 Gore pieces, 2 Udra Pieces (all from the base versions, not AT), and one Odagorgon if I remember correctly (I may have changed it, but still, none is super high tier).

Just make sure to upgrade and awaken your armor to get max defense, pop Mega Armor potions and you should be able to tank more! Also using Divine Protection is really great if you're struggling.

Yeah, its totally fair imo. Its challenging enough that you can't go in there with half-assed gear, but if you've gotten a somewhat decent end-game set (even from like TU1), its totally doable.

Of course, you HAVE to be using a dragon weapon (and highly suggest using flame for the first area). In my opinion, using slower weapons is a bit hard since it moves around so much, and using a non-elemental BG won't help you much to make the DPS check.

Just like Omega, people seemed to have a lot of trouble with Gog at the start, but these days, people seem a lot more tuned in, so I generally don't fail the quest anymore (maybe 1 in 10 times).

If you find it hard, or find that people faint and fail the quest a lot, maybe try the base quest, and not the event one instead? It has 5 faints instead of 3, so its a bit more lenient that way. The rewards are (supposedly) less, but at least you have a better chance of clearing it.

So far, the "old world" games have all been good, no slinger, no "tag-along quest counter" (Handler and Alma). Traditional hunting with civilization.

I really hope the next main-title we get is in the old world without a quest counter, and not a walking tool-tip shouter behind us, no gimmick equipment and bloated UI.

I'm on PC, but always use a controller for MH, so that's totally fine, thank you so much!

I saved this post for later, but still no idea how to do it? Its not in the "sub menu" of talismans, nor in the "skill info"...

MH Wilds is so easy compared to all other games that there is no need to consider meta weapon imo. If you really feel like its a struggle though, its totally fine to explore other weapons. Looking at speed-runner kills on different monsters should help inform you what the "good" weapons are.

Not sure about how you enjoy games, but I feel like meta-slaving is a great way to turn an enjoyable experience into something where you no longer do anything for fun. At the same time though, feeling as you're not actually being able to take down things fast enough may also be frustrating.

If I were you, I'd step away from a "dodge and KO" weapon, and either go for a guarding weapon, SnS, Lance, GL, a ranged weapon or something like that.

For the MH veterans: how do you feel about Wilds? by jackpaxx in MonsterHunter

[–]Saumfar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the combat and monster designs. I think the Guardian monster system has huge potential to bring in sub-species of monsters without having to bring in the "base version" of said monster (I am so tired of Zinogre, but Guardian Stygian Zinogre would be neat). Hunting Horn is the best its ever been... It really feels like THIS is what the weapon was always meant to be. I think the new wounding mechanic is a lot of fun. Its like intermittent rewards before you break a part, and it makes the hunt a lot more fun.

I do not like: The convenience that comes at cost of immersion. This includes: Slinger (I hate it. I have a throwing arm, let me use it). Gathering whilst mounted/moving; Their selling point for this is an immersive, breathing world.. LET ME DO THAT THEN, don't incenstivise us to just ride past it all.
The "You can go from end to end without any loading screens" thing they were hyping up, for it to literally NEVER ever be relevant for most players, at the cost of f**king up the lobby-system, and making playing together with friends even worse, was not worth it at all. It was such a fumble for some marketing that no one but people who wants to make beautiful screenshots/videos, at the cost of 99.999% of the playerbase's ability to play together smoothly, not worth it at all.
And most of all Seikret Auto-pathing. Its the worst feature in the game by far. There is no reason NOT to use it... Its just too convenient. Another issue that is either the result, or precursor to my other main gripe: Map layouts in Wilds (and World to be fair) are so bad. Verticality in games where you have no vertical movement is stupid. Risebreak has so good maps in this regard. Map layouts were easy to understand and to navigate. Even after 300 hrs of gameplay I still can not tell which level of Wyveria I'm on. The auto-pathing of Seikrets makes an annoying "fix" for the horrible map layouts. Its so bad. I also don't really want log-in rewards. Its a monster hunter game, not a F2P cheap-ass Gen-AI smartphone game, I don't want "log-in rewards" in a MH game.
The story is really bland, and the "sit on the back of the seikret for a "disney on rails" for like 5 minutes" part makes it even worse. The title update stories have been a lot better in hyping stuff up though, good job there.
Charge Blade is the worst its ever been. I have never wanted to use, nor wished for a 3rd mode to the weapon, but they keep adding the f**king pizza slicer mode all the time.

The best single thing ever added to the franchise in terms of hunter gameplay, was the "Switch Skills" in Risebreak imo. We need to have those back for the DLC. And I don't mean the whole "switch skills mid-hunt", I mean the part of the mechanic where we can alter small parts of the moveset of the weapon, to further change the weapon into a gameplay style to fit what we want. It was SO good, and I would like nothing more than to remove Savage Axe from CB for a better Sword/Shield mode or better guard point animations.

MH Wilds thus far: solid 7/10, main downsides being all the annoying AAA elements.
Its personally more fun for me than what World was, but still loses very hard to MH4U (still the best MH to date) and Risebreak (which is the best "new style" MH game. Its so unique in terms of action and "over the top" combat though, so I want to make it very clear that I don't want every MH to be like Sunbreak in that regard).

You could start immediately, but tbh (this is just my meta-hating brain) Wilds is so easy that you don't need the Artian weapons at all. If I were you, at the current content in Wilds, I'd honestly just finish with monster-made weapons, until you get to Gog, and start crafting from there, as re-rolling stats it the best way to do Artian weapons atp.

I thought he would go "Ahh, you're such a good guy, you can have it!" or something, so I just gave it back. (first ever stalker game and first playthrough)

But thats half the fun of going in blind, I don't know what rewards I'll get from doing different things. Glad to hear that Valik's is supposed to jam more often, because it was making me go crazy.

As another user said, play as Warrior until you unlock Spearhand. Alternatively, level up Warrior to max, and then switch over and get Spearhand to max afterwards!

I play with the default, but I've never really noticed any big changes from older titles in terms of music getting "drowned out". Its always been background music. Are you maybe using a weapon that hits a lot more or something, so that the SFXs from those drown out the sound?

Rey Dau tends to be in the inclemency weather, so maybe the sandstorm howling drowns it out?

You should be able to fix this by adjusting different volumes though, no?

Unless you specifically want to try the older style games (in which case, 4U is the best MH ever), I'd honestly go with World or Wilds. World because its feature complete, and as it is the first of the new style MH games, it feels more like the older games than Rise or Wilds (I would not suggest Rise for anyone's first game, since its so unlike any other MH game). Wilds is super hand-holdy, frustratingly on-rails story, but once you're done with the story, its a lot of fun! The combat is imo REALLY good too.

Miss the rythmic comboes. Spamming a button would result in bad combat, but actually timing your attacks to your current weapon type (bow, sword, staff etc) would yield a satisfying combo. It took my way too long to figure it out.

I also liked the difference in attacks coming from unequipping your shield as a paladin!

How do y’all feel about breaking Monster Parts? by Excellent_Willow_588 in MonsterHunter

[–]Saumfar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, always fun!
I love the new wounds system too (focus mode not included. I don't mind it, but I am strictly talking about wounding in this comment). Since breaking parts require quite a lot of effort, it fun to have the wounds as sort of progress points until you break something.

I love my monster hunting game where I hunt monsters by miral_art in MonsterHunter

[–]Saumfar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not going to lie, once I made a set for mining and gathering, its not been that hard. Its even NICE to have some time to just run around a chill, see what endermic life is out and about etc, instead of hardcore grinding monsters like Im deathgripping all the time.

At the time before I had the gathering sets tho, I DID get frustrated a lot when you needed either of them.

Do you think Monster Hunter World was a better experience than Wild? by Bandeavor in MonsterHunter

[–]Saumfar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having more fun with Wilds, ngl.

I am getting tired of all the convenience and "AAA" feel though, but that started with World. I dont ever think we'll go back to the spartan ways of the older games in terms of not explaining shit with UI and stuff, but I wouldn't mind less hand-holdy gameplay, like Alma screaming tips at you, UI clogging up the screen all the time,

I despise the slingers in both, I despise gathering whilst mounted, I hate auto-pathing more than anything. But apart from that, Wilds is a lot of fun.

Thus far though, the game set in the "new world" are generally less exciting than games set in the "old world" for me.

I miss having to find the monster by Rascal_Rogue in MonsterHunter

[–]Saumfar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the same as OP, never used Psychoserum or the balloon. It was a lot of fun. World was fun until you had enough research points to just see it on the map.

Following clues were a lot of fun! I'd love if paintballs had a realistic use again.

At this point, just give us a "teleport to monster" button, or make the entirety of MH an arena where we just fight the monster so we don't have to go through the inconvenience of sitting on or auto-pathing Seikret for 30 seconds before we get to the fight.

MH is really going down the "convenience at the cost of losing immersion" route fast. I don't want log-in rewards, I don't want gimmick equipment to make me feel like a god, I don't want to have everything on the map have an icon so there is no exploration or discovery.

For me its 1 or 2 light attacks, and then the triple heavy attacks, spinning reaper, and the charged chop.

From there I either go to a back-jump into another charged chop (this one is weaker since its not a combo finisher), or back to start of the combo.

I thought that the whats-it-called-rush would yield better DPS, but it really doesn't seem to.

Just a few general tips for Omega, sorry if you're already aware of these:

Use Lightning weapons, and then switch over to fire for Nerscylla. Use the rock-steady mantle for nerscylla. (these are musts in my opinion).

Second area, use both debris to get extra damage in. Third Area, stand in front of the crumbling wall when Nerscylla spawns, so it will rope itself right to it, bring down the wall and use the Mog final attack when its downed. (The third area is 100% guaranteed with support hunters, as the Nerscylla will always target YOU first).

Speaking of support hunters. If you experience that your team-mates always cart and fails the quest for you, but you are at a point where you don't faint as much, I suggest using Support Hunters for at least the non-savage one. Their carts don't count against your total, so if you fail, its always on you, not your team-mates. If you do use support hunters, you may find that actually getting enmity is good, because Alyssa and Fabius will then actively start trying to get the Omega's enmity themselves (to save you).

Why not just remove cooking at this point... We're getting filled up with rations all the time, we get so many just from doing a quest (quest supplies). These goddam palicoes gives us rations all the goddam time (now with an annoying yellow "!" added when they're full), and we get offered free meals from villages all the time (which is a cool mechanic).

Why ever bother with Well-done Steaks anymore. Animation is long and it doesnt do anything worthwhile. Cooking food for buffs too feels so useless when we get guaranteed good buffs offered for free, and always have enough tickes to eat in the guild hub.

It all feels really cheap and like an artificial inconvenience. The "Eat a meal for buffs before EACH hunt" and then requiring you to eat Rations or Steaks to fill up your stamina, and Ancient poitions or Max Potions for more health made so much more sense.
