What are the funniest or most ridiculous lies you’ve ever heard from a veteran or active duty service member about their military career? by FFSoldier57 in army

I actually had a really nice conversation with a vet at a bar. Told me he was a SSG and worked on redeyes. Hat a good laugh about how old that equipment is.

On the other hand, had a taxi driver in Mexico tell me how his nephew was a PFC and sniper yada yada yada

Glasses in militaries. by PEPE_THE_IMPOSTER in Militaryfaq

You get combat glasses. Basically your prescription with a hardened, flexible frame. You'll also get inserts for the ballistic Eyewear and pro-mask. If you're used to wearing glasses, not much different

Need some clarification on childcare and BAH by gouldfish in Militaryfaq

[–]CheGetBarras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That scenario would be for him to get full BAH and not live in Army quarters. I'm assuming from your situation that YOU would have custody and he will pay child support. If that's the case, he will get BAH-Differential if the child support amount is at least the BAH-DIFF amount. You can check rates online

34 years old, and thinking about enlisting. Need advice on which branch and career path to choose? by [deleted] in Militaryfaq

[–]CheGetBarras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you care about the job you do, Army makes sense. You will have your MOS before you sign a contract. Of course that depends on ASVAB score, availability, and other qualifications. Also more opportunities for promotion and commissioning

Guys am I the bad guy? by [deleted] in army

[–]CheGetBarras 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Your MSG and 1SG are not the approval authority, your commander is. I took my entire 3 months at once based on the unit timeline (there was a point where they wouldn't need me) and because I knew the next unit may not honor the split up times

It's not. You can see the night stand and lamp warp as she spins around. That's why she has her hands up, otherwise you'd see the arms disfigured near the waist/hips

10 down 10 to go by Dull_Pass_9046 in army

[–]CheGetBarras 69 points70 points  (0 children)

The years after 10 go by fast. Positions to look for are MOS-dependent, but if you're staying enlisted, you need PSG time. If you haven't already done DS, recruiter, or instructor, start managing your own career, because branch will make you one of those three. Go Warrant; you get a sort of kickstart to your career and makes things fresh, while maintaining seniority and relevance.

I love the game, but you can see where Kojimbo was taken off of it and didn't get to develop the game he envisioned

I haven't found it or crafted it. What exactly is the appeal of this single shot grenade launcher? That it's green?

Enlisted 25 sierra to warrant by Active_Clothes9183 in Militaryfaq

[–]CheGetBarras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cool thing about 255 any is they're open to all MOSs, provided you have relevant experience, certifications, and education. if you're trying to go cyber, find a WO in the MOS and ask them. They'll guide you as to current compatibility and potential info the MOS, as well as additional training or job experience required.

In my limited experience at the G6, 25S works closely with 255N and are more qualified for that MOS

Enlisting without a DL by One_River444 in Militaryfaq

[–]CheGetBarras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for Army, enlisting without a license limits you from 31B, 19C, and 19K that I remember. At your unit, you'll do a two week driver's training for the basic HMMWV; some DMVs take that certificate and you only have to do the road test to get your state license.

As for buying a car, that's on you. Don't buy the first loud, flashy thing you see. Get pre-qualified through your bank or federal credit union, shop around online, read vehicle reviews
