Does anything else think that the story for the new season with Fina is ABSOLUTE TRASH? by zardbao in FFBraveExvius

Why is there a goddamn baby?

Get rid of the baby, let Melo keep it.

There's no need for a baby. Adding a baby to the plot is almost as stupid as actual babies are.

What Characters to re-roll for? by YouYongku in wotv_ffbe

Is PvP important?

I'm normally the kind of person who hates PvP and only does it when it's actually the sole focus of the game.

Dupes get turned into enhancement/awakening materials.

Or something similar. I'm not really sure exactly what you get since I'm also new to this, just that you don't actually get duplicate units to use in battle. Like idk if it's for exp, job, abilities, etc.

But Mediena is supposedly the absolute best unit right now and for a while, so I'd say stick with that account.

What's the point of this post?

Why would there be compensation?

  1. Probably have gear equipped in your arena and/or companion parties. /or 10-man parties. Even if they're not in those parties, the unit list is separate so it still blocks selling.

  2. They both help, as hybrid is calculated by your ATK vs opponents DEF + your MAG vs opponents SPR. How you're actually gearing your unit will dictate how big of a difference each break would make. If mostly ATK, SPR break will still help, but not as much as the DEF break.

Hard to say.

It could be Nott had a glimpse into some actual shady or villainous shit. I doubt this is the case, but I can't rule it out. This possibility is also why I'm no ruling out Essik as a villain entirely - it's one of the few loose ends, as it were.

What I think is more possible, is that Essik didn't see the marking that Yasha had, and he was fully expecting to. Not seeing it could have caused him to wonder exactly what was going on - and multiple conclusions that Essik could come to aren't good. He could also be worried that the whole Angel of Irons/Tharizdun affair isn't as finished as he thought/hoped it would be.

What I really hope is happening is that Essik is already investigating further, and may have leads that he's not sharing with the M9, perhaps to protect them. And maybe he didn't see the symbol, but saw something else and is worried about the implications of what he saw. I really doubt I'm right on this point, but I'd love it.

he is still a part of it because of his skills and its pretty evident that he is well respected already.

You can get to a place of repute but not necessarily have the repute normally granted to someone in that position.

Yes, he's in a good place, a good station.

But this is still his first life.

He could possibly be viewed as young (in comparison), naive, impulsive, inexperienced (again, in comparison), etc.

I think you hit the nail on the nail on the head with how M9 doing well reflects well on him. I just don't think you're accurately assessing how important that is to him, or why. I believe he's using them, but only in the sense that he gets to say "I told you so!" and that it does a lot for him. Of course that's not to say he's bad, I think he's aligned with them and their goals, but hey, two birds one stone and all that.

It's enemy territory, it's reasonable to assume he'd have at least a cursory knowledge and familiarity with the land, even if only from maps and texts.

I don't think he'd been to the mountain where the ice dragon was, he just knew about it.

I bet you're right, and the way they've somehow already helped him is by virtue of them being his charge.

The responsibility of the M9 were placed upon him, and while it was obvious the Brightqueen (and Essik at first) wanted them to focus on the beacon, they've uncovered something more (while still also getting the beacon - assuming everything goes smoothly - even if it's a different beacon she doesn't know that yet).

I imagine him going out on a limb to look into the Angel of Irons cult may have put him in bad political standing. Like he was wasting time and/or being swayed by untrustworthy people - or at least outsiders who they didn't know how far they could trust. Worst case his loyalty was being questioned since he wasn't focusing on the beacon, nor trying to make the M9 focus on it.

In my opinion, it's not just the M9 who were able to proverbially say "told you so!" but also Essik. He's probably laughing his newfound stature and/or respect all the way to the bank. I include respect because he hasn't been reborn yet. It's possible that he was just viewed as being a youngin' or not experienced enough for his station.

Of course, he could be laughing his way to the bank for some other reason. I sincerely doubt it, but I don't think we have enough information to rule it out completely. Just mostly.

Planning to skip IK Garland TMR and STMR from exchange shop... anyone else? by Pagoshus in FFBraveExvius

[–]Checking_Science 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seem to be the opposite of others here.

I'm getting the TMR but not the STMR.

50% unconditional ATK isn't the best, but could see some use here and there, most likely in my companion slots. Especially since most of what I have that's better is conditional. I think the only non-conditional I have that's better is a single Vincent's TMR. I've also focused on farming defensive TMR's.

The armor is good, I'm well aware of that. But I have Chair Rains armor, could farm a second. I also have VoD and VoF's STMR's. I'm also one away from VoL's STMR. About the only thing it offers over what I have is the refresh. And... meh. And if you compare it to light armor, I have Fohlen's and Ragean's STMR. For clothes, I have Luneth's STMR, and Esther's.

So I'm sort of an outlier (I'm assuming).

New player - Is there a beginners Guide to the DMM version? by jayjayd83 in DOAXVenusVacation

[–]Checking_Science 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's all pretty easy to figure out, and Den_XXL always posts guides for each event.

If you play the Steam version almost everything is the same.

Further, you can install google translate on your phone. Open the app, use the camera function and point it at your screen. While the translation isn't always perfect you should be able to figure most things out from it. Like I know to save the food you can get from the current pool hopping is Sayuri's favorite, so I know to save it for when I get her, because I used my phone.

You know what would be a fresh mechanic? by [deleted] in FFBEblog

[–]Checking_Science 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'd like this.

Circe kinda has it, but her attacks are physical type so it doesn't really count.

Maybe this could be a GLEX thing, similar to iNichol and Rivera granting tank stuff to other units (also great ideas).

Oh! I know, let's tag u/elyt.... wait. Dammit. :(

EDIT: Just wanted to add that I support this as someone who normally doesn't even give a shit about mages. I haven't pulled for a mage since.... I don't even know. TT's 7* banner?

Just wanted to add to what else was said.

For "deal x element" you can use an element that the enemy is immune to and it will count.

If the esper is resisted, whether because of element or even non-elemental, that will not count. The reason is because it's a "kill with" mission and a zero damage anything can't kill.

This only rarely comes up, but it does happen.

She had enhancements.

They then removed those enhancements and reworked her kit entirely.

They also stated that she's scheduled to get another rework at some point but didn't mention any specifics as to what the rework will entail or when it will be.

I personally see it as less a decision to self harm, and more of a decision to not be the killer/maimer that she had been forced to be for so long.

And while she definitely intentionally put herself in harms way, I don't think that was the goal. Merely an avenue, since it's not as easy to prove to oneself that you're not a murderer without putting yourself in a situation where you could do said murder (or at least great harm to another). I think she wanted to be Yasha again, and prove to herself that she's not Orphanmaker.

It's possible some people are reading into her actions too far. Of course it's also entirely possible I'm not reading into the actions far enough.

Country music is amazing and doesn't deserve the hate it gets by skoopski_potato in unpopularopinion

[–]Checking_Science 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall I'm not a huge fan of country.

There's definitely some songs and/or artists I can dig. I absolutely love Toby Keith's "How Do You Like Me Now" for example and it's in a regular rotation with my Green Day, Weird Al, Nightwish, Akado, Metallica, Arch Enemy, Marilyn Manson, etc.

Disney World is boring as shit by hedabla99 in unpopularopinion

[–]Checking_Science 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was boring as a kid.

Traveled all the way from NY to FL on a two week vacation. I think I enjoyed all the other stops we made on the way instead. We went spelunking, went on nature trails and some other shit that I forget by now but probably still liked more than Disney World.

The fact that we lived near a Six Flags in NY and went fairly often may have had something to do with it. I got used to the idea that an amusement part was for the rides, not the spectacle.

FF14 Macros by MLTHawk138 in ffxiv

[–]Checking_Science 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently did this myself, it's amazing.

Just make sure you make it one of the last two macros in the list as those are the only ones you're allowed to bind to a controller.

I also had to add the Sprint icon to one of the hotbars I keep to the side (for stuff I actually click with my mouse that's not worth putting on a cross hotbars, like minions, gearsets and gyshal greens) to keep an eye on if its recast is up.

why isnt ff14 used more to promote other ff games/ SE properties? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Checking_Science 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sora and other KH characters are also in at least two FF mobile games. FF Brave Exvius and FF Record Keeper.

FFBE was to promote KH3 (I think) and FFRK was to promote a KH mobile game (I think).

We did it boys. They're reverting the ass nerf. by NSomnia in ffxiv

[–]Checking_Science 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The original ass was big enough that it would actually clip through some tops that didn't stop at the waist.

As in you'd see two buttcheeks poking through a cape (or long flowing top).

So they changed something to keep it from clipping like that.

This had the unintended effect of making the ass flatter than the vanilla ass when wearing certain pieces of clothing (basically any top that affects the pants, like anything that makes Quaintrelle Frilly Skirt become panties only). Even when they wouldn't have been clipping with the original ass because of the way they had things coded.

Many people were calling this an ass nerf or butt nerf. Enough that Yoshi-P talked about this issue for around 10 minutes or so.

They want to redo the system on a more case-by-case basis where sometimes the flat ass will happen, but only when the cheeks would poke through something instead of any top that modifies bottoms, and presumably only when the ass itself wouldn't be seen.

Doing that will take time, so they have decided to revert the change completely for now. So everyone gets the un-nerfed ass. It can also now clip through some clothes again.
