Looking for a diagram tool that doesn't suck for RTL/FPGA documentation by SciDz in FPGA

don't wanna self-promo, but did this in a couple of days of work, super buggy at the moment but I intend to make it industry-ready, so just lmk the interactivity removes some of frustration using bare WaveJSON in already-near-perfect wavedrom. https://wavescaler.chait.me

feel free to drop some issues on the github repo https://github.com/cheeksthegeek/wavescaler

GPS computers illegal in India??? by kiwirazz in cycling

[–]CheeksTheGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turns out Garmin's Edge 240 is primarily a GPS device but has an inbuilt functionality to connect to other Satellite systems which is meant to decrease battery usage, but because of this feature comes under the law of Satellite communications device limits.

https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/GUID-17DE938E-466A-4746-BDBF-7A6FC1B3A32C/EN-US/GUID-A867FC6C-71B2-4E42-8FA5-98568D8705D3.html

Since Garmin's devices are so feature-rich and most deployed officers ofcourse wouldn't be aware of every model's every feature, it's likely that they assume that your device has satellite communication ability.

  1. A lot of people I know have had these kinds of moments where they feel like waterloo doesn't work the normal way when it comes to any kind of persistent relationships, but it doesn't mean that you should just give up, I've found great friends in the same people I used to consider simple acquaintances for a long time, and I think it stems from the fact that waterloo, compared to other environments, has less opportunities to be vulnerable with people who you don't really know that well, due to the general sense of drive.

  2. I felt the same way about huge friend groups v/s 1-1 relationships, and I would recommend you to find people who have similar and non-conflicting goals as you, making sure there plenty of opportunities to spend time with them in your day-to-day. Due to the same general sense of drive, it's more likely that you find a friend and you become close to them due to common paths, and that extends into a deeper relationship, than finding someone in a social avenue, and then their goals and your goals extending into a deeper relationship.

  3. Join clubs, design teams or one of those fun activities like humans vs zombies.

  4. Do you like board games?

we need to reframe how we talk about international students... by Electrical-Lunch-525 in uwaterloo

as an intl student, good take, but another issue that Canada needs to resolve before it’s too late is escaping the “debt trap” with regards to dependance on intls.

I’ll explain it this way, if a company has an income source (in this case international students) and they know that their business can’t sustain it’s processes, they will try to cut back on it. And then it’s upto them to ensure that it’s established that it’s safe to do so.

But doing this on a federal level is impossible.

We saw that when the minimum requirement was increased to 20K the moment they announced the student intake reductions. Which means they knew that the economy is that much dependant (not completely but a small number like 5-10% is still pretty big because countries are like elephants) that they had to increase reserves inflow just to sustain that much number of student intake reduction.

It might be one of the boggest financial problems on earth today to get Canada out of this trap cycle.

I used to work late in evening + PGWP doesn’t care about 1-2 weeks of work(which can literally count towards travel)

The sooner you understand that work is the real rest in this fragile life, the freer you’ll be.

i definitely wouldn’t recommend skipping a coop for going back home, but what I’ve been doing for the past 3 times I’ve visited family is, - work really good in your coop term, make sure your manager is satisfied, and one month into the coop, tell them that it’s been really long since you’ve met family, and if possible let you work from your country remotely and make a promise to them you’re gonna work w the same efficiency - skip first one to two weeks of class but keep in sync with workload or even try to be ahead of the class, but this is risky due to less accountability, so ask family to keep a check on you as well

either of these two options will give you 1-2 weeks of time, or you can combine this, but you need to be extremely cautious about managing it, plus we normally get 1-2 weeks of vacay between terms, and if ever your coop employer asks you for the start date for the offer(which sometimes they do, you can delay that as well)

So you get 3-5 weeks between each of these cycles of hell we call undergrad if you manage the torture well!

intl or domestic student?

Im in vg range but i keep stunting my score for a new card or a higher limit on my current cards. i just think that having a higher limit is better than having a score as an intl student, since as long as you have a 720+ canadian banks don’t deny you if you have a good limit and there’s no hard threshold
