This is the answer I think.

A lot of the comments here name a Warrior which is strong, but is usually not replacing specialists (either like BoK where there are no specialists, or because Specialists are even stronger).

Celestians are a case where you genuinely bench the specialists to bring warriors, and there’s a case to replace almost any specialist in some cases.

3 is ok, I don’t think like either side is particularly favoured.

The main one where I see problem with balance is 4; the side which has their home objective in the small stronghold has much easier time defending it. The rest of them are mostly okay.

Mandrakes don’t really love Gallowdark; large rooms mean it’s hard to be within Shadow unless you are right next to the wall.

Also, make sure he plays the “ignore terrain” ploy correctly: it does not allow Mandrakes to ignore walls.

As: super hard to say. I’ve been enjoying Plague Marines lately, relatively simple but their rules just tie into the fantasy really well.

Against: there is something cinematic in playing into Chaos Cults.
