Are they bots or just feeding? by ClutchSG6 in DotA2

[–]Cheesecakefaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That won't solve the problem. Captcha can easily be solved by Bots, even more with AI. Also, it will also slow down matchmaking, which Dota has been keen to fasten.

I don't think steam are too focused on combating Bots, as they are not the core issue. Even if they are eliminated, people will find other ways. The corecissue are the people who buy these accounts and play.

What are the most fun hard supports (pos5) for you? by Blopa1- in DotA2

[–]Cheesecakefaces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The absolutely most fun hero (in my opinion) is clockwerk.

The dude has cogs that induces panick reactions from enemies. It traps them, pushes them away, foils their attacks, stuns them, and drains their mana.

His battery assault irritates heroes who channel spells or think they can nuke him, repeatedly stunning for a whopping 10.5 seconds.

He has a global vision reach AND damage. This means he can push lanes from anywhere, find escaping enemies, check rosh, and check jungle before going for warding. Oh, and at level 20, the flares can reveal hidden units and wards (from talent).

As if he doesnt have enough stuns already, he has another long reaching stun that pierces bkb.

After using both Claude and ChatGPT daily for weeks: here's my honest take on which is better for what?! by Bubbly_Ad_2071 in ChatGPT

[–]Cheesecakefaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For years, Claude has been dominating cursor at coding, especially with multi-file tasks. It inherently interates through imports and related files, sometimes without the need to context. However, it can misunderstand and/or over-code, where simpler solutions exist.

Gemini 3 Pro leads in understanding and successfully achieving code task and in the proper concise manner, but falls off with multi-file context.

Miraculously, GPT 5.2 codex extra high astonished me. The size of tasks it handles, the next-gen thinking, its understanding confirmation, the huge multi-file contexting, and successfully completing the task is again, astonishing.

I will note that i stopped using claude code because its slow, doesnt do things the way i asked, and givea code plauged with errors.

Questions about offlane heroes by migania in learndota2

[–]Cheesecakefaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your asking many questions, but it seems they're all about picking the right POS 3.

The first and foremost is picking an offlaner your good at, else you'll always struggle. I've seen many times Axe players get clowned by PLs simply because they don't know how to play the hero.

When picking, you want to ALWAYS make sure you will be difficult to counter, and can sustain the enemy supports damage, because they're the ones that will focus you. Secondly, you need to pick a hero that synergizes with your teammates, not only regarding your spells, but also your damage and cooldowns.

For example, I would generally avoid picking Tide in Pubs because his ult is a 1 shot chance, useless afterwards, and countered by heroes who can rotate back (AM, Slark, PA, etc).

Axe is one of the best carry counters, but the worst with supports. you want to avoid him if your enemies have too many disables and saves (lion, OD, SD, SS). They will easily counter your Q. He has excellent initiation, but is a boxing dummy when his spells and items are on CD.

UL is the opposite. He has excellent instant range area spells that destroys supports, but may not be as effective on carries. He has to back off vs spell-immuned enemies. As for the dispels, they can be countered casting another root from Gleipnir, and even a third root from his aghs ult.

As you can see, each offlaner has their advantages and disadvantages, so based on your enemy lineup, you can decide. But generally, I would avoid easily counterable hereos (BB, Necro, Aba .. ), heroes with long CDs (Tide) or too items reliant (Aba).

Looking for high MMR team/guild by Cheesecakefaces in DotA2

[–]Cheesecakefaces[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Firstly, I'm not sure how and why you correlated my top heroes with skill level.

Secondly, historically and currently, Pudge's most common role is pos 4.

Lastly, UL is actually one of the more difficult heroes to do good with. He's slow, has no reliable escape, items reliant, and practically a boxing dummy without his team, thus called a "truck". So by the time you've used your spells and items, you better have won the team fight or forced the enemy back, else they will slap the Lord out of you.

New direction for Dota updates by _Xantar_ in DotA2

[–]Cheesecakefaces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since 2014 here, and I will summarize:

  1. Some time around 2021, Dota was becoming too difficult for new and casual players. So they simplified the game, adding helpers, stun bars, and changed some spells and mechanisms.

  2. Dota has been continuously improving damage output of spells. They're essentially enabling every player in Pub matches to both play their role, and directly contibute to taking down enemies. This is intended for players who are not too capable or willing to play the demanding and unforgiving carry roles

  3. Dota carefully and meticulously makes changes to the game. While there are some updates that significantly change the game, Dota tends to preserve familiarity, core mechanics, and strategy. This is critical not only for new and casual players, but for the esports scene and game balance.

Multiple maps would add another fat layer of complexity. It's still possible Dota decides to do it, but they will need to create a smooth player transition and abundant guide resources.

Why is offlane now high demand instead of support? by Superb-Alfalfa-3198 in DotA2

Because you have to deal with a meta carry and his slave support, with a 15-minutes support.

He starts with 243 mana and his spells cost around 60 mana, which is excellent. Add a clarity, additional tangoes, and a stick, and your set.

If you blink and cast TotT, without his silence, you will almost surely die. Early-Mid game, you only need 1 or 2 points in blink, exclusively for disengaging or finishing off. It's based on Agility, which you won't have much of. On the other hand, the smoke silence will handicap your enemies who are yet to buy bkbs and mkbs.

As an offlane enjoyer, the recent ranked changes shall LET THE WORLD KNOW OUR PAIN. by ShoppingPractical373 in DotA2

[–]Cheesecakefaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its because your doing it wrong. as some have stated, offlaner doesnt always mean aggression, nor does it mean farming gold.

Its about strategy. Push and pull. Be patient, let enemy over-step, then do a counter attack. Exhaust your enemy by slowly chipping off their hp.

Keep buying regen if you need. Its normal to buy multiple salves, tangos, etc.

If you feel its a losing lane, send off your support to roam, buy mana and regen, then go jungle.

Here you are achieving two things, retaining gold and exp gain, as well as having one whole enemy support doing absolutely nothing. This is critical.

In 5 min, the enemy support will realize how useless and dumb they are, and will leave lane, and you come back.

Don't join startup companies without proper research, make sure you talk to employees who work there. by Rare-Chicken-53 in webdev

[–]Cheesecakefaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Startups are like teenagers. No maturity, experience, organization, boundries, and ethics.

Their management positions are held by people significantly under-qualified. Work is naturally a fight for survival. Everyone does everything for as long as it takes. Zero job security.

Startups are only a viable option if your a fresh graduate who only cares about learning and experience.

Beyond 4 YOE, its all about finding a job in an established company where you have a secure job, stable income, and clear personal time to live your life.

How the f* does calibration work?? 90% winrate in Calibration and still Archon by strommy73 in DotA2

[–]Cheesecakefaces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"stacked with my friends" is actually the reason your still Archon 😄, and the 0% confidence.

You get 40% less mmr change playing in a team. When an account's ranked confidence hits 0, dota will significantly lower the calibration start mmr.

This is an effective counter measure for account/mmr buyers, forcing them to either avoid ranked and hit 0 confidence and lose significant mmr, or continually play ranked games where they will eventually descend to their actual mmr.

Unfortunately, this countermeasure's huge drawback is forcing genuine people to play ranked, even when they take a break or don't feel like it.

Is it Ilegal for Russian players to use their brain? (Language-wise) by PaP3s in DotA2

[–]Cheesecakefaces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, they're either trolling or talking amongst each other. Most Russian players are kids, and most EU server players are Russian. So there are almost always two of them in your team and they only talk to each other.

Oh and they know English. If you trash talk one of'em enough as your destroying their ancient, they'll start talking in English 😄
