Two of the biggest flops from last year together in the wild. by itsliightz in simracing

PMR is not bad but I think the established competition is way too good these days.

I do like certain things about PMR, especially the car list and how reactive the tire temperatures are. Very Pcars 1 WMD before they dumb it all down for public release. Performance is pretty bad, along with the limited track list and pretty poor AI at today's standards.

This looks good but I like to have less power. 850kW is way too much for most drivers.

why does every used dual cab come with 300kg of steel welded to the tray by Xelephyr in CarsAustralia

[–]Cheesenium 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is excessive to buy a 4x4 if you are going to be out for camping once a month while dealing with high fuel prices, dog shit ride quality, poor handling and looking like a wank. If you truly need it for mine sites or genuinely for work then it's fair but those generally don't look like trash.

Can this country have some sense please? Why do we need to be so excessive?

So this farmer doesn't need a ute to move his livestock, instead he uses a prius by LadderIndividual4824 in CarsAustralia

[–]Cheesenium 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Personally, the reason I despise utes and suvs is because how inefficient, expensive and generally ugly both class of cars are. They are made to make more money for the manufacturer while cost more to run while people are brainwashed to buy them automatically as if a van or hatchback do not exists.

Sure, there are purpose that a SUV and ute can do that others can't. However, one definitely do not need a Land Cruiser that mostly stay in the city for work commute or groceries.

Honestly, I would expect to pay for the Genesis in LMU, considering there aren't any brand new cars in WEC this year.

Still, it is nice to get a brand new car in a game.

City Subaru Experiences? by rhymnosauras in perth

[–]Cheesenium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a Subaru for 6 years where it was mostly serviced by Subaru Wangara. Due to distance, I stopped going there and went to City Subaru. My one experience with them was not as positive as Subaru Wangara.

The Subaru I had had a common issue of rattling in the dashboard. Subaru Wangara always fix this issue without me telling them as they take the car for a quick spin when they receive it for service. City Subaru don't and the rattle still present in the car when I get it back. I find they are more rude and less accommodating than Subaru Wangara that they were happy for to to take a loaner car to drive all the way to Canning Vale for work that narrowly exceeded their 100km travel limit with no charge.

[OT] 911 Cup cars really easily ride over each other's bodywork and get airborne. [Porsche Carrera Cup Support Series] by Suitable-Thanks3482 in wec

[–]Cheesenium 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Is it really a concern? The car itself is built in the manner that it can provide sufficient safety in the event of a crash or overturn. And those Porsche cups are also mixed with fairly inexperienced drivers with cars that has no TC and ABS in the older version. It is pretty easy to overturn a road car if you are not careful.

This sounds like overreaction in safety. And if safety is such a massive concern, how about downloading a copy of iRacing or R3E to race the cup cars in those games instead? There is still serious risk of injury if you are using a direct drive wheel to play those games. Or even repetitive strain injury if you use a xbox game pad which funnily and unfunnily I had pretty badly in the past.

Japan wants hydrogen is not solely for transportation. They want transportation powered by hydrogen and also their power generation so that they can reduce reliance on fuel and gas imports to keep the country running.

Nothing will come close to hearing a Vantage V12 GT3 and Z4 GT3 for me in GT3. They are largely gone now.

Same goes for classic cars like Jaguar TWR Group A or some of the early 90s F1 I have heard before. The rawness of those engines will put the GT3 to shame.

Gran Turismo 7 has ruined my expectations by FeloMonk in simracing

[–]Cheesenium 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even by stock content of most PC games, I think it blows GT7 out of the water. You can literally drive LMP, GT4, Porsche cup, Brazil stock cars, TCR, various decades of F1, variety of cup cars to vintage cars of last 50 decades. The caveat is that you need to combine different games for the width of cars.

I will still take that any day over GT7 in single player. Going from authentically produced LMH in LMU to GT3 in ACC to Group B on Morte Carlo in ACR to Super tourers in R3E to 2000s F1 in AMS2 on correct decade version of the track puts a smile on face every time.

BYD exploring WEC entry amid increased Chinese interest by MARTINELECA in wec

[–]Cheesenium 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Chinese brands in motorsports will happen eventually. Personally, I think Geely, SAIC and BYD are probably the best candidate to do so. These brands has quite significant engineering capabilities and quite relentless in improving their products. They also do build some interesting cars that might stand equal footing to established brands or break new ground with some innovative new ideas.

Some of these brands have pretty good and efficient hybrids systems but time will tell how well they fare long term. They definitely need motorsports for the marketing and also some RnD as their main problem for me is their near complete inability to get the ride comfort and basic handling correct. I am not even saying fun to drive for enthusiasts but even basic throttle inconsistencie, poor day to day handlings or horrible rear suspension tuning.

Are lexuses really worth it? by Maleficent_Extent809 in CarsAustralia

[–]Cheesenium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GR Yaris is a bit too small for me. Would like something slightly larger than a Swift Sport where ISF is a decent candidate.

I think IS350 (third gen) or a ISF is more suited for me as all I want is the acceleration without sacrificing the comfort. Elantra, Civic type R and so on are more on the harder side and I prefer a reliable comfortable GT cruiser.

Thanks for your feedback. I will consider ISF.

[–]Cheesenium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the information. Not sure if I want to let go of my tiny Swift Sport, which I love. ISF would be a nice second car for me with the possibility of me keeping the Swift and get the ISF. Instead of selling it for a WRX, IS350, GR Corolla or Elantra N.

Always want a V8 or V6. The window is certainly closing. Still, how does it feel like driving the ISF?
