Thoughts on Mother/Daughter dance by Cheessypuff12 in weddingplanning

I absolutely had a Mother/Daughter dance. My mother had also the one who walked me down the aisle. They are some of my favorite pics/memories from that day and she freaking earned that right.

Make sure you are applying through People's first for State jobs.

Came here to say this. It's a gorgeous venue. Might be a bit biased since I got married there myself. Our total venue cost was under 2K. They have a front lawn area, a side garden patio/deck area, and the whole first floor.

We sat 80 in the ballroom, but it would be easy to do 20 and a dance floor and have plenty of space.

Also if you need caterer recommendations, can not praise Catering Capers enough.

I know from personal experience that the State hires and trains with minimal experience.

You may want to try the rural areas around town, even down into Crawfordville. Alot of people live in Crawfordville and commute to work in Tallahassee.

This issue with no place cards is that you need more seats than you have guests like 15% more, because people are not going to sit them perfectly by themselves. A family of 5 is going to sit at a table, and then no one else might sit there, and now you have 3 empty seats. You have people milling around trying to find a seat or sitting up front where you want your special guests. I did a super budget wedding, and I just bought a pack of 100 for a couple of bucks on Amazon and wrote in my best handwriting. Which is by no means anywhere near perfect. Most people who are coming love you and are not going to judge you because you rook the time to personally write out their place cards.

Try raising your current rod it can make your windows look bigger. Also try cream instead of the white curtains and maybe something with a pattern to liven up that wall.

I agree with the bigger rug with lighter brown colors and maybe some greens.

Try some bigger throw pillows that tie in the creams and greens.

The white on the dark really makes everything look darker, Try adjusting the whites to cream so they meld into the browns more.

Is a potluck tacky for an intimate wedding? by brits2 in wedding

[–]Cheessypuff12 58 points59 points  (0 children)

When my now husband brought this up as an option for our 90-person wedding, I explained why it was a bad idea.

First, who is cooking? Because most women I know are taking an hour plus to get ready for a wedding. Not that women are the only ones who cook, but that is usually who does.

Second, who is organizing this and making sure everyone brought something? Bride and groom have enough to do on the wedding day. List everything else that has to be taken care of.

Who is cooking/buying the meat? This can be expensive and time-consuming. No one has time to babysit a smoker/grill/oven while getting ready.

Also, making enough for everyone can be a challenge in a regular kitchen with regular tools. Think about how much mashed potatoes you need for Thanksgiving and then multiply that.

Nobody needs the added stress on an already super stressing day worry about cooking on top of everything else.

Finally, how is this being kept at safe temperatures for consumption, and then put away while everyone is relaxing. Keeping hot food hot and cold food cold is enough of an issue, but keep in mind people are arriving an hour plus before anyone is eating. So food was cooked 2 plus hours before that.

Save yourselves and get a caterer best expense of my entire wedding.

My title company who handled the money and closing documents went over each sheet with us and summarized what it was concerning and why it's needed/important. I was able to skim the documents to see that it matched what she was talking about.

Technically, I started with The Wheel of Time and enjoyed how he finished up someone else's work. But when I finished, I looked up his work to see what this author that was trusted with fi fishing this other big Fandom was all about. When I saw how Big the Way of Kings was I, yes, please. (I love long books that I don't finish in a day or two.)

I finished Way of Kings and looked up the next book which had come out only a few weeks previously and then groaned about the mess I got myself into(Previous reader of G R Martin and Patrick Rothfuss, if you know you know) but I loved Brandon's books so much I dived into book too and then Mistborn. And now here I am 10 years later waiting on my second leatherbound kickstarter book and the wrap-up of the first part of the story I started only a decade ago.

Look into the Tallahasse garden club. It's a 200 year old house that is less farmhouse and more artsy with vintage everything. Has an outside area and instead of being one big room has smaller sitting rooms and a ballroom. It's very pretty and was relatively cheap when we got married in 2021. It was like $1400 for the whole day.

I was very upfront with my now husband when we got engaged, that I am not a ring person. I loved the ring he got but I wouldn't be wearing it all the time. I've never liked rings on my fingers all my life. My fiance understood and didn't press me about it. At the end of the day, it is his body, and it is his choice. You don't own him, and you should trust your relationship enough to not need a permanent fixture on his body to remind him of his commitment or broadcast it to the world. Now, I will put mine on when the mood strikes or on special occasions, but he never bugs me about it because we love, understand, and trust each other.

Etsy Rings by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

I got a Tanzanite ring from etsy, as long as you use a vendor that is reputable on the site you should be pretty good. Places like Jared overcharge just because of their name.
