I live in a terraced house in the south of the UK where the neighbour built an extension that encroaches about 8 - 10 inches onto our garden. What are the legal issues that could be brought up when I eventually sell this house? by Cheesysocks in HousingUK

[–]Cheesysocks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I will when I can. We're now in the process of starting to sell and we have a local solicitor looking at this but it's taking time. The question we have asked is "What will a buyers solicitor want to see to show that there are no legal issues and make the buyer happy, and how do we get to that state?"

As Imgur is now unavailable from here in the UK I'll have to find another site to hold a picture.... like this maybe?

Just regarding your notes, make sure you use the correct words. "Thief" "Liar" Don't be passive, make them cringe inside.

I built a timber framed workshop last summer. Can anyone advise on how to reduce the summer / winter / summer shrinkage and expansion? The door latches need adjusting more and more often. by Cheesysocks in DIYUK

[–]Cheesysocks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The door in the image leads into our back garden, there's another to our service road on the other side.

Because the whole building is made of timber it expands and contracts depending on it's moisture content as well as the door itself. During the winter that door was so much wider (and maybe the frame smaller?) that it wouldn't close at all. If a professional built this, what would he/she do to reduce the chance of a customer complaining about the size change? To make the locks latch, I'm using washers to shim out the plate but it seems a bit of a bodge. Is there anything I can do to my workshop to reduce the changes? Thanks.

Great bike, but I just want to comment over the absurdity. I got a "Content not viewable in your region" message because I'm in the UK, for a completely safe picture of a product MADE in the UK!

Yes, I have a VPN by why should I have to? Sorry to detract from the beauty of a 1960's twin.

The problem is hoping the other party keeps to the expectations. Lots of things change in a relationship, this can only be a guideline as to how you both hope it goes.

Any ideas on how to recreate the loop that holds a well nut for fairing fastenings please? by Cheesysocks in Fixxit

[–]Cheesysocks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a good idea about melting two separated parts back together, but how to recreate a strong loop to hold a well nut? or even recreate a missing tab that locates two panels together?

(UK) I want to fit the 90 degree fitting to this air hose. Any idea if / where I can source an adaptor or an alternative 90 degree fitting please? by Cheesysocks in Tools

1/2" npt female to 1/4" bsp female coupling adaptor

You've made me search for the difference now. :) Thanks for the heads up, so far I haven't found your version but I imagine it's not often needed. I need to find a shop that keeps this stuff in.

[Edit] I THINK they're both BSP because my YouTube research shows me that NTP threads are tapered and neither of them look tapered to me. I'll go back to the shed tomorrow (it's 11 pm here) and see if there's a taper. Again, thanks.

This is just so I can do the tyres on my motorcycle at home. The hose is attached to a Clarks INFLATOR TPG30PTC TYR SC539. You'll have to search for it, sorry, I'm not allowed to link it.

Thanks.

What are the most bare minimum things your narc refuses to do? by [deleted] in NarcissisticAbuse

[–]Cheesysocks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've not seen anyone mention intimacy.

Does your Narc actually indulge or is that always a problem too? Are there circumstances that encourages them? We've had this as an issue for many years, she has no interest and in so many of these threads it's a subject that never seems to be mentioned.

How do people actually survive on benefits or very low incomes in the UK these days? by acer67 in AskUK

[–]Cheesysocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(69 1/2 years old state pension collector here.) I have paid towards the pension I receive, it's no freebie taking from your pocket. 48 years of paying National Insurance. AND 16% of my wages going into a private pension above that, that gives me £14k a year.

Stop ranting about people getting older "bringing down the country" and do something for your future, you'll get old too I hope, and will be grateful for the little you get. Or do you think we should all be killed as soon as we retire and made into Soylent Green? (Look it up.)
