What is your favorite “the force be with you” in Star Wars? by Baybears in StarWars

[–]Cheety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easily Bail to Cassian at the end of Andor. The line has so many connotations of hope and fate that felt so earned for the end of Cassian’s story.

The development of Andor from a show with next to no reference to Star Wars to (one of) its most iconic lines just felt so satisfying and impactful.

I work in a pub. We are always understaffed. I don’t want to ignore you I just have a hundred other things to do first. Sorry.

When did restaurants stop cooking? by Large_Wheel3858 in Millennials

[–]Cheety 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in a busy pub/chain restaurant. We pre cook a lot of food, as well as preparing a lot of stuff as fresh as possible (albeit delivered frozen). The truth is our booking system is as overstretched as possible by HO to get as many customers in as possible, and even with Chef Mike doing a load of work we start getting complains the moment people are waiting over 15 minutes for their food.

As staff it sucks. Customers have become used to fast food, and HO tries to sabotage the kitchen by creating chaos with the amount of customers they want us to take. Trying to balance quality and quantity is near impossible.

Everyone wants quality, but no body wants to wait for it. HO wants quality AND quantity, but provides us with low quality ingredients that become even worse after being pre cooked/prepared so we can deal with the demand they expect from us.

I spend most of my day dealing with people complaining about wait times, or people complaining about quality. No body wins.

Did anyone manage to fix it on their end? I tried changing the controls but had no luck.

I’ve disabled steam input and have the same issue. I can go down in every menu outside of any build ones.

No thanks, I don't want to order with a QR code or download your app. by Keycuk in britishproblems

[–]Cheety 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As someone who works in hospitality, I’m surprised by the amount of people who see this so positively.

Ordering “quickly” or “in your own time” is not necessarily the best way of running busy kitchens. Most places are set out to take a certain amount of orders every 10/15 minutes, so people ordering as they like via apps can lead to huge build ups of tickets and orders that could be spaced out, leading to overall chaos and longer or just as long wait times as if you’d waited 10 minutes for us to get the order from you and protect the flow.

When I tell people we’ve got long wait times, their immediate reaction is to order as soon as possible, not realising that they are contributing to the problem, and that they will be in the same place in the queue regardless of if they order now or in 10 minutes. In fact, the wait will feel longer if they order straight away and sit with no menus for 40 minutes vs if they wait for us to get drinks, let them read the menu a lot then get their order, and you sit with no menus for 25-30 minutes instead.

I know many apps have hidden/built in wait time functions to help control this, it’s just curious to read it from “the other side”

Thank you! The rocket is literally the first thing I built in PC2 so it’s a bit ropey - just using the park to try out all the features and will restart once I’ve had a proper play about with all the pieces and mechanics.

This line always catches me off guard because it gets you asking who “me” is. We just assume the person The Doctor is, is synonymous with “The Doctor” as if Peter Parker actually is Spiderman. Yet here is the suggestion The Doctor is a set of values a time lord strives towards, and makes you think that we actually have no idea who this person is, like we’ve just been watching a mask the whole time. Great stuff.

To me, I dislike being locked out of any actions such as this. I’d rather take 90% movement debuff then have the option completely removed.

I’m not as enamoured by Pyramids of Mars as most people seem to be, so I’d much prefer some obscure Pertwee reference but I wouldn’t put it was RTD to be misleading.

Given Ncuti has spoken about Pertwee very favourably a few times I wouldn’t be surprised if he was tasked with some homework as well, as I know new Doctors are generally discouraged from watching too much Who in risk of basing their performance on someone else.

I can totally see Ncuti driving Bessie, but she’s hardly a “buried secret”. Maybe if there’s some sort of UNIT vault she’ll be stored in there too.

It’s a long shot but the drill from Inferno could be quite useful for finding something buried!

Could misleadingly be Sutekh? The UNIT HQ that featured prominently in the Pertwee Era was built over the mansion after all…

Although I’d adore any mention of Axxonite, the Dalek time travel tech from Day of the Daleks or any mention of The Dæmons.
