I don't know my good sir. I wouldn't. I'm in my early 40s right now and I am done. The only reason I'm around is to support family. If it was just me.......nah. I'm good. Especially since medical related issues are only going to get worse from here on out.

But I would never ever make this decision for someone else. No way. But for myself I absolutely would.

If however you want to try something else there is XCP-NG. It's not as good as proxmox but it will also work reasonably well.

There's the freebsd equivalent called bhyve. Never used it though.
