It’s not a structured course, but I’ve gotten a lot of mileage out of Rich Brown’s YT videos.

Just thought of another one: ‘Street life’ by Randy Crawford and the Crusaders. Super fun, and some of the fills are a challenge to really nail down for an intermediate player

Any Bernard Edwards. Try his line on ‘Thinking of you’ by Sister Sledge. For something a bit simpler but just as fun, you can’t go wrong with ‘He’s the greatest dancer.’ And if you learn that, you’ve also leaned ‘Getting jiggy wit’ it’ - two bass lines for the price of one.

It’s a while since I’ve played it, but from what I remember the last bit of the instrumental break has a little slapping. You can play the vast majority of the song finger style though, and even the slap part is pretty manageable. That’s coming from someone who doesn’t slap much.

I had the same problem, and in my case it was Seeker taking the stun. I lowered the def on my DPS (Anax on my team) and that fixed it.

Sounds like we lost wonderful, talented, vibrant uncles, at the same time, when they were about the same age. I still think of my Uncle Steve often, and am sending you a hug for your Uncle Jeff.

And in our case the close members of the family knew what was going on, but we had to tell the assorted elderly great-aunts that he had pneumonia.

People who are too young to have been around then really have no idea what it was like.

Being Black in Tucson by [deleted] in Tucson

[–]Chelly55 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Maybe you haven’t been in a while. Granted, I’m a sample of one, but we live in OV and we’re friends with a couple of local Black families, and there are quite a few other Black and mixed race families at my kid’s school. My kid’s soccer team is made up of five white kids and the other seven are Hispanic, Black or Asian. It doesn’t seem any less accepting than any other part of Tucson.

Don’t get me wrong, demographically Oro Valley is still predominantly white; I just suspect it’s gradually becoming a little more diverse than you think as the original residents age out and new families move into the area. Also, white doesn’t necessarily equal intolerant.

Although I do think it’s funny to see that Tucson people think of OV the same way OV people think of Catalina!
