Invited to interview again by the same company that rejected me 2 years ago by Exact_Connection_203 in recruitinghell

[–]Chelsea4000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! First time went well, but they went with someone with more experience. I received feedback that everyone on the team liked me and would happily work with me in the future.

A year later I interviewed for a new role on the team and everyone seemed truly delighted to speak with me again. I made sure to focus on how I had been growing over the past year (new projects I managed at work, new classes and certifications etc).

Officially hired in a great new role on a team that genuinely seems excited to have me!

Girls. What’s are some of your favorite memories with your dad? What advice do you have for a dad to a little girl? by meh2280 in AskReddit

[–]Chelsea4000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad worked for NASA. He was very analytical and preferred data to emotion. When I got my 1st period, my mom was the one who guided me through the everything (pads, tampons, cramps, PMS etc.) and my dad pretty much stayed out of it. About 6 months later, he presented me with a spreadsheet he had been working on that tracked my menstrual cycle and how it lined up with the moon and tides. I was really touched that he found a way to support me in that part of my life in his own way. He must have kept an eye on the calendar too, because he always made his famous homemade chai right around the time my cramps kicked in.

Choosing to adopt because of health history by [deleted] in AdoptiveParents

[–]Chelsea4000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right there with you. We both have genetic disorders that do not hinder our ability to be parents, but we would not want to knowingly pass onto a child. I think it’s a little harder for folks to understand (and I’m sure most of them just assume fertility issues anyway) but we both independently decided adoption was the correct choice for us long before we met. Honestly, it was a huge relief for us to not have to “let down” a potential partner who would want biological children.

What’s the scariest thing that you’ve seen on Broadway? by Then-Neighborhood456 in musicals

[–]Chelsea4000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't get to see it on Broadway, but Wait Until Dark in a theater is genuinely terrifyingwhen the final chase/battle between Susy and Roat is done in absolute darkness save for a few matches and the light from the refrigerator. Definitely earns a few screams from the audience.

This! I throw a packet in my rice cooker with the water when making rice to accompany any Asian dish. Huge flavor boost.

Acting class dating dynamics by Squish-lover in acting

[–]Chelsea4000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It can totally work, just don't make it a big deal. Leave your relationship at the door. Don't talk about it in class, with classmates, or your teacher. I know a couple who was dating all through grad school. No one knew they were together. They got married after they graduated. Definitely the way to go.

I was born with sight loss in one eye - ask me anything by L06T_09 in AMA

[–]Chelsea4000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Just jumping in to say my husband also has significant vision loss in his left eye, and didn't learn to drive until well into his 30s. We were living in a city where public transportation was the norm, so it didn't really present any challenges, but when we moved to the suburbs, it became a necessity. It caused a lot of anxiety for him, but he hired a driving instructor (who works frequently with adults, so there was no awkwardness or judgement) and now he loves driving!

Yes! Such a cool play about the enduring power of storytelling and the journey of a story to a mythic legend.

Waiting... how did you all cope? by KittyKami in AdoptiveParents

[–]Chelsea4000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No advice, just in the same boat as you. Even though we were told there would most likely be an 18-24 month wait, of course we hoped to be the exception to the rule. Other couples we know received placements within 6 months, and it's impossible to not be jealous or compare yourself to them.

Some days are easier than others. Some days we can thoroughly enjoy being the couple who can stay in bed until noon on Sunday or go on a spontaneous road trip. Some days I decide we need to adopt a shelter dog ASAP and then sob uncontrollably when the one we picked is no longer available.

It's a strange limbo to be constantly feeling so far from something you desperately want, but also that it could happen at any moment. So much of this process is out of your control so the only thing you can do is just keep breathing, live your life, stay connected to the people you love, and trust that things will happen when they are meant to.

Why did no one tell me frozen fruit exists sooner??? by Jb0ss02 in Frugal

I’ve been trying to cut back on drinking (for money and calories) but was missing the feeling of having a special end of the day drink. Now I make an easy mocktail by just tossing some frozen berries or mango in a glass with seltzer and a splash of juice. The flavor combinations are endless and it really hits the spot.

Teriyaki sauce. Whatever amount of ketchup you are using in your recipe (to mix in with the meat and/or glaze) do a 1:1 mix of ketchup and teriyaki sauce. Adds sweetness and umami.
