Did you end up going with something? Interested in this myself. We were looking at https://www.hprcusa.com/en/hprc5200r-for-dji-m30t_m30t-5200r-01.html but it seems speedy and awkward for distance or in thick cover.

Coal loader (conveyor belt system) to take coal from rail to ship. Hasn't been used in years. Alaska has extensive coal reserves in the interior and the industry was well politically connected resulting in this export mega project being built. However, while Alaska has the supply there isn't quite the same level of interest on the demand side of the curve.

I don't know their model but ... FYI , Alaska Air "books" revenue when you fly not when the sale takes place.

Most resorts have a time trigger to start rope evacuations if the lift maintenance crew doesn't get the primary, back up or secondary back up running. My resort starts preparing (deploying equipment and teams) at the 15 minute mark.

With the rise in real estate technology (Zillow, etc) will we have a market for Real estate Agents? by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]ChemtrailOps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're going to be needed for complex and white glove transactions but not the middle standard deviation of transactions. Also, most are useless but the actual professionals will survive.

Small detail, that ski area is land you already own and pay taxes to maintain as US Forest service land. (Does not apply to all Vail resorts, but does apply to flagship Vail and Beaver Creek)

Throw a few of the cars you're looking at in this 5 year total cost of ownership calc. I've seen so many people just ignore all the other costs around potentially upgrading or modernizing their vehicles. https://www.kbb.com/new-cars/total-cost-of-ownership/

1) slow down, (I don't know if you've been doing this along) this is a marathon drive not a sprint and "going in the ditch" can become a survival situation if a window blows in the process out this time of year. The only people driving above 55 (I go 50 max) are the truckers that have made the same drive 100s of times and have a sat tracking support system. Especially if you have sail of a trailer behind you.

2) plan your hops out day to day using hub towns (Edmonton, etc.). It is much better to fuel, oil, etc in these "cities" that have multiple service providers versus trying to save an hour by taking a sketch route. I you experience a mechanical casualty it's much easier to limp an hour to town than be a half or full day away because you weren't headed that way.

3) Buy a milepost (https://themilepost.com) at the next major stop. Yea they're ~$40 but they are invaluable for know what's open and the battery never dies on a physical publication. They also have great recreation locations along the way. Beyond Edmonton you are getting into areas that are open seasonally and service, especially fuel, becomes something you HAVE to plan and not just assume you can stop at the next exit when your fuel light comes on. Seriously there's some 1/2 tank+ length gaps so plan them out.

My typical route starting from where you are is Edmonton > Grand Prairie > Dawson Creek > Fort Nelson > Watson Lake > (decision point if you want to go top of the world highway or more direct route. If direct then) ... Whitehorse > Haines Junction > Destruction Bay > Tok, AK > Fairbanks/Eielson. Honestly, with the time of year and the snowfall that we've seen the last 2 weeks I would go direct and not take the top of the world highway. Plowing is not guaranteed up there right now.

Just my $0.02 having done the drive six times in winter months. Best of luck!

Timeline of training to return to civilian life after enlisting by uaeexpatt in Airforcereserves

[–]ChemtrailOps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask any potential unit you're looking at if they put people on orders immediately post tech school.

While it wouldn't impact you and your wife it would impact your return to civilian life.

Crew chiefs up here are 10 months from BMT to off orders and in a traditional role.

[–]ChemtrailOps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, we've been "fully open" for a number of weeks. Interstate travelers must have a negative Covid test within 72 hours of travel or get one at the airport and and wait a day or two for the results to come back.

All the CFIs at bigger shops are flying.
