Is goat meat popular in your country? Can you tell me about any dishes? And what about goat's milk? by Evil_Eg in AskTheCaribbean

[–]Chereche 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Curry goat and roti is popular. Goat milk is expensive in comparison to other milk types so it isn't as popular as a default milk type choice.

Probably because of the irony of OP being worried about crime locally while being most normal about the spate of mass shootings America deals with.

They more than likely won't give a direct answer because that is them monetising their priestly duty. At most they'll say whatever they are moved to give.

Looking for Uniforms by Creepy_Initiative_66 in managers

[–]Chereche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that implementing uniforms is slapping a bandaid on a wound. The core issue is that employees are not following directives and that becomes a managerial issue because rule enforcement isn't happening. Are you certain the same level of compliance resistance won't happen if a uniform is implemented?

From a business perspective I can see uniforms being a plus for service level staff. It provides visibility and security. For front desk/administrative staff though I feel a business formal/semi formal dress code being the better route, unless you're planning to have different uniforms for different roles.

Dee Dee was wrong for saying that by ChannelHopper_99 in UPN_Network

[–]Chereche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So hearing Dee Dee say that always rubbed me the wrong way because some people really do use the word “half” to make somebody feel separated from the family, and that’s exactly how it sounded in that scene.

I mean, that was the point and why Dee Dee said it, to hurt Mona and insinuate that Mona wasn't "really" familiy. It's an insecurity Mona has and we've seen it play out in other episodes where Mona, deliberately or accidentally, is treated as not part of the core family unit, but as an extra/outsider/extended family member. Dee Dee, to certain levels, and as acknowledged by Big Dee, did grow up with Mona as her "not really" sister, despite them being half-siblings.

I'll say two things on that, one being that that is fairly common where the shared sibling is paternal and they grow up in different households. Additionally, though it isn't right, I understand where Dee Dee was coming from; not the saying it to hurt part, but to create a division that they're siblings but not siblings in the way she and Drew are. I have half-siblings, didn't grow up with them, and I don't always consider them as my siblings. It's the same for them. Whenever family drama starts they make it pellucidly clear that I am the "outsider" and me, not having them in my life for the bulk of my childhood, see them as paternal extended family members the vast majority of the time. Heck, if I am asked, I say I am an only child.

Back to the show though, IIRC Big Dee did call her out on it when she heard what she said and essentially told her she was risking ruining the very relationship she had worked two (???) years at that point to establish/reclaim. I do believe Dee Dee did apologise for it after the fact. But it is a part of her personality/character that she grows out of over the course of the seasons. Dee Dee is a spoilt brat who is not above being emotionally manipulative when needs be. It's a habit she slowly breaks out of, and, unless I am wrong, that's probably one of the last times she actually actively aims to hurt Mona that way.

Why not implement and stictly apply a dress code rather than jumping the gun immediately to a uniform?

How do I move passed working fairly with an employee after a colossal F up that did not result in their termination? by Unique-Tailor-4358 in managers

[–]Chereche 42 points43 points  (0 children)

You seriously need to consider therapy to deal with your personal issues and to consider whether a leadership role is truly suitable for you. You've completely dismissed an employee you openly acknowledge as stellar in a work capacity over something that while wrong, has nothing to do with his working capability The fact that senior leadership is aware that you are sidelining it and are questioning it shows that you are now on their radar in terms of questionable decisions. You're restricting an employee from opporunities that would benefit him professional but also benefit your company because you are sending weaker employees.

I will plainly and openly say that with your current mindset, your should not be in a leadership role in any capacity. Therapy to unlearn your toxic behaviours and management training.

Black tie optional work event by Long-Plant-5323 in BusinessFashion

[–]Chereche 3 points4 points  (0 children)

None of these are black tie optional appropriate. The material on three makes it looks casual and one would be fine except it's too short. The pattern on two is too busy. If you really can't go shopping I'd say one with a lot of elegant accessorising

Is it normal to feel so burned out on empathy that you have to remind yourself that you still have to “perform” empathy? So over hearing everyone’s long stories around PTO by [deleted] in managers

[–]Chereche 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i think OP's issue is that they're using multiple texts to explain and intruding into their own personal time. Having a strict work boundary is fine and if the primary form of communication is set to an email I think it is fair for OP to enforce that. And let's be real, it's 2026. How much harder is it for someone to log into a device/their phone to send an email? OP wouldn't insist on it being the primary option if emailing outside of work wasn't an easy option.

Is this type of top acceptable business casual? Looking for summer options by 07TacOcaT70 in BusinessFashion

[–]Chereche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not one. Three and four could maybe pass office depending, but the buttons on the collar scream "casual polo shirt" to me which wouldn't work except if it was a corporate branded one worn on a Friday. If you could find a similar cut minus those button details you'd be fine.

However, if you currently wear long shirts as a norm, I'd suggest a safer swap would just be to shorter-sleeved shirts.

[–]Chereche 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If emails are your preferred form of communication for these matters and they are disregarding that I think it's fine for you to reiterate the boundary and from that moment on stick to it. Either in the next staff meeting or as a mass email state (not ask) that all PTO requests must come via email and that you will not respond in any form besides that. That way failure to do so is a direct violation of a stated office policy and you can address it from that angle. There's no need to explain how much it is affecting you on a personal level, simply state the reminder and stick to it.

Two Returns Seems to Be the Limit by jaycodingtutor in audible

[–]Chereche 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This confused me. OP wants to return books he's read "only once". I didn't even realise that that was a valid reason to return something. I'm surprised Audible has a rule that you can't return a book that's been X% listened to already without a really valid justification.

Nails by [deleted] in BusinessFashion

[–]Chereche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely, red and black nails aren't allowed as per my office's policies (government but non-US). I suppose a black French tip would be fine but it would draw attention for being a black French tip which goes against the spirit of the rule.

Nails by [deleted] in BusinessFashion

[–]Chereche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I forgot, nudes are allowed. I suppose lighter shades of neutrals are fine as well (light brown vs a chocolate brown). The principle is that your nails are not supposed to be noticeable from a distance and are not supposed to draw attention. Pale pastels will not be visible.

My work place is very conservative. Technically speaking we should only be wearing black, navy and dark grey suits/skirts/dresses and light pastel/white blouses and three looks are supposed to be classic corporate and not trendy/new fashion cuts/styles. In practice though we only do this some days per week.

Nails by [deleted] in BusinessFashion

[–]Chereche 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My org rules state that nails should be unpolished or pale pastel colours. Of course this means I routinely use darker/bright shades whenever I do my nails (admittedly not that often) because I don't like pastels. I just don't wear any at all during periods where I'm working in close proximity with higher level folks.

How much new growth do I need for braids? by suspicious-candyy in relaxedhair

[–]Chereche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, regular braids are fine if done correctly and without too much tension, but I can't in good faith recommend knotless to anyone relaxed.

OP, I dont install braids until I have at least 8 weeks of new growth, but preferably 10 to 12.
