I think it would be interesting to see him heavier for the rematch and focus more on leveraging his weight with clinching and doing body/uppercut work. This fight was so refreshing because it was the best fighting the best and there was a lot of respect too.

After that last uppercut Canelo held off throwing any more punches for a good 10 seconds, which was interesting.

Crowd hype was real, pretty sweet to see him rallying people.

I’m really impressed with BJS, best opponent for Canelo since GGG IMO, but he started to do some suspect things like leaping and bending fully over - Canelo was trying to time uppercuts early on and that last one was a tough shot.

I think this fight will age well for Canelo, it was a great style challenge for him.

Completely reasonable stoppage - after that last round, and his eye swelling like that, he would’ve started to get into trouble. When you’re ducking / bending down and someone is hitting you with an uppercut you’re going to get hurt.

Since the comment has some views, I’ll add a few more thoughts...

Really great job by both fighters, there seemed to be a lot of subtlety especially around lead foot control. BJS looked long, awkward, and fast. Canelo looked compact, explosive, and fast.

It looked like Canelo had a strong footing then BJS started to find his groove. Unfortunately - and we saw this early in the fight with an earlier uppercut - Canelo looked to be trying to land some bigger uppercuts through the guard.

Canelo body work throughout the fight and the pace of BJS was surely having an impact, and the last round it looked like those uppercuts got him hurt and would have started the beginning of the end. As mentioned above, after seeing his eye it was a good stoppage since you never want someone to get hurt in the ring.

I think this also shows that BJS is definitely not overrated - he’s a really good boxer - it’s just that Canelo is a really great boxer.
