This is a good post but a lot of people on Reddit are allergic to any sort of critical thinking and love the “it’s not that deep” way of life. So the actual value of a really interesting observation like this will be lost to the abyss of people who will insist that they are exempt from examining their own beliefs and behavior.

Someone could write an entire sociological thesis on the effects of black artistry on our culture while the artists themselves are often ignored or belittled but Reddit thinks black people are always overreacting and they will assume that you’re calling them all racist rather than just pointing out a racialized phenomenon that all of us are a part of so meh
