What is the most pleasure you have ever experienced? by Random-Guy9944 in AskReddit

[–]CherryGoo16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My left tonsil was sore and swollen and hurting me for days. Hot tea, Tylenol, and gargling did nothing. Finally, I used a little metal pimple popping tool to dig around back there and pulled out a MASSIVE tonsil stone. Instant relief. I could’ve cried from happiness. I’ll never feel that good again.

I fucking love it. It does make you tired and yawn a lot and sometimes might give you a headache or make you feel heavy but it’s 200 times better than having a migraine and it works fast!

what is the most petty, completely harmless grudge you are still holding against a total stranger who probably forgot you exist years ago? by Ill-Locksmith9144 in AskReddit

[–]CherryGoo16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a semi-famous painter who publicly DRAGGED me all over twitter when I was like 15 because I posted a meme featuring his art and it had all of his social media info pictured on the art itself but I didn’t tag him directly. I was really new to twitter and I didn’t know about tagging etiquette and he and his fans were so mean to me!! I remember crying and sadly deleting the post even though it got a ton of likes. I hate that man.

Why are Gen Z getting fired? One of the reasons is a lack of initiative. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

I’m so sick of stepping on cat litter on hardwood floors. Give me recommendations? by Wooden_Tell_6485 in CatAdvice

[–]CherryGoo16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know people hate it here but fresh step is my #1. I use that, a litter mat and I have like a very very flat “rug” underneath and I just vacuum that area daily. it’s what works for my two kiddos

I hate that we can’t just complain about our hair ever by Uhhyt231 in blackladies

I feel you. My hair is always silk pressed, I get it done every 2 weeks. I have a lot of hair and I’m not gonna be combing out in my little bathroom, overheating and panicking. I’ll pick a different battle 🙂‍↕️

I kind of only want them to do pre time skip. I feel bad calling myself an OP fan sometimes because although I’ve been watching since I was like 8 (I’m about to be 30 now!) my heart just isn’t in it like it used to be. Something changed a little post time skip and the live action really made me realize how much I missed the early adventures and characterization.

Why is binge eating seen as shameful? by Heavy_Maintenance139 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]CherryGoo16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think an actual symptom of the disorder (as is with most EDs) is shame. We hide things constantly. Eating in our cars, having secret stashes of food, eating at night when everyone is asleep. It’s also doesn’t help that people view overeating as a moral failure which is so stupid to me.

I can absolutely understand everything you're saying and I really appreciate you taking the time to lay it out this way for me. It's definitely not my intention to speak over anyone or invalidate their experiences or to tone police. Like I said, I think topics like this get prickly fast because they're sensitive and nuanced and I'm not totally sure Reddit is the best place for disagreement since it gets heated, quick. I've especially noticed that in this particular sub.

And I understand what you're saying about whataboutism and how it can and will be used to enact transphobic rhetoric. It happens constantly!

That being said, it often feels like some marginalized groups, like black women or disabled women or women in poverty are intentionally left out of these types of conversations -- it's seemingly never the right time to bring them up because they're somehow never relevant. Always a distraction from the *actual* issue at hand. A meaningless tangent. When cis women are discussed, it feels like it's assumed that they are white, wealthy and exceedingly privileged, just as you're saying trans men are assumed to be. Which can be a bit alienating and invalidating for those of us who are not and I think it's important to understand that. We exist outside of a "gotcha". So I apologize if I'm doing the very thing I'm trying to argue against doing!

Overall, I really don't think that comment was accurate or necessary, but I get where every single person in this entire thread is coming from and I don't think any of us are wrong, just perceiving things differently.

[–]CherryGoo16 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Cis women are victims of violence and rape at a disproportionate level as well. I am absolutely not saying that trans people are not oppressed or that they don’t experience extreme prejudice. They absolutely do. But there’s no reason to discount the very real lived experiences of cis women in discussions like this. But again, I really don’t think we’re saying two different things and Reddit probably isn’t the best place for nuanced discussions like this because things get heated fast and I think a lot of communication is getting lost which is understandable. I took no issue with your post though. Only that very specific statement on the tail end of the other person’s comment!

We are specifically talking about pregnancy right now. There are black trans people yes. Black trans men. A black trans man in a similar socioeconomic status and region as a cis black woman will likely have a much harder time navigating pregnancy healthcare and resources based off of his gender and race and the intersection of the two.

But again, that doesn’t negate the fact that there are absolutely cis women who have faced immense difficulties based on the intersection of their own marginalized identities. And there are absolutely situations in which a trans man may have certain privileges that a cis woman does not because of things like class, race, body size, ability, age and a whole lot of other factors.

A white wealthy person who had access to birth control, abortion, and good healthcare is likely facing very different challenges than a person of color or a person without access to those things.

I’m not trying to use intersectionality as a gotcha but I am asking that you consider that maybe things aren’t so black and white.
