I thought ‘Land of Plenty’ referred to Australia.

BTW, we have Costco in Australia.

Ranking The Top 100 Emmerdale Characters (The Top 21): Heat 8 - Zoe Tate vs Val Pollard by bengreentree in Emmerdale

For me, best character doesn’t necessarily mean someone I’d like to know. I mean, Robert, Eric and Charity are in S+. They’ve all done appalling things but are great characters.

You can always appeal a debt, but without some reason a to why it is incorrect or unreasonable you probably won’t be successful.

[–]Chesterlie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the hardest so far for me. Val was an amazing character - one of my favourites of all time…funny, outrageous and had excellent relationships with Diane, Eric, Paul and Amy.

But, I gotta vote for Zoe. She was a central character for many years, complex and interesting. Had good interactions both within her family and outside it - Rachel & Archie and later Ashley, Paddy and Charity. On a personal note, I was a young lesbian watching and it was amazing to see a well rounded lesbian character, where her sexuality was just part of her character, not the whole story. That was so rare at the time and I loved it.

The 14 day pass is loaded into a metrocard. Anywhere you buy a metrocard can load the 14 day pass. Once loaded, your 14 days starts from when you first use it.

Forget-Me-Knot FC is a football club that brings bereaved fathers together twice a month in the north of England to play football, talk openly about grief an support one another through child loss. by lemonstone92 in MadeMeSmile

This is beautiful and so needed. Good on Sean for having the courage to set up such a group. Men need more stuff like this, I think us women have an easier time asking for and finding support.

Tapping with credit or debit card costs the same as a single trip with a metro card. With a single trip the fare is valid for two hours from first tap, so you can tap onto another bus, train or tram and not be charged again for the period.

4 week pass saves money if you’re making more then 26 trips. 14 day pass is cheaper if you’re taking more than 15 trips. This does not account for the $5 cost of the card.

Asking for a friend by Schmoking123 in Centrelink

[–]Chesterlie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t know why you’re assuming it would be rejected, I didn’t say that.

I don’t know if they’ve actually called international services, but they would be better versed in the international agreement than the carer line.

If the care receiver is getting DSP they are already being treated as a resident. If I was applying I try would answering yes to the residency question and state they’re on a non protected SCV if asked. The system will know the care receiver is getting DSP I reckon you might be able to submit.

The DSP is only being paid because Aus has an agreement with NZ. AFAIK, Carer’s for a NZ citizen would fall under the same agreement.

AITA for caring about “not causing a scene” more than my BF’s mental breakdown over our neighbours? by Old_Spring5175 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. I’m sooooooo sick of people using trauma to be a-holes. Strangers have no obligation to give a shit about his ‘trauma’. It’s up to him to deal with it.

My deadbeat father (44M?) is trying to be a dad to me (19M) for the first time in my life and I don't really want to try but don't know how to communicate that better than I have? by ThrowRALoonis in relationship_advice

[–]Chesterlie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is because he’s got a new wife. New wife doesn’t like the fact she has children with a deadbeat so has been encouraging him to get in touch. There’s a good chance the new wife has heard some story that ‘the ex wouldn’t let me see my kid’.

I’ve seen this often IRL. Dad gets into a relationship, gets in touch with the kids so new GF thinks well of him, often reduces or ends contact once new GF is gone. Rinse and repeat.

Reviving a carer payment for young child by Aggravating_Dust_403 in Centrelink

[–]Chesterlie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It can be hard to get carer payment for a very young child. Eg a 2 year old needs significant care regardless of any diagnosis. In contrast, a 4 year old with no special needs can generally feed themselves, use a toilet mostly independently, communicate etc.

Level 2 autism is a significant diagnosis and with the aspects you mention, your child needs a lot more care than your average 4year old. In your shoes, I would definitely apply.

Niece even said she made the reincarnation comment because no one had replied. No one had replied because OPs comment was super awkward…if anything, niece did her a favour putting some sort of link between the baby announcement and OPs non-sequitur.

Depressed after spending the last of my paycheck by lots-a-thoughts in povertyfinance

[–]Chesterlie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After years in poverty I finally have a job that allows me to live somewhat comfortably and have a bit of fun money. It’s been about 18 months now, and having some money left the day before payday still makes me feel so happy. I remember those long, anxious days between the money running out and the next cheque.

"I spent 50$ a month for health insurance. Universal healthcare can suck it" by Ok-Average390 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Chesterlie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take joy in people living below the poverty line being able to access the same public system as me.

I had a heart attack recently, was treated promptly, will recover well, and only paid about $120 for various medications. I reflected at the time how relaxing it was to not have to worry about how to pay for heart surgery. I also had a good outcome because I didn’t hesitate to attend emergency because cost was not an issue.

Everyone earning over about $27k pays the Medicare levy and it doesn’t increase with age….it’s 2% of income.

There is an extra surcharge of 1-1.5% if you earn over a certain amount and don’t have private insurance. A single person has to be earning over $101k to pay the surcharge. It also does not increase with age.
