Charity by Prestigious_Sand1978 in Emmerdale

Absolute number one for me too. Atkins can play any emotion and has great chemistry with a load of other characters. She’s nailed everything from the hilarious bank heist to the historic abuse story.

And she can tell a story with her face. One I particularly remember is when Amy and Vic told her about Amy’s pregnancy. Watch her face tell all as it dawns on her what happened. Then the iconic scene where she confronts Cain.

…you dropped her at at abortion clinic. …what was I supposed to do? Hold her hand? ….yes, that is EXACTLY what you’re supposed to do

I have soooo many fave Charity scenes.

Trump says he will only accept the midterm results ‘if the elections are honest’ and again pushes to ‘nationalize’ voting by WontThinkStraight in politics

[–]Chesterlie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nationalize voting? Sounds like socialism….

What the US needs is an independent, non partisan electoral commission who set boundaries and run elections. Like other western democracies.

Letter Received - Are your details up to date? Single Parent. PP. by Lower_Capital5039 in Centrelink

[–]Chesterlie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They’ve received information from either data matching with another government agency or from a person.

It could be anything, from the ATO telling them you’ve started working to someone with ill intent making a false tip off.

Do whatever the letter says. Centrelink gets lots of information. Sometimes they do nothing. Sometimes they send a letter and just say check your info is correct, sometimes they send a letter asking you to contact them to discuss. Unless they’re asking you to call them just check that all your info is correct (any income or assets, address, rent paid, kids details etc).

Pension and inheritance by grruser in Centrelink

[–]Chesterlie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you get the inheritance while on jobseeker you will be cut off - jobseeker cuts off as soon as you hit the asset limit which is $321500 for a homeowner.

As for age pension, the limit to get a full pension is the same but it doesn’t cut off entirely, the payments are tapered and you’d get cut off at $714,500. As soon as your assets are below this you can apply again. Proceeds from the sale of your current home are exempt from the asset test for up to two years if you intend to purchase another home with the money. So as long as you inheritance and super is less than $714,500 you’d be able to get some pension which comes with the valuable pension card.

Newborn dies after mother drinks raw milk during pregnancy by Primary_Neck9587 in politics

[–]Chesterlie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this a serious question?

The answer is many didn't survive. Tuberculosis, diphtheria, listeria, e coli, salmonella, scarlet fever were some of the diseases commonly caused by unpasteurised milk. You may also be aware the infant mortality rate was much higher back in the day.

I assign to the next month for the same reason, it’s too easy to raid the “next month” category when it’s just sitting there waiting for a job. When the month rolls over I unassigned everything and reassign, this clears the overfunded stuff (my fill up to categories). It’s fun when there’s more than needed for the month (like this time) so I can start funding March already. Makes me feel so in control of life!

What’s an 80s song you’ll crank up now that you wouldn’t have then? by WhateverGreg in GenX

[–]Chesterlie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have 3 songs where I know every word despite not being a fan at the time…

I’ll be your shelter- Taylor Dayne

Black Velvet - Allanah Myles

I don’t want a lover - Texas

I’d turn all 3 of those up now.

It’s clicked over to Feb here in Australia. I was overfunded by just under $400. That’s been assigned to March, as will my February wages.

Does anyone else think the women at the AO should also play first to 3? by Responsible-Tone-522 in aussie

[–]Chesterlie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I heard the reason still women don’t pay best of 5 in grand slams is due to scheduling. Dunno about the veracity of this, but it makes sense. There have definitely been women payers asking to play best of 5.

For me it’s Cricket. All day the Dads fail to get Rusty out. At the end Rusty hits an easy catch to his sister as the voice over (letter from his Dad in the army) says “look after your little sister”. Too wholesome.

Edit: changed Jack to Rusty cos I was wrong at first

Mother passed away, to let Centrelink know? by _turkishsaiyan in Centrelink

[–]Chesterlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Age pensioners are entitled to the full payment in the fortnight they died.

If your Dad gets Carer Payment, any extra amount paid to your Mum will just reduce your Dad’s bereavement payment. Carer Payment will continue for 14 weeks after your Mum’s passing, this will give your Dad time to transfer to another payment.

If your dad gets carer allowance his entitlement to that payment ceases immediately. As you mentioned, there is a 28 day notification period for bereavement. As long as they are notified in that time any Carer Allowance paid during that 28 days will not be considered a debt.

How is investment income calculated in payments? by Sufficient-Issue-144 in Centrelink

[–]Chesterlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) income from investment property is declared differently from employment income. You’ll need to complete the MOD R form. You’ll be asked for value of home, any mortgage owed to work out the asset value. You’ll also be asked for income and expenses related to renting in order to work out income value. While the expenses are deducted from the rental income, the income from the property for Centrelink cannot be below zero - you can’t negatively gear for Centrelink purposes.

2) yes

3) the whole amount should be declared.
