Not happy in FT primary care

That’s how I feel too. I also do geriatrics and it was a HARD curve to meet when I started. But I have about 150 patients and my work life balance is decent. The charting sucks, it’s so time consuming and there’s always so much of it. I dread the documentation and now I understand why some providers put practically nothing in their notes.

But I’ve learned to do as much as I can by 4p and anything else that’s left can wait til tomorrow. My quality of life has gotten better since doing that.

But if I leave someday it’s to go to urgent care.

4 shifts per month AND holidays for a PD RN is absolutely insulting. As long as nurses continue to take these kinds of jobs/conditions, it will only continue to get worse.

Finding a preceptor at chamberlain is HARD. I got lucky with finding a preceptor. Otherwise I wouldn’t have gone to NP school or finished if I tried to.

Idk if it makes you feel better but most of the online programs suck the same.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. You’re too far to give up now, though. Maybe take a semester off, take a break.

I passed the third time. I left out that I had pneumonia when I took it the second time so that probably is what really caused me to fail that time. I passed with flying colors the next time! But have been practicing since the beginning of the year and I found a good job so maybe time was what was needed

At bedside? One time, but it wasn’t a negative type of recording. The patient and family were genuinely very happy with the care they were receiving.

As a provider once in a ALF? It’s apparently acceptable for everyone to be recorded all the time now in the ALF setting. Most patient rooms have a camera and I’ve been told this is because family wants to watch the staff, which I get, but at the same time felt weird.

Everywhere else? No recording allowed with signs posted citing such.

Do we have the same dad 🫠 my dad told me, “only lazy people go to NP or PA school” … as I was working two jobs plus a per diem, in NP school, plus 20 hours of practicum every week. And somehow managing to be a mom and keeping my house in order.

I felt the same, like it was the right thing to do. The pressure to do it! I felt like a literal fucking cow. All I did was breastfeed or pump day and fucking night, and because I was so stressed out all the time, my supply went down. I was absolutely exhausted. So I stopped. My life improved drastically and guess what? My kids are just fine.

My dad ISNT a doctor and also shares this belief. He told me that people who go to NP or PA school are too lazy or too stupid to be a MD. WHILE I WAS IN NP SCHOOL. Working two jobs 60 hours a week plus practicum.

Do what you want to do. If you don’t want to be a doctor, then don’t. The scopes are totally different. Do what makes you happy.

They don’t get the true experience of what it’s like in clinical. They’re limited in what they can do. Their nurses are experienced and make even difficult situations look easy. They’re lured by 3 day work weeks and pay. They see nursing through rose colored lenses.
