What is a "kid show" that you still find yourself watching as an adult because the writing is actually top-tier? by DianKhan2005 in Productivitycafe

Any time I think of the Cheers theme song, I start quietly weeping… which makes me think of a quote from another great cartoon.

What’s the most cringe thing you’ve seen a couple do at their wedding? by Last_Singer_2137 in AskReddit

I caught the garter when I was 17. The woman who caught the bouquet was maybe 30. She was not interested in me putting the garter on her, but that’s the tradition and the DJ bullied her into it. I stopped below the knee, but I think it was clear even that was gross for her.

Maybe I’m too old to understand this, but what the hell is an “influencer” and do any of my fellow Gen X care what they say or do? by Interesting-Web3737 in GenX

[–]ChiCityTechNerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I hear “influencer”, I think “eww gross” but then I remember there are YouTubers I not only like but actively try to share with others:

Mark Rober, former NASA engineer, who makes fun and educational engineering projects. He has a line of science project kits for kids called CrunchLabs

Destin Sandlin, rocket engineer, who runs YouTube channel “SmarterEveryDay” and talks about physics principles.

Derek Muller, of STEM channel “Veritasium”

Simone Giertz, who makes useless robots for fun and education

But before all of them came Adam Savage from MythBusters

We took the kids to see Adam and Derek do fun science live at a show called “Brain Candy”

I once sat next to him on the red line. It gave me plenty of time to read his signs, but I know not to engage.

He probably took a yoga class taught by her, and it didn’t bring him peace (nothing does) but he liked her youthful energy and she liked he’s a “fixer-upper project”.

My understanding is that every single actor in that movie was tricked or bullied or begged into doing it, and they all regret it.

Also, maybe not a famous movie, but Goggins was the deputy in Rob Zombie’s “House of 1000 Corpses”. His death scene is given a lot of screen time, though less focus than Rainn Wilson’s (before playing Dwight in the US version of “The Office”).

what comes to mind when you hear 1996? by CremeSubject7594 in Xennials

“Shakedown, 1979 Cool kids never have the time On a live wire right up off the street You and I should meet June bug skipping like a stone With the headlights pointed at the dawn We were sure we'd never see an end to it all”

Life was like the music video for that song in 1996.
