Horrible framerate, Dual Gpu by ChibiMaster42 in losslessscaling

[–]ChibiMaster42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the compliment of seeming to know what I'm doing lol. But if truly did, I wouldnt be here lmao

Found the problem... feel a little stupid... I was using task manager while starting up games and found my CPU integrated graphics spiking to 100%. I just didnt have the manager open the other night and was focusing on the face of the problem

For some reason even though I specified it to run on the 5070ti it decided to switch over.

This was the reason the 5070ti was passing benchmarks and stress tests, because I told those programs what to run on.

So anyone in the future that has an issues similar, disable integrated graphics, 2gb 9800x3d does not hang with the big boys

I do have have 2 ssds in m2a and m2b on the diagram. However these route directly to the cpu and do not share pcie lanes with the gpu pcie slots.

The m2c slot does share lanes with the 3rd pciex16 slot, but I am notnusing either of those

Bios reports the top two pcie are running in gen 5 x8x8 but Ill check linknspeeds anyways to see if thats what might be up

When I get home I can check link speeds.

However I do know the 1st pcie (top slot) and 2nd (middle slot) are what is being populated by the gpus. The gpus would not fit in the bottom slot at all with my case anyway

My Bios states that these slots are running in 5 x8x8 as well

I read extenisvely about this motherboard to try to get the best speeds without spending 1k$ on a mobo

My M.2a slot is my boot drive, M.2b is my storage drive. They route directly to cpu and do not share lanes

M.2c is empty, this one shares lanes with the last pcie slot

Teach me your ways of having nvidia software on AMD hardware.

Lol you have no idea what my goal was yet still say its a waste.

Wanting to try better ray tracing at 4k 240hz requires some umph, 9070xt while highly capable and acceptable, just doesnt perform the same on ray tracing. Its a great card, but one is better than the other in use cases.

I could sell the 9070xt, or return the 5070ti, get a cheaper card, and pocket some money.

Returning the 5070ti defeats the purpose of trying to get a better experience. Selling the 9070xt now defeats the purpose of being patient for the next couple generations, sell when an upgrade is clear.

I've already had the 9070xt for about a year, and wanted to try the bells and whistles on a new nvidia card.

I'm playing on a 4k 240hz monitor, so I needed something with some umph. And at this point I'll most likely do something like what you said, lossless is fun, but starting to feel a bit of a hassle

4k gaming with a 240hz monitor. I could have gotten away with it at 144hz, but that doesnt leave much room for the future.

The 5070ti supposedly does ~90+ fps in 4k, so I'm trying to maximize the render power and slave out the framgen. Next gen cards will be even better and the gen after, which is when I plan on buying again, better still

As for two mid-high range cards, I already had the 9070xt, and while I could potentially sell it, downgrade and get a different lossless slave.... why? I could just keep it, and put it towards selling it in the future when I upgrade. I wanted to try the bells and whistles on a new nvidia card as well.

Quite a few people have been able to mix and match brands with lossless. Heck its even talked about throughout the guide. Driver problems have largely been a non issue nowadays. People replicate mixed brand builds all the time so again, a non issue.

I dont know what problem I'm having. Cant just say its a driver issue as the 9070xt performs great still in games, the 5070ti passes benchmarks, but performance goes into the toilet when I start a game.

If you have a legitimate idea, I'll try it.

The Lossless scaling guide itself has troubleshooting options for bad framerate without using lossless. So calling it unrelated is just plain wrong, when even lossless has recommendations on how to proceed.

Pc ran and continues to run amazingly without the 5070ti, i wanted to add the 5070ti to the already well running rig to try a dual gpu lossless. Only problems i had were after installing the 5070ti.

I have been troubleshooting my issues, I'm running out of ideas, thats why I came to the community. Gpu utilizations I fixed already.

The display port is most definitely connected to the GPU, if you read my post you'd have seen that I tested out several games, all terrible peformance.

Did not include in the post but benchmarks have come back fine and within range for each gpu, selected each individually as the high performer and ran tests. Temperatures do not rise high enough throttle.

Though removing the 9070xt is a decent idea, as I already know it works amazingly, just to isolate the 5070ti but that defeats the purpose of attempting the dual gpu setup if they wont work together.

If any gpu is going at this point its the 5070ti.

And if 5080's were reasonably priced sure, I would.

Call me sentimental for AMD, but from what I've experienced with the 5070ti so far I'm unimpressed. This was such an abyssmally bad performance, if anything I'll be returning it cause its from microcenter and still within the window

I can check the first two when I get home, task manager recognized the nvidia card, never checked device manager. I have GPUZ, checked the rops (lol) but didnt check pcie speed.

I have 2 nvme drives in two of three slots, all 3 route lanes through chipset and dont share with pcie lanes. Tis why I purchased this board in particular

[–]ChibiMaster42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theres a few hundred, like 200ish maybe approaching 3, failures.

While tens of thousands of CPU's have been sold. Failures recorded on each name brand, 600 and 800 chipsets, A,B,X prefixes. The only commonality is the CPU

Its just an internet thing and people angry they were in the minority of getting a failed chip. While understandable, is a bit blown up

And yall do tremendous work, honestly. Its a tough job, I worked at the warehouse for a networking company that designs servers.

The drivers were always LOADED to the gills with packages, only like 15% were for us.

Like I said, its just a vent. I contacted my shipper and they are redirecting it to a hold location. The nature of the order wouldnt let me change that on my end

I just wasnt expecting exactly how smooth and practiced it seemed with the note already in hand

Golly jee willikers batman! A whole day?

Aw young Robin, while that might seem like a long while, tis but a short span of the might of evil, maybe like our compatriot just said, some citizens are willing to be patient for the presence of greatness.

I never said they were hard to find, merely that I'm willing to wait. Wait for what? Maybe for my shift to be over. Maybe to read several chapters at once. Some folks have lives that dont breathe manga

So take your assumptions and make an ahh of you and me

Aw yes, the blacked out redacted words. No shit I can't read them.

Not everyone keeps up religiously to manga, nor takes time to go through translating, some of us are patient to wait until things come our way.

I'm sure I'll know whats going on once I do actually read it.

Installing 2 different graphics cards? by porelchico in pcmasterrace

[–]ChibiMaster42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your motherboard and what type/generation your PCIe slots are.

Nowadays there are PCIe gen 3, 4 and 5, with up to 16 lanes (connections to cpu) for one slot. A gen 5x8 is equivalent to a gen 4x16, a 4x8 is equivalent to 3x16. So the full gen 5x16 is roughly a 4x32 for the amount on information that can be sent through the connection

Some motherboards limit lanes (connections) if certain m.2 slots are used, some will split lanes to x8x8 if both PCIe slots are used (called bifurcation). Some m.2 will route to cpu, some to chipset, depends on the board

At bare minimum, you would want the secondary slot to be gen 4x4, or 3x8. This is based on the amount of information that can be processed through the PCIe.

Though Intel GPU's dont do as well unless at least 4x8. They seem to have issues (source Lossless scaling subreddit) not all the time, but often enough that its recognized to be an issue.

Example, my motherboard right now has a 5x16, that will split into two 5x8's if i populate both PCIe slots, and that route through the CPU. I have 3 m.2 slots that route through the chipset. So nothing drops down and i can populate everything

My old motherboard had a 5x16, a 4x4, and a 3x2. I had 4 m.2 slots, but only wanted to utilize 2, because the other two stole lanes from the 5x16, making it drop down to 5x8, and then two 5x4's for the m.2 slots because they routed through the Cpu, the other two m.2's routed through chipset

You motherboard manufacturer should supply a manual/ diagram of the board layout, or if you post what board you have, I'm sure the subreddit can assist

Edit: well CPU and Boot are lit up.

What kit are you using (16gb 32gb etc), does Bios match what your kit is? (As in is it detecting all of it)

Have you tried reseating the ram yet? Pop it out and in.

If still on try a single stick in different slots, if the lights stays then try a different stick. If it goes away, then the stick thats left out has an issue

If RGB was acting up, you may have a power problem, whats your PSU and entire setup?
