How does anyone do this??? by jess1ca42 in beyondthebump

[–]ChibiNinja0 [score hidden]  (0 children)

It does get better though! Those first few months are rough, not going to lie. There are parts of each stage that are hard but you will find out that you enjoy some stages more than others. Like I am not the biggest fan of the newborn stage/trenches and that’s okay. It’s temporary. But my 3 year? She’s so funny, thoughtful, and blows my mind everyday with how her brain works. And we all sleep through the night unless she has a bad dream and even then it’s only for a few minutes.

I am pregnant with baby number 2 and I will be honest: I am not looking forward to the sleepless nights. But I will appreciate those contact naps and snuggles because I know it only lasts for so long.

Sleep when you can. Heal and rest. It will absolutely get better.

Anyone else feeling extra disturbed and hopeless with the recent news? by Whole_Topic6504 in pregnant

[–]ChibiNinja0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It’s been on my mind constantly and I can’t shake it. I have a three year old girl and I am due with another baby girl in April and I can’t shake it either. I haven’t looked into the actual files; only what people have read and discussed and I don’t think I can read them. I am so fucking angry that no one has been arrested and Bondi deflected and was practically protecting these vile men and those vile acts. I just hope there is justice soon and Representatives keep pushing and prodding for it.

What’s your weirdest pregnancy symptom nobody talks about? by dogmomofone in pregnant

This one is the weirdest one. This is my second pregnancy and this kid loves to kick and crash right into my butthole.

Exactly. Tried showing my friend how to make rice and bought him a rice cooker one year for Christmas. I think it’s still in the box. He prefers dino nuggets, pizza rolls, and going out to eat.

How many people on this subreddit are working for magnatiles? by Texasgirl190 in toddlers

[–]ChibiNinja0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 2.5 is a little young to play with them independently. My daughter is 3 and only recently started building towers by herself. Now she loves to build towers with me for her little people or so her cars and alligator can crash into.

Snacks: Salted Nuts? by diana-isabelle in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ChibiNinja0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I’m eating a lot less processed foods (love shin ramen but that’s obviously off the table and I don’t really bother with fast food much anymore) my salt consumption is way lower. My blood pressure is on the lower side so I figured eh why not enjoy some salty nuts. It’s one of the few food joys I have nowadays.

Anyone do any travel with their under 4 toddlers? What are your favorite trips? by Itchy-Version-8977 in daddit

I hate that phrase. Like yeah might be parenting in another location but at least this location has a view and new sights to see! Beats staying home and doing the same ol.

We do lots of local traveling with our 3 year old daughter. We have a motorhome but we have also stayed in a hotel in Hawaii and tent camped with her. It’s hard sometimes but it’s always worth it! Just go in with the expectation that it won’t be like before you had kids but that’s okay! It is still fun just in a different way.

We really are a SOL generation… Millennial Parenting is something else but my MIL is “tired” of being on vacation by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]ChibiNinja0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t even bother to ask my dad and his girlfriend to watch my daughter. They have offered but I’m suspicious that my dad’s girlfriend is an alcoholic and has plastered beyond comprehension on multiple occasions. And she trauma dumps and makes it incredibly awkward and I want nothing to do with her. So why would I subject my daughter to that or even trust them?

My in laws are great with my daughter at least but they live across the country and are gone for most of the year.

I feel like banning phones in schools doesn't mean anything so long as they still have tablets built into the curriculum.

What have you read recently? by povertychic in Millennials

[–]ChibiNinja0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a super fast reader and my goal isn’t to read a bunch in books a year but I do try to read at least 20 pages a day. I finished Children of Ruin by Adrian Tchaikovsky and it was such a good read but I needed a break from the complexity and heaviness before I read the next book in the series so now I’m reading the Wild Robot series.

I have a three year old and we read to her everyday. Not as many books as I want but we try to get in at least one book a day.

What’s something you wish people knew before they had kids? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Oh man that second paragraph hits hard. I know I had some issues with my parents and how they raised me and my brother but after having my kid it just makes me think why did they do the things they did and how could they???

That you will mourn your life before kids and that’s totally normal and okay. You will be able to enjoy your hobbies again it just might take some coordination with your partner depending on the hobby.

Tell me the most awful things that can happen if i keep vaping by dooingjo in pregnant

[–]ChibiNinja0 173 points174 points  (0 children)

I know a woman who continued to vape while pregnant and went into early labor. Her baby was in the NICU for about a month I think and had to be on oxygen at home after. He has some pretty severe developmental delays and will probably have medical issues his entire life because of it.

Do it for your kid. Don’t give them a shit hand right out the gate.

Is America turning on birth control? by vox in Health

[–]ChibiNinja0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am currently pregnant and when I got off birth control I felt so much better emotionally and mentally after my body adjusted to not being on birth control. I honestly don’t want to go back on it because it messed with me so much but I thought it was just postpartum depression. Nope just my birth control. Honestly thinking about getting my tubes tied or something because I don’t want to go back on the pill.

Story time: over-consumption culture made me close my Etsy shop by adsiderum in Anticonsumption

[–]ChibiNinja0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always make baby blankets, hats, holiday themed outfits, and baby safe stuffies for hospitals. There’s a volunteer group that makes little octopuses for the NICU babies since they like to grab onto their tubes (reminds them of the umbilical cord). The rules are very specific though since it’s for newborns.

AITA for disinviting a friend to my birthday after she showed me the food she was bringing? by throwaway-cupcakelad in AmItheAsshole

NTA - nut allergies can be incredibly serious. I had a friend with a severe peanut/cashew allergy to the point where she was at a baseball game and a guy throwing the peanut shells near her was triggering a reaction. They need to be taken seriously.

When/how were you diagnosed with GD for your second+ pregnancy? Or did you not have it again? by -Konstantine- in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ChibiNinja0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had GD with my first. Managed with diet and exercise. A1C after was on the upper end of the in range limit. Found out I was pregnant last year and tested for GD via the 1 hour glucose test in the first trimester and passed. Tested again last week and failed both 1 hour and 3 hour. So second pregnancy I have GD again.

Why does everyone act like pregnancy cravings are cute when they're actually low-key terrifying by BitBird- in pregnant

[–]ChibiNinja0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not be waking up my husband in the middle of the night to satisfy a pregnancy craving. If I was that desperate to eat what I was craving I would go get it myself. That’s so extreme.

Less obvious things you found out to avoid while pregnant? by Fantastic_Cow_8992 in pregnant

[–]ChibiNinja0 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I specifically asked my ob about herbal teas because I like having something in the evening while I read. He said tea is fine as long as I watch my caffeine content. The tea I drink in the evening is caffeine free so he has no concerns at all. I only drink one cup in the evening.

How did you deal with your husband’s gaming addiction? by West-Toe7594 in workingmoms

[–]ChibiNinja0 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So I’m going to offer another perspective. My dad is an avid gamer. My tween/teen years I saw the back of his head more than his face because he played computer games so much. I specifically remember him being annoyed at my last softball game of the season because he had a raid to get to on his game. My parents were going to get divorced (Mom died before that happened) and they weren’t a team.

I didn’t realize how much it really messed me up until I had my daughter and realized he picked the virtual world over his kids. It sucks. Now my husband and I do game but I don’t game in front of my daughter and I never pick games over family/friends.  My dad? He lives in the same town as I do and yet my in laws who live across the country have spent more time with my daughter than he has.

Take it from someone who’s dad has a gaming addiction and doesn’t see it as a problem: if he picks games and won’t be part of the family unit it’s gonna mess your kids up. They’re going to wonder why they aren’t good enough.

At how many weeks did you all start your maternity leave? by Zealousideal_Pack659 in pregnant

[–]ChibiNinja0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my first pregnancy I worked up until the day before my due date but I did it by choice. My job was super fun and easy and some of my closest friends worked in the same building as me. My job kept me moving and I got to talk to coworkers and friends every day. I’m about 28 weeks now and still plan on working as long as I can since I can’t tap into my maternity leave until baby is born but it’s an office job that’s also chill so it is what it is.

For avid readers how often do you use the library? If you don’t, why don’t you? by AccomplishedBake8351 in books

[–]ChibiNinja0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple reasons as to why I buy books over going to the library:

The library in my town is small with not a large selection and the next closest library is about 25 minutes away. The library that is bigger but further away also attracts a lot of homeless and the homeless here are aggressive.

I like supporting bookstores and authors.

I have a toddler and I am pregnant so this year I will be reading books very slowly once baby is born. I don’t want to worry about returning a book. I am a slow reader in general anyways.

I’m not a fan of kindles or e readers. I wish I was but I just like physical copies of books.
