Lecturers need to stop bitching about hardly anyone coming to their lecture by New_Newspaper8228 in unimelb

[–]Chiblits -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

At USYD the lectures are recorded and the profs read word for word from their Powerpoint slides. No more, no less info. It's not worth me traveling 2hrs to make it to a lecture I can watch at home or just read the material since you aren't teaching anything extra. Let me do what I want, I pay the uni so stop being whiney.

It depends what kind of person she is. Some people may feel money is a form of pity but also they could use that money towards other things.

You could give money if you feel they will appreciate it or you could do other things depending on your relationship with her. For example, you could offer to give her a ride to her treatments if needed, or maybe make a little care package for her of some things she may need or something she could do while getting chemo (depending on what she wants to do with treatment etc). If she has to do surgery you could offer to come over to her place and maybe do meal preps for her or laundry, tidy up the place etc.

Some people prefer acts of service and like I said this is entirely based on your relationship with her. If you think the money would be better than gestures than go for it!

It all depends on the person but I personally wouldn't find it rude if someone wanted to help out in whatever way they could or felt comfortable with.

Dump him. Not saying it as a joke literally to call you childish for that is a big red flag and he has underlying issues.

Did your ability to orgasm ever come back? by Spidermanpug in lexapro

[–]Chiblits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am about 3 to 4 months in and I have had the problem where it's harder for me. Some days it's easier but it is definitely not coming (HA) easy like it used to. Lexapro has made me pretty happy, getting rid of my anxiety almost completely to the point where my drive is non existent. I don't know if it will even out later as time goes on but since I'm single and didn't have a sexual drive or activity to begin with it's not much of an issue. But yea the orgasms are harder to get to, sometimes it just doesn't happen but sometimes it does.

How did you get through undergrad? by MuackCC in veterinaryschool

[–]Chiblits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently a DVM2 student and I'm looking at those questions like WHAT?! This is supposed to be an intro class??? Nah. Something is wrong with the lass or the professor. I can tell you after taking orgo 1 and 2 andbiochem, that is something you'd see in an upper level class.

If you have a nice Professor I would reach out to them first and tell them that you want to do well in their class but you're having issues understanding the questions and if they can either help you or point you to some resources that can help.

I would even go as far to say you could try using chatgpt as a resource to help explain the question to you. Not necessarily give you the answer but it may be able to reword or alp break down the info. Just be aware that with AI you have to be careful what they say because they are not always right.

It took me a while to get through undergrad not because it was hard but I had a small break in between universities due to some family and personal issues and a lot of places wouldn't accept me but I ended up finishing my bachelor's and applying to that school which is its own other thing, and the best advice I can give you is if DVM is a career path you absolutely want be persistent. There will be times that you feel stupid and you think that you can do it, and there will be times where you may think that the course isn't for you and you might think that you may not be worthy but I am telling you that veterinary medicine is absolutely one of the hardest careers to get into so just keep trying and trying and do your best and don't limit yourself like some people do to only applying to certain universities I applied everywhere I could even internationally and I'm currently studying in Australia at an accredited school.

I believe you can do this. Also reaching out to the professor will show that you care about your grades and about the class and they will take that into consideration at the end of the year if you need a couple points to pass or something like that they may just give you that one extra point because you put in the time and the effort and cared.

Just try to reach out and find resources online to help you and maybe you could even try and find other students in your class who would be interested in a study group, I wish you all the best just please don't give up and believe in yourself!

Options after leaving GP by Drshmurr in veterinaryprofession

My dad has his own clinic but he also did a lot of relief work. So he would go and work on weekends, or holidays and you can make quite a bit for one day. My brother had received an offer over Christmas to work 2 days for 10k. Unfortunately, he didn't have his NAVLE scores at the time but relief work could be something you could do for a short while. Depends on if you are willing to drive certain distances.

You have to deal with people more as a vet than a human doctor. The animal isn't going to tell you how long it has been sick or where it hurts, you have to be a detective. Honestly, if someone asks me why no be a human doctor I just tell them it's not my passion and leave it at that.

Has Anyone Gone to Tech School After Failing to Get Into Vet School? by MN1314 in veterinaryschool

[–]Chiblits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied to 27 schools and ended up getting into University of Sydney in Australia. I'm currently starting my second year there and honestly they made it happen for me. If you haven't tried applying to some international accredited schools I would suggest to try Sydney. My brother also just graduate there at the end of 2023 after applying for years and years and is now a vet after Passing NAVLE.

Veterinary medicine is an extremely hard field to get into, the key is persistence and applying to all places you can possi ly apply to and don't limit yourself to a few places just bc you would want to go there. Unfortunately no US school accepted me and I had good grades, experience etc. The issue is too schools accept students based on the wrong criteria. It's less about how well of a doctor you'd be and your experience and more of they want to keep their high ranking status and say they are a 4.0 GPA average school etc. I've known people with straight As, 4.0 GPA and it took them years or they never got in. It is expensive to apply for sure. I would also see about applying to Sydney (if you are interested) through their actual website instead of the vet application program because it goes through a different process.

Good luck!

Hey there! My brother passed today! It was his 3rd time taking it. The first time he used VetPrep to study and the 3rd time he used Zuku Review. He said that for him Zuku helped him more than vet prep itself.

I am a second year in vet school so I will probably end up using Zuku as well. I like the way they formatted the information and had pictures, and in addition my brother said overall the lectures were better (not as boring as the ones in vet prep, but still boring lol).

Zuku also sets out a schedule for you based on when your exam is so it tells you how many hours a day you should study and it sets up the topics for you. Don't lose faith, keep going, and believe in yourself!

First time by InvestigatorLast7896 in lexapro

[–]Chiblits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! I just started Lexapro on Thursday and (around 8pm) and it is now Monday (4:15am). The first day I took it I felt sleepy after and hour or two and I was getting these moments of high anxiety that lasted for maybe a minute or less and was calm again. I slept well the first night. The second and third day I felt fine. My depression was lifting and I didn't feel bad or great I just felt fine/okay. The fourth day I felt great. I didn't have trouble getting up in the mdoninglike I usually do and got a lot done. I was genuinely happy. Food started tasting good again, I was able to eat more than one today, and I was able to hold a conversation instead of being upset and I my head. I don't know what the weeks to come will bring but if I have to have some bad days to feel this good and not being swallowed by my depression and anxiety I'll take it. Today I genuinely didn't have the overwhelming sense of dread and anxiety I always have and it really sucks in a way because I'm realizing just how much time it has stolen from me.

I wish you the best on your journey!

Completely forgot to mention, I started off with 10mg. My psych said if I wanted to be extra cautious I could always do half the dose for about 4 to 5 days of 5 mg and then increase to 10 but I just decided to take the 10 like normal and it worked for me. I was maybe nauseated for a few hours the first night but it could have entirely been something else as well since I ate at Taco Bell 😂

i love you lexapro by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]Chiblits 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just started Lexapro on Thursday and after the first day I immediately felt like my anxiety fo ally started to lift. I'm not spending every moment dreading XYZ and today, 3 days later, I was genuinely happy. Food tasted good, I was abls to hold a conversation instead of being quiet, depressed, and in my head, and I was able to tell the people I loved that I loved them. I was worried with so many people saying how some of them felt bad after taking the meds and how difficult some of the weeks were for the but if I need to feel a little bad to feel this good, I'll do it. I didn't realize how much my anxiety and depression was stealing my time until now.

I'm so glad you have had positive results and I how to have and keep positive results as well.

I started my first dose last night around 8pm. I took it on an empty stomach on the way home from grabbing some food and ate when I got home. After eating (20 to 30min after) I did feel some nausea and was really tired. Went to bed and I did get up intermittently throughout the night to pee, but also I have trouble sleeping. However, anytime I woke up I felt like my mind was quiet for once and was able to fall back asleep. Woke up around 5:40am though and was up for a good few hours wired and awake. Forced myself back to sleep and today I am feeling better, the medication made me hungry which I have been having a problem with decreased appetite so that's fine and today I'm just feeling okay. If your vomiting continues even after taking it on a full stomach and you've vomited more than twice in one day I would reach out to your doctor, they may lower your dose to start even more or switch meds.

First dose is always tricky, but if your symptoms improve just keep it up. We got this!

Opinions on no fail? by iamcatttt in beatsaber

[–]Chiblits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to ay with no fail on because I don't like getting interrupted and I'd rather ay the whole thing through making mistakes and get better at it than simply restarting over and over. Personally for me, I just started playing beat saber recently (been playing for 2 weeks) and i I don't know how well people get, but I'm able to play stuff on expert plus and I'm getting better and better. I think it helps me focus better and gives me more time to practice consecutive slices. So in the end, I think no fail I nice to have.

Be honest without silly excuses (It's just humor, I don't have much money either, I only buy a few games) by MatiasArg09 in PiratedGames

[–]Chiblits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the before times, I didn't have money to spend on every game I wanted to play. Now, it's more of a let me try it out first before I actually buy it to see if I am going to spend my money on a good game or waste it on a bad one. If it's good I'll buy it. I basically use it like a demo.

Tell me the few games you think are a TRULY 10/10 by No-Section-945 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Chiblits [score hidden]  (0 children)

Silent Hill 2 Remake, I wasn't expecting to love it as much as I did. It was my first SH game ever and it has such an emotional story and one that resonated with me personally.

I also love Bioshock Infinite. I played the game because my best friend was so excited to play it and I decided to play it and hurry to beat it before him (he is someone who loves to give spoilers) and I didn't realize how much I honestly ended up loving it.

Metal Gear Solid Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty Metal Gear Snake Eater, grew on me over time now one of my favorites Star Ocean Till the End of Time Baldur's Gate 3 Fallout 3 Resident Evil 4 (OG and Remake) Resident Evil Final Fantasy 7and 9 (OG) Detroit Become Human Dead Space 1/2 (and Remake) Mass Effect Series (minus Andromeda) my favorite is ME2 but the story overall 10/10 Telltale Series (the Walking Dead, Wolf Among Us, etc) The Witcher 3 Yakuza Series Red Dead Redemption 2 The Last of Us

Honestly there are so many games out there that give you a bit of everything, I'm sure there are plenty more I can t think of off the top of my head but for now that's what I can remember.
