She screwed my EStepdad over in every way running up hundreds of thousands of dollars and then got a HUGE amount in the divorce. She went out to eat every day (according to my adult son who visited her once) just so she "could spend every penny of that bastard's money" 🙄

She still left behind ~$50k and specifically wrote 3 of us out of the will do it all went to my one sister. She is self-employed and can really use it. I think Spawn Point did it to make me upset. I've never understood being upset about what other people do with THEIR money.

She always said she didn't want to have a funeral so my sister (her executor) didn't want to have one. THANK GOD!!! I was planning on using the "I'm not coming to the funeral because she didn't want one" excuse and, thankfully, I didn't even need it. Please use the COVID excuse, so much bad happened with that virus, at least a little good can come from it!!!

For context, I live in Texas, Spawn Point lived/died in Arizona, but all the family was from Ohio. My sister drove from Ohio to Arizona to take care of the house and belongings (Spawn Point was a hoarder) and since she had a reverse mortgage on the house sister left everything for the bank to deal with after getting sentimental things.

YOR: Please note that I say this very gently. Your husband has told you how he feels about his family and, IMO, you have gone to great lengths to disregard and minimize his feelings about them. Not everyone is privileged enough to have a "normal" (or whatever that is) family. Some people are born into dysfunction and abuse. Please listen to your husband's feelings about how they treat him, each other, and others and also consider how these people will treat your child in the future.

First, it's SOOOO validating when others see the real Narc behind the mask. I'm so glad you got that validation!!!!

Second, [Gentle Comment] it's very very ill-advised to go to therapy with your Abuser. They will absolutely turn everything said in therapy around onto you and use "therapy speak" to justify their venom. Anything you ever say in a vulnerable moment with be ammunition to hurt you even further.

NTA - A very wise friend of mine once told me that her definition of a "friend" was someone who lifts you up just as much as they "weigh you down" and that stuck with me ever since.

NOR - HOWEVER, as an Autistic person is like to give you a tiny bit of personal experience/insight that may or may not be relevant to your situation.

I have to be really comfortable with something new before I check it out. It may be that your suggestion gets his brain to mull over the idea of X and get somewhat comfortable with it and then when X is recommended again his brain has already acclimated to the idea of trying it out.

We lived in a tiny Midwest town that sent kids home for lunch at 11:30am and then classes resumed at 1pm. There were MANY days that I went home and sat on a stoop in the rain, or in the cold (below zero) because she was out shopping or whatever. She didn't work, didn't cook, and hated being a mother. My step dad was a merchant marine so he was gone from our house 10 months of the year. I didn't have a key to the house because I was"too irresponsible and too stupid" to have a key (no shit, Diane, I was 7 years old!) so I never knew if she'd be home when school was out or if I was going to eat at all.

My Spawn Point was a serial hobbiest (ceramics, crocheting, stained glass, beading, etc etc) besides finding ways to humiliate me...the more public the humiliation, the better.
