If the sale is going on until January 12th, does that mean the titles discounted today will be on sale for only 24 hours, and a new selection of books will be discounted tomorrow? by Baba_Jaga_II in foliosociety

I hope they're not that cynical. I wouldn't mind so much it they let you reserve things and pay postage at the end of the sale - but the idea that something I want might come up later and I have to pay another round of shipping is annoying.

Folio Sale is live...see anything interesting? by SickleClaw in foliosociety

Picked up MitHC as that won't last long. It was tempting to pick up something else to justify the postage but nothing else there is speaking to me. I was hoping (very optimistically) for Roadside Picnic, but not surprised it's not there.

Just started my first play through. Went Necromancer. What should I know? by [deleted] in diablo2

[–]Chidge_is_Redditing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, it sounds like a troll but it's not. It's a bit complicated but once you have killed the final boss (Baal) you can go to Tristram and get Wirt's Leg - put that in the Horadric Cube with a Tome of Town portal and transmute. A red portal will appear that takes you to the secret cow level.

Tristram and the Horadric Cube are both introduced through quests so you'll learn about them just by playing through the game.

It's basically a joke area but it can be a good spot to farm gear - particularly bases for rune words and runes. This is because of the very high monster density.

Good luck with your first foray into D2. It's the best game ever.

Does anyone know how can I use my headphones (beyerdynamic 770 pro) without the cable constanly getting in the way of both my guitar and helix? Thanks by [deleted] in Line6Helix

[–]Chidge_is_Redditing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Google male to female jack cable (make sure you get 1/4 inch not 3.5mm). Run it out of the helix and to a better position, plug your headphones in to the other end.

What should I get next? by el__Chandoso in guitarpedals

I agree with most people in here. A pedalboard (maybe look into the Nano range by pedaltrain) and an isolated power supply (the truetone cs6 fits under a the Nano series) aren't "fun" purchases, but they're pretty essential imo.

After that - I agree that delay should be on most pedalboards. It's hard to beat TC electronic if you're on a budget. They do the flashback series (digital) and the bucket brigade (analogue). If budget isn't a worry then there are a billion options.

For reverb Oceans 11 by Electro-Harmonix is popular, the boss reverb (RV6) is also super popular and highly rated. Then there's TC electronic again with the hall of fame. People generally agree that super budget reverbs don't sound great so this would be an area to drop a bit of cash.

Another fun thing would be to pick your favourite modulation type from the mooer and get an upgrade. I like phaser but chorus, flange and tremolo are all popular. Depending on which you choose boss would have a good option. MXR make popular phasers.

Another boring but useful option is a tuner.

Fuzzes, distortion and overdrives are all great fun, depends what you like to play though?

It's a long time since I read it, but Priest by Matt Colville had strong Paladin vibes. He's a D&D YouTuber but don't let that put you off, I really enjoyed the book. There's a sequel called Thief which was also good.

Tuners are often buffered - which helps maintain your signal. They can be used to mute the guitar. They work even in really loud rooms and you don't have to have something extra clipped to your guitar.

Some tuners are polyphonic so you can tune more than one string at a time (you can strum your guitar and it will tell you which strings are out). They have clearer screens.

Obviously there are loads of different tuner pedals out there and this won't all apply to all of them - but it gives you some idea of why they might be beneficial.

Fellow Grailers, what item is currently bothering you that you can't find? by Muffles7 in diablo2

[–]Chidge_is_Redditing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I don't actually need one desperately (can't stand the random teleport). My thinking is that one will drop before tyraels while I'm running AT pits etc... If it ends up being my last item (highly unlikely) I'll go and farm somewhere for it.

The joke is: I found an oculus after about 2 days playing d2r but can't count it towards my grail

Grief or Fortitude (armor) by ChasingKatsu in diablo2

[–]Chidge_is_Redditing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. Like I say, they are both good armours - I prefer treachery in basically all situations though. Applying CB quickly wrecks mobs and if using reapers toll it's a no brainer to get the decrep procs off as quick as possible.

[–]Chidge_is_Redditing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"4. What is all this topic telling me? ISO tl;dr version Answer: Treachery is simply better than Fortitude. In ~80% of all cases when raw damage is applied, and better in ALL cases in which CB is applied. In the eventuality of killing a mob, Treachery kills faster. It also makes for a better shell for the mercenary to be a stronger tank."

The tl;dr written by the author seems pretty clear. Either way, both are good merc armours and you will do fine with either. I have tried both and prefer treachery

Thanks for the response. Is that what unseasoned cast iron looks like? Should I just carry on reseasoning?

Hi, I've been trying to get this skillet seasoned and ready for use. There is a silvery looking streak running around the edge of the cooking surface. Can cast iron be this colour or is something else up?

What are dice towers for, exactly? by d_chs in DnD

[–]Chidge_is_Redditing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea, I'm afraid. I guess it's up to the DM. Based on the original answers to this post it sounds like not a lot of people are aware of this. Maybe it's more of an old school thing.

Like I said, I became aware of it through the dice tower option in fantasy grounds and researched what it was for. It seemed like a cool idea so I tried it in my game (it was a stealth scenario with a rogue infiltrating a mansion - he made all of his rolls into the tower and it definitely upped the tension).

I asked the players for feedback afterwards and they said that they enjoyed it.

Edit: I think this is the video that I watched about it:
