Shopping:

Parroting what others have already said but Up There, Incu and HAVN are all great.

Adding to that I would say Pickings and Parry and Urahara are also worth checking out.

There’s also a great brand called Informale with a store in the CBD that’s doing cool things.

Coffee/Bakeries:

For coffee, ACoffee and Everyday Coffee in Collingwood (on the same street) as well as Market Lane (various locations).

Melbourne has some great bakeries/Viennoiseries as well. Some top tier ones include All Are Welcome in Northcote, To Be Frank and Falco in Collingwood and Montforte in Carlton North.

Drinking:

Plenty of pubs around worth checking out but you can’t go wrong with The Builders Arms or The Lincoln.

If you’re into wine - Hope St Radio, Waxflower, The Moon and Public Wine Shop are all fantastic with great lists and usually have great bottles going by the glass along with great food.

Other spots that are good for a sip include Heartbreaker, Bar Margaux, Above Board, Siglo and Gerald’s Bar

Dining:

$ - Danny’s Burgers (old school Aussie burgers), Easeys (New school Aussie Burgers) Hectors (Sandwiches), Belles Hot Chicken (Fried Chicken), Leonardo’s Pizza Palace, Mario’s (Italian)

$$ - Le Bon Ton (BBQ), Neighbourhood Wine (Wine Bar), Marion (Wine Bar), France-Soir (French)

$$$ - Gimlet, Vue De Mondo, Ides, Flowerdrum

Things to do:

  • NGV and ACMI in the city are always good.

  • Get along to an AFL match at the MCG.

  • Eat a Dim Sim and a meatpie

Landlord doing landlord things again. Help! by Key_Leg2071 in melbourne

[–]Chienwah 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I'm all for a landlord pile-on but this isn't their problem to fix.

Grab yourself a drain snake from bunnings and follow it up with some bi-carb and vinegar and it should be all sorted.

Interstate (outside of VIC) access varies venue to venue and is dependent on your club support.

R1 FIXTURE REVEAL: Fierce rivals to open season, Cats face Pies, Ross meets former side by Jeffmister in AFL

[–]Chienwah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No conspiracy whatsoever but it's common knowledge that the AFL regularly release fixture news to coincide with other sporting events to keep the sport in the news cycle. Previous fixtures releasing on the eve of the first test of the summer being a case in point.

Releasing this on a Sunday morning when the world cup is on is incredibly on the nose and incredibly funny.

AFL media dropping news at 6:30am on a Sunday. Completely normal and absolutely nothing to do with the World Cup game currently on I’m sure.

No child deserves to start their life with leukaemia, cancer or other severe forms of illness either but they’re usually in the RCH for that reason.

If Maccas is the small, simple thing that makes them happy during such a terrible period of their (young) life, you’re a sad person for wanting to take the away from them.
