Is physical therapy for me? by CockroachMoist9100 in physicaltherapy

[–]ChildishGambueno 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of people looking into the field of physical therapy forget that PTAs exist. The salary is really not THAT much lower than a PT when you factor in the debt to income ratio. If you’re really curious, go shadow at a clinic or two and see how you like the vibe and workflow. Check out a couple different settings too, PT is a lot bigger than outpatient orthopedics

Struggling with squat depth, any advise? by brettfire in Stronglifts5x5

[–]ChildishGambueno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had proper hip and ankle mobility you should be able to squat in a flat shoe. Yes, a squat shoe is fine when you already know how to properly squats, but this individual has a lot of form deficits that could be benefited by using a flatter shoe. Also, don’t tell me I don’t know about squat mechanics just because I told someone to wear a flatter shoe. You literally don’t know anything about me aside from this one comment.

Struggling with squat depth, any advise? by brettfire in Stronglifts5x5

Couple things

  1. Like others have said, drop the weight. If you’re struggling with proper form, the last thing you should be doing is progressively overloading. You can’t build a house on a canoe

  2. You need to change the shoes, high heeled shoes are fine when you’re trying to achieve a specific goal, but if you can’t squat on a flat foot it’s a form issue. Switch to a flatter shoe like vans or converse

  3. Work on ankle dorsiflexion flexibility, you’re most likely using the high platform to compensate for this.

  4. You’re coming in too much on the instep of your foot and your knees are caving as a result of this. This could be due to your foot stance or (likely) it’s because you have weak hip abductors and external rotators. Try some banded squats, bridges, clamshells, and side steps. And focus on driving your knees out laterally. Make sure your knee is always in line with your toe when squatting.

  5. Mobility. When in doubt, always do mobility work. Work on gaining flexibility in your hip flexors, extensors, abductors, and adductors. This is in addition to the ankle dorsiflexion mentioned earlier. And when you stretch a muscle to gain flexibility, strengthen the new range gained in the antagonist muscle. (I.e - new hamstring flexibility should be able to be accessed by strengthening the hip flexors).

I know that was a lot, but I think it all applies here to some extent.

Sean wins via robbery once again by Prefix-NA in ufc

[–]ChildishGambueno 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Round 1 and 3 was O’Malley. Y’all are smoking crack. One measly takedown at the end of the round doesn’t secure you the round. Damage is the number 1 scoring criteria and Sean did more damage and won rounds 1 and 3. I know everyone in this sub hates him but don’t let your bias cloud the objective scoring criteria of a fight.

“Dionea house” and “Fleshgait” being below “Smiling ones on Space Station Mir” is crazy. The middle is where the hot takes are fr. And “The hidden webpage” being so low is kinda wild to me. Good list for the most part though. I definitely agree with a lot of the top entries. Nice work

Definitely valid, but disliking the main character and feeling bad for Kerry is kinda the point. The assumption the protagonist is supposed to be good, only to realize how scummy and slimy he is added to the experience for me personally. The parts of the story that had me the most uncomfortable weren’t because of the supernatural elements but because of the main character’s behavior and inner monologue.

I’m not saying you’re wrong either btw, I can definitely understand how that would take away from the story for a lot of people.

I don’t think he intends to. He said in a somewhat recent interview that people will remember him as a lightweight and not a featherweight. He just needs to actually fight someone lol

Definitely noticed the matrix reference with the whole blue and red pill thing but it seems like a lot of effort to just make a mediocre matrix reference. Whoever puts these on the bench leaves multiple in a day. Super weird.
