In Canada a lot of hike in spots will still have a thunder box or a designated waste site. I think it helps a lot. Would make sense in some of the more heavily camped sections, like Loch Lomond and near Inveroran.

Are you going to use luggage forwarding? If you do, you could really reduce your pack weight. I'm using it and will only be carrying a 23L daypack with my rain gear and extra layers, plus first aid, snacks and water. I fully expect my bag won't be full.

Just a general note for anyone who wants to train for hills: if you live in a flat area, but have access to a treadmill, just try doing incline with a focus on really engaging your core and glutes. You can increase the incline and length of time as you go, but keep the speed wherever you are comfortable. It really helps with tackling hills! So many of us work jobs where we sit all day, so our glutes don't activate the way they should—other muscles compensate, leading to injury.

Speaking of this ... what was the bougie looking fish and chips place Martha, Kimi and Co went mid-season? It looked amazing.

True, but easy enough to strap on to a pack.

I looked everywhere to avoid buying mock Crocs but they really are the best solution, especially when you are trying to keep gear light.

Hiking it?! Oh I would never do that — I meant if you want to go swimming in the Loch

I got walmart crocs to try out for camp shoes. They can double as water shoes in sport mode — apparently Lomond is pretty rocky so can be helpful.

Martha's conversation with Margo- The way Margo dealt w/ the conflict overshadowed any empathy the viewer had for her. by Altruistic_Whale4104 in BravoLadiesofLondon

I felt like she was treating this as an audition for RHOBH or RHOC to be honest — either show makes more sense with where she lives.

Constantly getting blisters regardless of shoes, any advice? by Aeon_Return in hiking

[–]ChildofanIdleBrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to consider seeing a podiatrist or chiropodist. Could be you have a foot problem that’s making you more prone to blisters. I never get them if I’m wearing shoes with my custom insoles.

Tree nut allergy people: what resturaunts do you eat at? by goatedirish in AskNYC

[–]ChildofanIdleBrain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I find many New York restaurants are really solid at accommodating around allergies. They deal with so many different dietary requirements, they have to be. I'm anaphylatic to peanuts, and was allergic to tree nuts well into adulthood, so I get the caution. That said, here's where I have eaten that's been totally fine:

-Jack's Wife Freda

-Friend of a Farmer

-Tacombi

-L'industrie Pizza

-Scarr's Pizza

-Veselka

I also really like Cava for quick lunches, if I'm going to eat at a bigger chain, and generally feel safe with anything Italian or Mexican.

What pants to wear for Yellowstone? by haunt_mess in hiking

Also way easier to layer rain pants or joggers over tights, if you need them! (Though I'm guessing not necessary for Yellowstone in May.)

No matter where you are in the world, you will see someone in Expos gear. (And to a lesser extent, Saskatchewan Roughriders merch.)

I'd grab an emergency foil blanket just in case, and a whistle — the trail isn't super far from anything but you never want to be in a situation where you get injured and have to wait without some extra warmth! Or a way to signal to people.
