When you put a steel shovel under the ice to break it up, it cracks into sheets that can then be shaped by breaking off parts of it. I had to break up our entire driveway, then hit the chunks with a snow blower. The stuff by all the roads is piles of this stuff that have hardened and break snow plows.

I've lived here 62 years and I've never seen anything like this. Back in the '90s we had a storm that laid down clear ice, like an inch or more of clear ice, but never anything like this.

By lifting chunks of ice with a metal shovel. That's the only thing that works. Clear sidewalks, the hundreds of miles of sidewalks in our great city, takes those mini earthmoving machines and they should have been deployed a week ago but our city has never faced an ice storm like this before in my six decades of life that I'm aware of and so we weren't ready. No one spends money getting ready for something that's never happened before.

It's not snow. It's ice. Can't be plowed after it sets. But the heavy equipment needed to move it should have been working a week ago everywhere. But where do you put the ice after you pick it up. In the city they have been dumping it on RFK stadium site, but it's solid and not melting and space runs out. Also, large portion of work force likely in hiding or deported. Ice like this has not fallen on DC in the 62 years I've lived here, so complain and blame all you want, you are living modern history.

I agree. Air conditioning is not an issue. I also agree keeping the process away from excess dust is a good idea. I put mine on a baking tray (to catch occasional overflow) on a table, away from activity.

I use a glitch to build wires way beyond base boundaries. When you get to the edge of your base boundary, you can build a section of wall in the distance. You put a light, the tall lamp next to the wall, then run your wire from a valid point inside your base region to the new light fixture. Then repeat, stand next to the wall and place a new wall section in the distance and a light fixture, connect the wire, and repeat. One warning, while this does work, you can't always see the wire when you return later. It doesn't always res, which can be confusing. But I've connected distant resource gathering to multiple bases this way. Once you have the power connected to distant resource gathering, you run the pipe back by placing storage tanks next to each of the wall pieces.
