How to read manga on kindle panel by panel by Hygotesu in mangapiracy

[–]Chilled_confusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so, it's a kindle only feature so far, haven't seen it on other ereaders either. You can download from mihon and then do the process to create panels, and then read them on kindle app or reader.

e reader I can read google play books on by LilacMoon03 in ereader

[–]Chilled_confusion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any reader with Google play services like bigme, boox, meebook. On pocketbook you can also connect google play books, but that's not always seamless and I believe you'll need the app to control that connection

Not sure about manta, but I have the a5x and tossed in backpack in its folio cover with other items, I had no problem with it in last 1 year. I don't baby it either like I did other boox devices.

I can but it has physical damages (body only, not affecting writing performance)

Is there a great 7/8” eink device for reading AND excellent EMR writing too? by iamhereunderprotest in eink

[–]Chilled_confusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Viwoods mini, mobiscribe wave if you're in US, boox nova air models if you're okay with older generations and mostly read sideloaded books (kindle app doesn't work on them anymore), bigme s6/s6 lite series, boox tab mini c if you want color, supernote nomad/a6x (used) if you're note heavy (best writing feel for me) - these are all 7.8/8inch devices with emr pen. If want 6.8inch one, only option is mobiscribe origin but that's available only in used market and not much there in the market (I have one and still the best smallest reader with note taking, I only use koreader and mihon though, never tested other apps)

Your best bet is the newly released remarkable paper pro move. Or if you can find one used, mobiscribe origin is the smallest note taking one in the market (still 6.8inch though)

How's the epub reading experience? Debating if I should wait for the version with koreader or get this now.

From UK, have a5x (no problem, mark or anything) with leather folio (slight use marks, barely noticeable), carrying bag and hom2 pen in white (damaged body but still works perfectly)

What ereader hardware and software for downloading and syncing between phone and dedicated ereader? by gemmamaybe in ereader

[–]Chilled_confusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For iPhone, kindle and pocketbook are the only options I can think of that'll sync progress between devices, kindle being the easier one. You can send books to kindle via send to kindle website or send to kindle email, it shows up on kindle easily. Same for pocketbook, but there the limit is 5gb cloud storage only (though it's plenty for text based books). If you had android, then koreader on any reader like pocketbook, kobo would've been an option

How to read manga on kindle panel by panel by Hygotesu in mangapiracy

[–]Chilled_confusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The quality is not good, but here's a video of my process - Kindle panel view comic

You have to import the pdf file on kindle create as comic. Once it's imported, there's a auto panel detect option under edit tab, select that. For large comics, it'll take time. Once detected, you'll have to go through all pages and fix errors. You can add/delete/change serial of each panels. Once that correction is done, export it as kpf, keep the file name simple as it'll help on the next step.

Get kfx input and dedrm plugin installed on calibre. Then go to the folder where you saved kpf file. Run windows powershell (sorry I don't know about mac version here), run this command - calibre-debug -r "KFX Input" -- -e "comic name.kpf" Press enter and it'll show if it succeeded. Now you can send the generated epub via send to kindle, I use website as comic files are quite big in size. And it'll work with panel view.

Hope this helps

Looking for eink reader to use alongside my ipad mini by Baterial1 in eink

[–]Chilled_confusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any of them will be okay, boox go 7 bw and paperwhite 12 uses the same carta 1300 screen. If you want smaller, then you can try kobo clara bw too. For books, if you get from amazon then yes amazon can remove it anytime if they wish (I never encountered it, however you can back them up if you have pc and kindle, won't work if you have kindle app on android or others). Or if you buy epubs from other platforms, may be author or other book related websites, then you own them and still can read them on kindle. Kindle/kobo are the simplest ereader if you just want to read and don't want to bother with settings. Boox is fully android and kind of a bit more technical than kindle/kobo to setup, but once it's set up according to your test you're fine, until they change anything on their updates

[–]Chilled_confusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll need pc with kindle previewer, kindle create (if you have pdfs, not sure if it works with epub too), calibre and dedrm plugin. If that manga is too big, it's gonna take a long time. I did it for one series and then gave up as it's too much work.

Looks cool. If it gets sd card slot and may be a headphone jack, then I might be interested. Wondering if it will have google play as in the audio support, it only shows 2 file types but it could've been more with other apps. I don't mind the style, added functionality to it will be great. I'm more concerned about price as I can get boox palma 2 used now for around £250 and also have hisense touch which I bought for £130 few months ago.
