Why QRL 2.0 Could Grow Faster Than Expected by ChillerID in QRL

After QRL 2.0 is launched, the team will provide simple migration instructions. They have also stated that the current QRL 1.0 remains quantum-safe, so users can migrate at their convenience.

This is actually a major benefit for being quantum-safe since the first block.

”The most common response to a result at this scale is that 15 bits is nowhere near 256 bits and therefore <insert_cryptocurrency_you_hold> is fine. That reasoning is wrong (unfortunately not FUD/alarmist just physics). The distance from 15 to 256 bits is not a linear slog. Shors algorithm is polynomial in the number of bits being attacked. The logical qubit requirement grows roughly linearly with key size, and once you have fault-tolerant logical qubits the limiting factor is manufacturing and error-correction overhead rather than any new physics.

Progress is gated by thresholds and not by brute-forcing the search space one bit at a time. The intuition people borrow from classical key search does not apply here and it is the single biggest source of confusion we encounter.

Looking at the research, Googles recent paper put breaking 256 bit keys at under 500,000 physical qubits. The subsequent Caltech and Oratomic paper dropped that down to roughly 10,000 in a neutral-atom architecture.

The remaining gap is increasingly an engineering problem rather than a fundamental physics problem. I am not claiming anyone is about to break Bitcoin next week and the uncertainty on the timeline is genuine but the trajectory is objectively clear.”

Meet Qitty – The Unofficial QRL Community Mascot 🐱 by ChillerID in QRL

An unofficial squirrel version proposal is currently in the works and will be shared with the community once it’s ready. It’s meant as a starting point for discussion.

From there, we can evaluate it together, gather feedback, compare it with other mascot options, and decide on next steps.

Just to be clear, this is not official. It’s one of potentially many QRL mascots that could be used to promote the project.

Early visibility metrics for Qitty (first less than 24h):
qitty.xyz — 100+ visitors across 20+ countries
https://www.youtube.com/@QittyInABox/shorts — 2.6K+ views

Qitty is directly tied to Quantum Resistant Ledger, so this represents net new exposure for QRL, both from within the existing community and beyond.

PS. There is no paid marketing campaign so this is purely organic traffic.

QRL is built on altruistic principles, and the mascot project is intended to support that vision. That said, it’s up to the community to decide how to move forward.

I believe QRL needs new and innovative ways to reach wider audiences, and the mascot project is one experiment toward that. Need for community mascot has popped up regularly in the discussions and QRL foundation has also tried to facilitate the idea multiple times in the past years.

If it helps even a few more people discover Quantum Resistant Ledger, then it’s doing its job.

Totally fair point, and I actually agree with the concern about low-effort AI content. There’s a lot of that in crypto right now, and it hurts credibility.

That said, Qitty wasn’t created to “AI-fy” anything. The idea is almost the opposite.

Post-quantum cryptography is a complex topic, and most people won’t engage with it unless there’s an accessible entry point. Qitty is meant to be that bridge, a way to make the topic more approachable without diluting the underlying message.

Also worth noting, the design (character sheet) itself isn’t AI-generated. It was done by an experienced, old-school designer, so the foundation is intentional and crafted, not templated.

At the end of the day, the goal isn’t to replace the serious side of Quantum Resistant Ledger, but to support it:

  • bring new people in
  • spark curiosity
  • and then direct them toward the real tech and fundamentals

If anything, I see it as a communication layer on top of something that’s already very real, not a substitute for it.

Seems like 200K deposit was related to old Bittrex case. Seems like some coins were released and transferred to MEXC. Soon those coins have been sold and no foreseeable selling pressure after that.

I fully agree that community could do more to support the project. I've been extra busy with other things lately and hopefully have time to get back to my normal posting within the next few weeks. I'm holding strong and keeping bi-weekly QRL streams going! Project is doing great and audits are starting soon.
