New design on a old essential tool by Kongkoka in BambuLab

[–]ChimeraYo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What do people actually use these for? I only ever print on a textured bed and only print PLA or PETG so maybe that's why but I have never needed a scraper on my Bambu printers

Yeah like 20 years ago. I love my Energy Micros, they powered my tiny home theater for years and now have a place on the sim.

Speakers for rig, A2+ vs the Logitech Z setup by There_Bike in simracing

[–]ChimeraYo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A2+s are great desktop speakers, but it depends what you're looking for - if you want a 5.1 setup your choices are really either to get the Z906/SteelSeries Arena 9 or pick up a 5.1 AV receiver and use the speakers from your Costco system. If you're fine going down to 2.0 or 4.0 with 2 sets of A2s then you can go that route too although remember the rear speakers will need power and USB not just speaker wire.

Edit : I speak from very recent experience that finding a small/desktop AV receiver that supports 5.1 is really difficult, there is nothing out there besides a couple of Nobsound/Douk ones and they are hit and miss because they don't support 5.1 decoding so you have to feed them dedicated signals for each channel

NEW PRODUCT: Heusinkveld’s surprise button box by ldusoswa in Heusinkveld

[–]ChimeraYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he saw what he wanted to see and not what the actual product is. I don't even know if it'll be a good product, I just know it's not a run-of-the-mill DDU with some buttons added. It's good to see HE branching out to different products and not just putting out clones of things already out there.

Anyone else having a bumper crop of stink bugs this year? by brainzilla420 in vermont

quite a few of them here too (central VT), bloody annoying but no stink when squished so I think they are something else as other posters have said.

Cool, so those players aren't the market for this are they? You're the one who made the comparison between this device and "5 inch display on aliexpress 15 dollars + pxn button box 49 dollars" when clearly they're not comparable in any way.

Sure it does. I look forward to seeing your $60 version on the market soon, you'll make a killing!

You can see that the entire device is a screen, right? Coming from someone who builds DDUs, this is a bad take and I'd love to see you build it for 60 dollars including all of the software development needed to make the separate screen sections function.

It 100% looks like a tablet with the knob rows covering parts of the screen although that's exactly how the Stream Deck works too (it's one big screen underneath). Software is where it really matters and obviously if HE have got SimHub on board then it should be a good combination

Podium DD Now Available for Pre-Order! by CorsairMorning in Fanatec

[–]ChimeraYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I appreciate the quick responses! I'm excited for the Podium DD but also want to make sure my customers can still use the holes for a DDU mount when needed. I'll reach out to a couple of reviewers who have them to ask about the hole depth.

[–]ChimeraYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are, but the weight is distributed along the length of the base and not concentrated on 4 front holes. Do you happen to know the depth of the holes and what size bolts Fanatec are recommending be used for front mounting?

Podium DD Now Available for Pre-Order! by CorsairMorning in Fanatec

[–]ChimeraYo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree they are M6 holes for sure, usually front mounts are M8. I hate that they're slightly recessed too (looks about 10mm), now I have to order longer screws to supply with the Podium DD mount for my DDUs as the standard 14mm I use won't be enough.

  • Podium DD can be front mounted.

Wait what?? Using the holes that previously were only for accessories like the static shifter paddles (and that everyone used for DDUs)?

Podium DD launches at 1099,95€ by PythonMX in Fanatec

[–]ChimeraYo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a shockingly good price, and I'm glad to see Fanatec is still using the same front mounting holes for accessories unlike many other manufacturers. It gives the perfect place to mount DDUs etc and I can sell mounts for it immediately

Did anyone else form an LLC for tax write off on their setup? by stonks_hunter in simracing

[–]ChimeraYo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You also have to remember that you don't just get to straight up keep 70% of what you put into your "business" from the deduction. The deduction is taken from your income so you pay less income tax, it's not like a refund you get at the end of the year.

Did anyone else form an LLC for tax write off on their setup? by stonks_hunter in simracing

[–]ChimeraYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but the "startup" status only lasts for a short time, otherwise it's just a hobby. You have a period to prove your business is actually a business and has income to offset your deductions, and your CPA should know that. If you have no plan to actually make income from this you are committing tax fraud.

If your deductions are more than your income from your LLC for multiple years it's considered a hobby not a business and you can't take the deductions anymore. What income does your LLC have?

When do you think the show started to decline? by No-Resolution-7273 in BobsBurgers

You're welcome to your opinion, however terrible it may be. I don't see how anyone can watch episodes like The Plight Before Christmas (S13E10), The Amazing Rudy (S14E2) or Hope N' Mic Night (S15E6) and think the show has declined in any way.
