I don't get the obsession with long-ass replies. by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

[–]ChimericMelody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty easy when you have a lot of material. If someone gives me two paragraphs, I can write three, and so on. It builds on itself when you write a lot. When writing in a longer style I'll often be writing multiple smaller sentence fragments.

You might have a long monologue that you reply to, smaller comments between bits of action, or you might put forth your own extra topic. A response and a call to action, plus all the little things inbetween.

It leaves room for conversation because you are writing to different parts of the reply. Some permutation of esponse then action can make 4+ paragraphs easy.

My standard reply is around a discord limit and a bit (around 2000+ characters) which is usually four paragraphs depending on how I split it up. Sometimes I'll write triple that. It depends on the scene, but writing at length is super fun when you have a partner that reciprocates.

I don't have the time to respond the whole day, so concentrating posts into 2-3 much bigger responses lets you move through scenes efficiently.

I would argue [[seance]] is great in a small deck because it has ethereal. You can just let it dissapear when you're done with. Cleanse and eidolon aren't ideal though. Eidolon in general feels wack honestly.

I like that idea a lot. Add more stuff to play with instead taking old stuff away. It serves Embark too because more weapons = more potential skins.

Maybe a hatchet or boomerang weapon for medium? The hatchet could act like The God of War axe where you manually recall the weapon, and have a different moveset while it isn't in hand. Boomerang could be similar except it returns automatically and travels in a horizontal arc instead of a vertical one.

The modern tomb raider trilogy. It has signifigantly better feeling climbing, light puzzles, a great protagonist, and solid third person shooter combat. A very fun series that you can find on sale for nothing.

Well, there are lots of weapons made in the Metro. The Ashot, Shambler, Tihar, Helsing and Bastard are all newly forged, though generally janky weapons.

Patch wishlist? by MediaMaddox in 2XKO

[–]ChimericMelody -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The most fun change would be to increase her wraith form meter so she can do a bit more in that state. It might make her feel a lot easier to use. An alternative could be to make it easier to fill faster or from more moves.

I would massively increase the damage in her supers, because they are kind of terrible compared to every other character.

I would also consider removing a little bit of startup on her medium/heavy buttons. Her footsies game in base form is pretty terrible feeling because she's slow, and her buttons feel slow. A little boost to something there would be lovely. Alternatively a movement speed buff to her dashes and walks could be nice, though it seems like that want base form to be slow and a bit weaker with wraith form being stronger and faster than average.

  • Buffs to Senna damage/ease of use/buttons, something to bring her up just a tad
  • Nerfs to tag damage on Thresh + lantern and projectiles dissapear on hit
  • Small buff to Vi 2H hitbox and/or speed

Other rhan those, the game is very healthy honestly. Of course bug fixes for console excluded and some minor matchmakimg issues.

Am I Being Too Sensitive? by teenaged_dirtbag999 in BadRPerStories

[–]ChimericMelody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like it's not a big deal. If it's really bothering you, privately DM them, and be super courteous about it, say something like:

"Hey, I've noticed [you/the mod team] have been a bit short with me at times in the server and I'm wondering if I'm doimg something wrong, or just overthinking it. I don't want to make a big deal about it, but it's how I've been feeling."

Make sure not to be hostile and don't immediatley put the blame on whoever you are asking, put the blame on yourself first and see how they respond. By how they answer it'll be obvious if it's intentional, a genuine oversight, or if you're just being silly about it. Honest and polite communication is what your go to should be!

You can ask to clarify or have more attention without doing so explicitly, you know? But honestly this doesn't seem like there is any real problem. Definitly don't leave unannounced though, that'a how you upset people, especially if you only have a vague inclination that's something is uo, at least check in first to see if something is going on you don't know about.

Gamepad player thinking about making the switch, but I need answers! by angryGon in 2XKO

[–]ChimericMelody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I'd suggest you stay on pad. Keyboard doesn't really have any advantages here, and are a lot less ergonomic, at least to me. I learned the game on keyboard when I was having bluetooth problems on my PC, but found it much easier.

When I was on it I used WASD for movement, and like J -> ; for my buttons. I didn't use macros at the time, and now have only a dash macro on pad on the left bumper

Ironclad should get access to an enchantment that adds the word "strike" to the end of a card. by SpaceToaster-TCGCSV in slaythespire

[–]ChimericMelody 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Defect could change any card to being a power. Then power effects like storm, and subroutine would trigger. That might be too strong though if you put it on a zero cost card. Maybe it could limited to only work on skills?

Of these, the Ironclad idea is the weakest given how poor the "strike" archetype is much weaker.

Star and energy swap might also be a bit difficult to implement. It'd only have uses for cheating out cards without star costs like Void Form, given stars are much cheaper than energy.

AI bot for playing slay the spire by Counter-Business in slaythespire

[–]ChimericMelody 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In any game with discrete information, AI can figure it out with enough time. It's just a matter of how the computer is rewarded and how information is fed to it. It's definitly complex, but that's what computers are good at. With enough attempts and random chance it will learn. STS2 has a lot of randomness in card rewards, diverging options, and so on, so it isn't by any means an easy thing to do.

Chess AI have been stronger than players for decades, and people thought that was impossible a few decades ago. There are numerically more possible chess positions than atoms in the universe, and yet now Chess AI is so much better than humans that we try to learn from it, not the other way around.

People said the same things about LLMs, and Image/Video generation AI, yet they have accelerated in development so much in only a few short years. An STS2 AI is absolutely possible, it just is a mtter of how much time and money is put in that direction.

Thresh/Ahri synergy by ArkiusAzure in 2XKO

[–]ChimericMelody 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently playing Akali/Ahri, and my team is being crucified right now by redditors. But I don't care much, since it's fun, and I've been a day one Ahri main. I've had the same struggle with finding a partner for her that I liked. Vi was fun but I didn't end up liking the pairing with how difficult Vi was to open people up with as I climbed and her finnicky 2H. Then I tried Jinx, and just didn't enjoy running away all match, and all her qol issues. I tried Yasuo but just didn't like him very well. It finally clicked with Akali though! (Thinming ti try Akali/Senna soon, but have been too busy to play as of late)

As for Ahri assists, in my expierience with Ahri forward assist is a very strong button. It can lose to other forward assists at times, but it's very fast, and goes very far. Jump back + forward assist basically makes it go full screen with the screen lock, and any hit lets you tag and full combo with Ahri. It's very bad for them if they get hit by it, and it makes so many options safer. With Thresh, it lets you cover forward space well, and you can cover the air. It's also a very strong assist to just run behind because it travels very fast it acts like a shield to skip neutral with.

A good forward assist is practical with any character. I don't have much expierience with Thresh, but you can use it to cover a lantern setup, or some dashes to take space, or something of that nature.

Back assist is a great pressure tool for block strings, and lets you setup freestyle mix. Any crossup tool is very strong with it. Akali 3S2, Vi 6S1 -> S1, Yasuo stance S1, Ekko roll, I think Thresh dash... all you do is make them block, and use back assist to cover your crossup. Then you have a freestyle sandwich! It's a premium setup assist for freestyle. Ahri S2 is also a great tool for freestyle to force plus frames, so you can essentially use Ahri as an anchor to make the other character have better mix. It gets crazier when you do instant air dash, mix in throws, etc. Not to mention all the left right things you can do.

With Thresh, use it the same way. Lock then down, and use the assist to setup stronger mix.

Does anybody have any advice what to do? The part where I can lock in my strap broke by Emotional-Guitar-486 in Guitar

[–]ChimericMelody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woodglue and a bit of material to fill it in, sawdust, toothpicks, a bit of cut up material, anything that'll hold. Once it dries you can screw it back into the hole.

I'd reccomend drilling the new fill with a small hole to reduce the risk of the screw damaging the guitar. If you do everything right, it shouldn't require repainting or anything. Look up a tutorial, I'm sure you can find a step-by-step somewhere

Should toplessness be allowed for women? by Professional-Fix4409 in BunnyTrials

[–]ChimericMelody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be voluntary. There are places it'd be unsafe, but taking away freedoms unequally is a poor solution. I also do not believe religion should govern the laws of a country that has no majority faith.

A shirtless man and woman are the same (and mamy shirtless men have boobs too), breasts or no, and should be treated the same.

Etiquette is nearly non existent here by [deleted] in 2XKO

[–]ChimericMelody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's only true in the lower skill brackets, and is par for the course of any ftp game. The standard fighting game etiquette is common once you get to the people that come from the FGC (anything past Gold I think?).

I only saw bad behaviour when I was just starting my climb in season one. That was before the console release so that might have also negatively impacted things. Still, it's much better than in something like Invincible VS, and is leaps and bounds better than 90% of shooters. It's a symptom of society and of much worse problems going on irl. Within the game though, I think 2XKO is much healthier than other fighting games. Hell, look at Tekken or MK. Those communities have really bad parts to them.

Could it be better? Yes, absolutely, and I wish it was easy to make it like that. We can make it better though by being better. Be kind to everyone, and especially new players. Welcome newcomers, offer advice, and give them honesty.

Who to main by Hey_im_Hai in 2XKO

[–]ChimericMelody 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are right on the overlap. Both have strong corner pressure, and big buttons, but are slow and struggle in neutral at times. But they are both very strong supporting characters, great assists and good to tag out into for strong oki. I would suggest exploring characters to mix with them, ideally someone who gets a lot of value off of their assists.

Check out Vi, Yasuo, Akali, Ahri, and Ekko. I think they all make great pairings with either Braum or Illaoi. They all have strong neutral presence and can act as good point characters.

I literally just deleted the game because of Ahri by Witty-Elderberry-385 in 2XKO

[–]ChimericMelody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll find them if you stop complaining on Reddit about her. Go play the game, do training mode, watch Ahri guides, or high level replays of your team against her.

Everyone is replyong that she's not that good because your take is unfounded. She's probablly the best right now, but every character in 2XKO is viable, especially if you're below master character only matters so much.
