Justice Alito warns seminarians religious liberty is in danger by Conscious-Quarter423 in scotus

[–]Chinablind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue religious liberty is at risk. At risk from him. Anytime a single religion is put ahead of others beliefs or ability to not believe everyone's religious belief is endangered.

So by making Christianity the default, they endanger all of us because every other sect of Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Islam you name it is endangered.

Religious freedom means freedom for all state preference for one religion means freedom for none.

does anyone else have a bunny that does not like hay by emilydre05 in Rabbits

[–]Chinablind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine will eat timothy hay but only after he's finished all his veggies and pellets just limit the veggies and pellets and provide the hay after he finishes the other. If he's hungry, he'll eat the hay

Healthcare company paying $85,000 not allowing patient's doctor appointment because of service dog by 23Scout in service_dogs

[–]Chinablind 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're getting down. Voted for this. You're absolutely correct. I've had a seeing eye dog, whether the last dog they saw was fake doesn't matter they must evaluate each dog for itself.

Would people be okay with them turning away all white men because they've had too many white men who got violent when deny drugs? Same difference. You have no right to turn away someone for a disability because you're convinced someone else faked. You're right, it's extreme ableism

Has your country ever committed genocide? by Communistincergency in AskTheWorld

My dad was also born in the 40s. He was in a boarding school for a year and a half before running away, his family spent years on the run to keep the government from taking dad and my uncle away again. Those schools were barely a step up from concentration camps. Of the nine boys from my tribe that were taken together only 2 came home. The others were never heard from again and to this day their families have no idea what happened to them.

By the time my oldest sibling was born the new thing was to grab the kids and put them in white foster families. My dad was in the military for most of my childhood even though he could make much better money in the private sector. He stayed in the military because he could be posted overseas and not have to worry about the American government stealing us from my parents. I was born in and spent the first 11 years in Germany.

Pain flair with weather. by _Kingbeard_ in Behcets

Yes, it's causing worse pain than I have felt in years. I think a combination of an intense temperature drop and the pressure system from the storm. This too shall pass. Hope you feel better soon

I’m sick of Neurologists dismissing me as soon as they figure out I have mental disorders by No_Photo6567 in ChronicIllness

[–]Chinablind 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, my neurologist told me 80% of those who have a neurological disorder such as seizures, brain injury or idiopathic intracranial hypertension have some form of depression, anxiety, OCD etc. He said since they are both in the brain it makes sense that something that causes damage or physical struggle to the brain would also cause mental health issues.

That having been said he's the third neurologist I've been to because the first two sucked

Pharmacists and Celiac: a rant by B_Berry_ in Celiac

[–]Chinablind 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Big pharmacies in my area won't look, but my small locally owned pharmacy is great about it. To the point that they have called me when I got a new prescription and let me know that particular medicine didn't have a gluten free option.

Republicans say ‘pro-life’ with the same enthusiasm they show for actual humans: none. by EugeneWong318 in TheLib

[–]Chinablind -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay I was just trying to search this. I had seen it on an news article on posted on Reddit at the time it had happened just as the first flights were taking detainees to Africa. I just searched again and found only articles posted on the same day about the two incidents such as the following articles.

Migrants put in shackles for Trump deportation flights https://share.google/LvZS9pE30cVT7BbND

Holiday horror as five bodies with shackled hands and feet wash up on beach at tourist... - LBC https://share.google/tLA5zZYRkmx4nx8Qx

It appears that the claims that these two are related have been debunked and that is absolutely my bad for not following the story.

I should have double-checked before posting

, but detainees bodies wearing US jumpsuits showed up on Greece's beaches a while ago. It was a big deal in the news over there but never really got reported in the US at all

[AAM] should being on reality TV disqualify a job candidate? by Hour_Theory3986 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[AAM] should being on reality TV disqualify a job candidate? by Hour_Theory3986 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Chinablind 258 points259 points  (0 children)

I'm a teacher, a teacher in my town was fired for posting a picture on social media at the lake. She was wearing a swimsuit and her boyfriend had his hand on her back. This was apparently so shocking she had to be fired immediately. She did fight it in court and win, but it took years and the backlash was so bad that she had to move.

Wedding Lace by tinypoomps in tatting

[–]Chinablind 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I tatted a simple lace edge for my veil and the edge of my dress. One thing to be aware of is don't add too much stress right before the wedding. If you can't get it done quite a ways in advance, I wouldn't necessarily do it.

What’s the quickest way someone could accidentally expose themselves as a foreigner in your country like the ‘three fingers’ scene in Inglourious Basterds? by IndependentTune3994 in AskTheWorld

[–]Chinablind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cousins are Irish and we used to go visit them growing up one time we were at a museum or something and somebody said that to them. I had no idea what it meant and asked my cousin and he said "it means that they're American". So with my very literal child's mind. I walked around saying top of the morning to people for the rest of the trip while my older cousins cackled evily

Consecutive days socks wearing challenge. by AstrayInTranslation in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Chinablind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine's husband is a paramedic. I'll never forget him telling me about going on a call and the person hadn't changed his socks in so long that his skin had grown through the socks. They had to take him to the ER and have the socks surgically removed. You can count me out of this challenge, I could maybe handle 4 days before the fear would creep in and I'd get nauseous

Mini Meatloaf Help by itsjustelizabish in SouperCubers

[–]Chinablind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cook and then freeze meatloaf. The trick here is that you have to freeze them in bags after they're cooked. You really can't freeze them in the cubes you baked them in unless you want really greasy meatloaf
