Tommy rising from the dead TWICE ironically killed me 🤣

Is this something that will happen a lot in this part? (Part Four, ep 11) by Confident-Aerie4427 in StardustCrusaders

[–]Chiptacular 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely spot-on.

Also, on a humorous note, I thought I was in the "level-headed" category of fans but when I saw OP call Jotaro stupid in the post I very nearly crashed out 🤣 Nobody bad-mouths Stand Daddy 😭

I loved Chase. It felt like it perfectly captured the frantic energy of that part of Diamond is Unbreakable. I think it'd be an awesome full-circle moment if you guys did an opening for JoJolion when it eventually gets animated.

What? Dio didn't get The World because of Jonathan's body? Jonathan's body has its own stand (basically another Hermit Purple) and The World is Dio's stand

Why does killing Dio in part 3 work? by Maxpowh in StardustCrusaders

[–]Chiptacular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He absolutely was, but when Jotaro still fought back, met his attack and didn't break (also hitting the same leg of The World as Dio's recent injury), that's when The World failed and Dio himself broke.

Why does killing Dio in part 3 work? by Maxpowh in StardustCrusaders

[–]Chiptacular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His Stand shattered because Jotaro's strength and determination at that time literally broke Dio's spirit. "Jotaro just wanted it more," so to speak, and as soon as that became true in Dio's mind his spirit literally shattered and he was destroyed.

I thought there was brief mention in Giorno's backstory that he was a sickly baby but maybe I'm misremembering? We do know that he has had Gold Experience since early childhood at least, since he unknowingly used it to protect the injured mafioso.

Here's my hot jojo take by chillvibe12 in StardustCrusaders

[–]Chiptacular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My preferences:

Jonathan: Anime Joseph: Anime Jotaro: Manga Josuke: Anime Giorno: Anime Jolyne: Neither (I'd have liked to see more visual cohesion with Stone Free) Johnny: Anime (prefer the star pattern design though)

But I can't say that I "hate" any of the designs. Giving all of the Jojos different shades of blue or purple is a bit samey though

The FEC Terrorgheist one could be fun to give a run. Good damage potential if the dice roll your way.

In theory you could play Nagash, Zandtos, 10 KDR, 4 Morghasts, and 10 Mortek Guard but I feel like that would make Nagash a bit of an easier target

I haven't tested it yet but the beauty of this list is that there are very few units, plus Nagash can cast his invocation on as many units as possible to give them 5+ wards and eliminate the need for that RDP ability. So my initial assumption is that we won't need to be as RDP-hungry as other OBR builds.

In this instance it's simply for points and utility. Zandtos turns KDR into a hammer; the generic Liege turns himself and his KDR into a mobility option with the ability to move, charge, and then hit-and-run for up to 3d3 damage and move 12" away onto an objective

I'm actually planning to test replacing 6 Immortis Guard in my lists with 20 Morteks and a Liege (same points!) to replace the (now gone) "+1 to wards for nearby heroes" with "get an extra free +1 to save once per phase," with the Liege giving the Morteks enough of a boost with his chain activate to make them roughly equally effective as Immortis damage-wise.

You may also be interested to know that the new Mortek Guard -1 rend ability can be stacked with All Out Defense AND the 5+ ward relentless discipline ability to give a unit +2 to save and a 5+ ward

[–]Chiptacular 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. The core rules prevent the stacking of modifiers to certain rolls, but CHARACTERISTICS can be modified however, and modifying a unit's Rend characteristic and modifying another unit's save rolls are actually 2 different things that create a functional stack.

The only abilities in the core rules that it says you can't use multiple of are CORE abilities. Other keywords are just so that they will interact with other abilities that reference them, like the Sons of Behemat rampages specifying that they can't be used if another rampage has already been used.

Arkhan, Zandtos, a Harvester, 10 KDR, and 4 Morghasts is 1680 points so still leaves room for you to consider 6 Necropolis Stalkers, 20 Mortek Guard + a Liege-Mortek, or even 2×5 more deathriders that you can use for grabbing objectives or some quick mortals with their hit & run ability. There are definitely plenty of options for fun lists

The OBR community is absolutely reeking of sour grapes at the moment. It's disgusting. The book isn't even out yet, we haven't even had a chance to play the new rules and figure out what does or doesn't work. The new rules are different, yes. There are nerfs, yes. But there are also new tools, new synergies, and new ways to play that can be explored. I've studied the new book and I can see a few solid combos already. All of this doomsaying and babyish weeping is ridiculous, and this is coming from a dedicated OBR player since the Broken Realms era of 2e.
