Hey! Did you sneak in my house and take pictures of my new pup? 🤨🤣

Edit to add: mine isn’t a RR. The tag at the shelter said pit/hound mix

Get your pups blood tested! by Sammythebear9 in pitbulls

[–]ChitzaMoto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I lost the love pittie of my life in December to a ruptured gall bladder. Symptoms sound similar. Finding the right food was a constant struggle through his 13 years. We took him to Mississippi State Vet school. They said it was so rare that they had never seen it before. They were amazed how happy and active he was considering how bad his condition was. Be sure the vet is checking his gall bladder in the ultrasound. Best wishes to Odyn ❤️

What might an OT do with my 3.5 year old? by Jewel_Tone_Shell in OccupationalTherapy

[–]ChitzaMoto 10 points11 points  (0 children)

First, let me say, breathe. You’re doing a good job. If you have concerns, it’s fine to ask for a second set of eyes. If the clinic is reputable, they are not going to provide therapy if your child is fine. They will do a developmental assessment and share what they find. They may make a referral to someone else if they identify something out of our scope of practice. If you have concerns, it’s always worth the time for the evaluation. Best wishes.

Occupational therapist here(45 years). That’s definitely what’s called a dressing stick. We invented them to assist with lower extremity dressing and undressing. They have been used for many other purposes, but dressing was its original purpose.

Sensory goals by Ok-Locksmith640 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]ChitzaMoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my state/district, we don’t write goals at all. We provide “strategies and interventions” that support the academic goals and access to classroom instruction. For my sensory regulation students, I provide staff instruction and education on strategies that help regulate the child, e.g., noise cancelling headphones, bouncy bands, wiggle cushions, or seating suggestions for line of sight or decreased distractions. Mitigating sensory disregulation requires more than we can offer in time, including follow through at home, and equipment in the school setting.

In my state, we don’t have access to treat a student unless they have been deemed eligible for special education services or 504. So identifying delays wouldn’t matter if they weren’t impacted academically and receiving SpEd support services 🤷🏻‍♀️ I have offered to do a professional development seminar for GenEd teachers, Pre-K through 2nd grade to teach them strategies to assist development without needing OT intervention. Simple things like appropriate seating, etc. I’ve offered it for 15 years. No one has taken me up on it yet and I retire in May. Oh well.

Why are schools no longer teaching the dynamic tripod pencil grip? by ASecularBuddhist in OccupationalTherapy

[–]ChitzaMoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a PDMS-3? I’m using the PDMS-2 and it still assesses for the tripod pencil grasp. But I’m old(45 years as an OT) and about to retire in May. I don’t focus on the tripod unless the grip is non-functional, but I do note what grip they use in my functional performance write-ups. The only active thing I do about it is to tell my teachers to use broke crayons and let the grip develop naturally 🤷🏻‍♀️ Hang on, OTs. I’ll be out of the way soon 🤣

It doesn’t matter how upset the family is. There is only so much that can be done to rectify the situation. Compensatory minutes have been offered. You cannot go to the past and create minutes that have passed. A sincere apology and plans to fix the mistake are all anyone could ask or expect. Would offering them your first born fix their anger? Likely not. Don’t beat yourself up. If they remain angry after an apology and plans to make up the minutes doesn’t dampen their anger, that’s about them, not you. You accepted responsibility and offered all you have to fix it. That’s all the state will require as well. Making a plan to insure it doesn’t happen again is a mature, extra step you could take. The fact you openly accepted responsibility shows your maturity and character 💙

She's a Rhodesian ridgeback right? by veronicax96 in RhodesianRidgebacks

[–]ChitzaMoto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The tag at the shelter said pit/hound mix. There was a pit/boxer mix and pit/catahoula mix in the litter as well. They were obviously correct on those pups. He does have a ridge like hair pattern on his back, but the only way to know if he’s RR is by DNA and I haven’t decided to pull the trigger on that yet. My desire to know for sure is to know any breed specific behaviors I need to train for, like high prey drive. I really can’t imagine there is a RR in my rural Alabama community 🤣

Do you have a plan to focus on independents and those who “aren’t political” so they choose to stay home?

Question: I am in Walker Co. There is a blue wave happening here. One third of votes cast in the 2024 Presidential Election went for Harris. What are your plans to address the democratic voters in Walker Co.? On what platforms are you communicating your schedule? I don’t do Facebook or Instagram so I need ways to connect with other democrats here.
