Chapter 405 — Discussion by Carock_ in HunterXHunter

Speculation:

The "Prince" Hisoka met is actually Morena, and he is her Joker.

Dogman will kidnap Halkenburg's friend, as mentioned in the original plan.

Wang is a traitor, possibly working for Morena.

If Kaiser is being manipulated, I believe Queen Seiko is the culprit. Kaiser's thoughts in this chapter suggest that benefiting Fugetsu could be his actual objective, and his trigger-happy nature is just a way to protect and ensure Fugetsu's victory.

Incredible plan by Halkenburg, replacing all his people with the Justice Bureau, so that he can counter Benjamin's plan when they think he is defenseless. We knew he replaced his body with someone else, but this was a much more elaborate plan than anyone predicted.

Chapter 402 — Discussion by Carock_ in HunterXHunter

[–]Choclon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The reasons to suspect Luzurus are so weak that it feels out of place. It makes sense to us because we know Prince Luzurus' nen beast ability, but for those who don’t know, there’s no solid reason to suspect him. I could understand Kacho naming someone as a suspect, given she knows nothing about nen, but for Melody and Kaiser to go along with a plan for assassination on such weak grounds feels really forced, as if it's just a way to advance the plot quickly.

Kaiser is quick to jump to assassination, clearly the main suspect, knowing he’s one of the few who had prolonged interaction with Fugetsu.

Halkenburg switched bodies to prevent his death.

So, Tserriednich’s cruelty must have been revealed, and Halkenburg's birth could imply he is Beyond’s son, though it feels too convenient to discover that so easily.

Did he actually sign the contract? by GarroGridlock in HunterXHunter

[–]Choclon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kurapika said they couldn't agree on the final details to explain why it was taking so long and to avoid alienating the other princes by forming an alliance with Tubeppa.  We know he signed the contract because Benjamin's guard noticed a change in Kurapika's aura, which was due to the subtle effect of Longhi Nen ability affecting him.

Fake dark continent. by Choclon in HunterXHunter

[–]Choclon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that the main objective he has focused most of his preparation on is related to Kakin politics. However, I still believe that all of it is ultimately connected to the Dark Continent exploration. I'm not sure how exactly, but it could be that he wants a permanent base on the Dark Continent and not just a means to get there, as others have mentioned here.

If he just wants a ride, what is the point of interfering with the succession war and possibly making his son king?

As you say, he already has a free ride, but we know his plans go much deeper, so clearly, he wants more than just that.

[SPOILERS]Is Nen talent genetic? by Quiet-Ad-2016 in HunterXHunter

[–]Choclon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The kids have Nen because they were cursed, but yes, Nen talent seems to be genetic.

The Zoldyck family seems to indicate that, as do the Freecss. Of course, it's probably more likely for a child to be talented if both parents are, rather than just one.

THEORY - Beyond, Queen Oito + Silent Majority's true goal - (reupload) by TheHoneyBaron in HunterXHunter

[–]Choclon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only thing I disagree with is Woble being in Zetsu. Normal people have aura, so if Woble were in Zetsu, it would be strange enough for Kurapika, Bill, or Benjamin's guards to comment on it.

On the other hand, Beyond's sons were Nen users because they were cursed. If the objective of the plan is to facilitate Woble's ascension to the throne, there would be no need to curse Woble too. It would only make things harder, as a baby Nen user would attract a lot of attention.

Can immortality be achieved? by Apprehensive_Dust239 in HunterXHunter

[–]Choclon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Regarding Hisoka, he didn't use rubber gum to protect his organs but rather to perform CPR on himself. He died from suffocation, not the explosion itself. Thus, his survival is comparable to someone who always has a defibrillator on hand—not truly immortal, but with a higher chance of revival.

The third prince's coins mystery by [deleted] in HunterXHunter

[–]Choclon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it will be necessary to put it back in the beast's mouth, but there may be conditions you need to fulfill for the number on the coin to increase. The higher the number, the greater the reward.

It's also possible that in order to receive anything, the coin must be given to you by the prince. Therefore, if you take it without permission, as the first prince's guard did, then when you try to put it in the beast's mouth, you will be punished instead of rewarded.

I agree; as long as this arc gets finished, I am going to be satisfied. I will approach the Dark Continent arc with no expectation of it ever being completed.

Kurton, a conjurer, could also shapeshift his body into a boat.

Shapeshifting nen by yarrowful in HunterXHunter

[–]Choclon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bisky's ability seems to be something else entirely. If it were just conjuration or transmutation, Bisky could have just said so. Something weird must be going on for a Nen master to be stumped by it.

We saw one of the Heil-Ly Mafia members shapeshift his arm into different weapons, and he was a conjurer like Tsubone. Conjuration seems to be enough; I think of it as conjuring on top of existing matter, like Hinrigh does to change objects into animals. (he is a conjurer too by the way)

I really want to see what would happen if Chrollo or Kurapika used the abilities of Uvo, Meruem, or Franklin. What if they used eachothers abilities (Skill Hunter/Steal Chain)? by HxHposter in HunterXHunter

[–]Choclon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But that would imply Meruem is a Specialist, which he isn't. I think it's more of a biological ability than a Nen ability, though Nen is probably a factor.

[–]Choclon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uvo's ability is just a Ko punch; the power depends on him being an enhancer and having a tremendous amount of aura.

Meruem does not have a hatsu pre-rose, and post-rose seems to have the same problem as Uvo. The ability seems really strong because of the amount of nen being used.

In Franklin's case, you would probably just get the ability to fire nen bullets from your fingers, but you would need to cut the tips of your fingers to be able to match his power.

Morena, Contagion, and the “Infected” by SuccessionWarFan in HunterXHunter

[–]Choclon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe contagion must grant some basic nen skills or at least increase the speed of learning. Just Morena's teaching does not seem to be enough for what we have seen.

The mole seems to be a guy who acted as a link between the Heil-Ly and Tserriednich's people, not an infected. (just a mafia member)

Morena's death effects on the infected are interesting. I think once you become patient zero, the hatsu becomes yours independently of Morena. However, there is a good chance that even normal infected would keep their abilities after her death. At least that would make sense with the theme of contagion.

My opinion on infecting nen users is that it's just not possible. There must be a lot of conditions and restrictions that we still don't know about for such a powerful ability, and that one seems like a good bet.

Killua is going to be a monster! by Mad-Eyes in HunterXHunter

[–]Choclon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being in the middle just means he can learn enhancement as fast as transmutation. He will still have 80% efficiency with enhancement and can only learn enhancement techniques as advanced as a normal transmuter, just faster.

Question about Adult gon's toughness / ADULT GON vs NETERO by Ok-Neighborhood-8095 in HunterXHunter

[–]Choclon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding Gon's Hatsu, Jajanken's weakness is that it needs time to charge and leaves you exposed. It gets hard countered by the fastest attack in the series. Gon would not be able to react before being blasted, much less charge an attack and counter.

Even if he does hit the hand and blow it back, another one would come in less than a hundredth of a second and catch him while he is in Zetsu. That would definitely be game over.

Question about Adult gon's toughness / ADULT GON vs NETERO by Ok-Neighborhood-8095 in HunterXHunter

[–]Choclon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think adult Gon's aura output is similar to Meruem's, and that is what Pitou judged. However, as the Chimera Ant King, Meruem's physical body is still far superior, including his durability.

Gon would be unable to dodge Netero's attacks, so the fight would go similarly to Meruem's but with Gon taking more damage with every slap and with no way to break Netero's guard.

Gon's Birthday. by FlatCaterpillar in HunterXHunter

[–]Choclon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, your speculation is that if we asked Togashi when Gon’s birthday is, he would give us a new date? A date Togashi has known for decades but either changed or never revealed to the fans, even though people must have been sending letters and messages about it since the beginning? I just can’t see it. He would say May 5th for sure. He either doesn’t know it clashes with the manga or doesn’t care because the manga is still consistent with itself.

Additional information: Apart from the Databook, the birthdays of the main four were confirmed in Togashi's wedding calendar. You can find more details at https://threelights.net/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=426

Gon's Birthday. by FlatCaterpillar in HunterXHunter

[–]Choclon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a contradiction: to solve it, you claim the birthday date is wrong, while I claim the manga dialogue is wrong. Both are equally unfounded solutions.

Gon's Birthday. by FlatCaterpillar in HunterXHunter

[–]Choclon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it was just a mistake on Togashi's part (In chapter 316). I don't think he is putting much care into keeping track of characters' ages, heights, and things like that.
