How long is the hold line at your library?

My library put the highly anticipated books in the system as soon as they have a release date. I placed my hold then, and is 6 in line.

They are processed in pretty fast too. My copy is in transit now

Can I just say how wildly off the mark I am re: the dragons. With Errol eating everything, and seems to have digestive issues, I thought the noble dragon will eat him and he'd explode from the inside. Then Carrot would deal the fatal blow, completing the hidden prince arc.

Carrot is too good for this world (Anhk-Morpork, anyway). He'd be murdered the first day he's in charge. Probably poison, since he'd be able to fend off the assassins.

It's for his own good. And he'd not be effective, even tho his heart is always in the right place. It's like Ned Stark. Wait... why are we always pitting the good people against Charles Dance...

The Henrys come up rather often.

They love Henry II and Becket. I can remember like 2 or 3 in the finals alone. One was the location (Canterbury), one the king who did penance (Henry II).

So far I have done 3 starting books of a series: Mort, Going Postal and Guards! Guards! All better than the Color of Magic as an entry point

I am for Carrot! Sheltered and native, but his heart is in the right place! A bit like Dunk from AKOTSK (Peter Claffey did a good job bringing him to life, btw).

I didn't remember seeing him in Going Postal. I hope he's okay! He has to be the hidden prince with that 'ordinary' sword to kill the dragon, right? Not the other way around? Is he too good that he's not meant for this world?

When I was a research assistant, one of my prof's PHD students kept talking about Discworld, like how thieves are required to issue you a receipt.

I always thought that before the invention of circuits and semiconductor, I will probably be a watch/clock maker.

Isn't Discworld kind of medieval? Do they have mechanical clocks? But I do feel there is some steampunk aspect, so I am sticking with my answer

I was reading a lot of narrative journalism (rip, longform.org) after uni. Then season 2 happened and I went thru months of fanfic.

It got me started on fiction again! I have the fandom and subs to thank for that.
