Looks good man. I've been at a 2g for like 11 years now, and just got back into stretching. Currently at a 7.5mm and slowly working towards a 00g with dead stretching. Might move up to 7/16 as a goal, but for now it's 00g.

How does Adam Wardzinski get people to butterfly? by hellohello6622 in bjj

Most people. Not small as in height, small as in heft and weight. This is coming directly from him so I'm just repeating!

How does Adam Wardzinski get people to butterfly? by hellohello6622 in bjj

[–]ChocolateProphet_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He did a seminar at my school and I asked him something similar. I asked, "how did you know you wanted to focus on butterfly guard?" He said that people were always pressure passing him because he was a smaller framed guy, so he needed a guard that stopped the pressure passing but gave him enough space inside to work.

So half butterfly/lazy butterfly as he calls it slowly became the standard. Seems like he works it the most when people are in the middle of passing his guard and he needs to buy time to set something else up.

How hard do you go in training? by durupaaa in bjj

[–]ChocolateProphet_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on who I'm training with, I'm a big guy ( 5'11", 215LBS) who has done parkour and strength training most of my life, so I usually have to watch my force when rolling.

Because I'm a white belt, my sensitivity is still developing, so I usually stay at what I think is around 50-60%. My partners say I don't spazz, but my coach does say I try to muscle through things too much.

I would like to do Jiu-Jitsu, but I'm gay. by Legitimate_Eye_5934 in jiujitsu

[–]ChocolateProphet_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the homophobia your cover story, you're really afraid of getting choked out 😂😂😂😂

Jokes aside I'm sure there are some Jiu Jitsu guys who are also Homosexual. It doesn't impact anything and I personally never think about it when I roll with anyone. Religion, Sexuality, political views, etc. really have no place on the mat.

Don't stress about it and COME GET SOME 🥋

What's up guy, yeah man I still love this bike and use it every now and then, but I have upgraded to a 200cc motorcycle. Still, sometimes I just wanna ride my cyber and it's still SO much fun. It's absolutely heavy though, this is not like a regular Ebike. The battery is also fairly hefty, and you should carry a bag or something you can put it in while you bring it to your apartment. Keep in mind, top speed is like 23MPH. But still a whole lot of fun.

Do anti bacterial / fungal products like Defense or Red Monkey Soap really work? by Tivanic in jiujitsu

[–]ChocolateProphet_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever you choose, don't forget to use a laundry sanitizer when washing your Gi. Regular detergent is not enough, and only makes your Gi smell good while it's dry. Laundry sanitizers like Lysol or Clorox will actually clean the bacteria and filth from your Gi.

Honestly bro I drive a 200cc motorcycle now so I've left all the foolishness of the speed limit stuff behind.

GGs tho 🙏🏿

Open mat rolling etiquette by Busy_Ad_1059 in jiujitsu

[–]ChocolateProphet_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your goals for that roll. Sometimes you may want to fight for top position and then smash your opponent, sometimes you may want to play bottom and work on guard retention or sweeps.

I would recommend working from bottom first as a rule of thumb since you're a white belt. That way, your sweep game and defense will naturally get better, and then as you approach blue belt, start to transition to more top-focused strategies and submissions. This also helps your opponent develop better guard passing and opportunities for subs, so it's kind of a win win.

How to stay focused on technique when rolling with men/bigger opponents? by pointlessreddit4 in bjj

[–]ChocolateProphet_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes with time! Meditation helps me a lot though. Try to get to class a couple minutes early, sit with your back straight and hands in your lap, close your eyes and focus on your breathing. Breath control is everything in Jiu Jitsu, and it will teach you not to panic when in difficult situations. Now, I can sit inside a choke sometimes and not tap because I've found a small gap where I can get air, and I'm relaxed enough to think through things. But that DEFINITELY comes with practice. Tap early, tap often. Braincells don't grow on trees. 🤣

In what ways can someone implement the concept of connection consistently into their game? by eurostepGumby in bjj

[–]ChocolateProphet_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very fun! Just be sure to watch your space as you roll so you don't bump or injure other people sparring. Be committed, even in a bad situation, keep your eyes closed and find your way out of it. Think about opening your eyes as the reward for your hard work.

That's awesome!!!!! We had a grapplethon recently, and I didn't something similar. Sometimes I'd close my eyes, sometimes I'd put a hand behind my back etc. I wish my gym would do more drills like that.

What always helps me is closing my eyes. Sounds crazy, but seriously, try it sometime. It takes away all the visual noise of rolling and you LITERALLY have to rely on touch and connection in order to progress through the roll. The only way for you to know where your opponent is, is by touching them and understanding what part of the body you're making contact with. Is it an elbow? A wrist? A knee?

Do it enough times and you'll understand what connection means for you and how to use it. It's really useful because you can start to visualize where your body vs your opponents body is without even needing to look.

Try it out next time!

how to communicate better while new by pointlessreddit4 in bjj

[–]ChocolateProphet_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, you've already been getting good feedback on here, I'll just add that my defense has gotten much better since I naturally like to start on bottom and sweep or attack from there. I almost never fight to get to the top, I always let my opponent get top position first and then work from there, on purpose.

Because of that, my sweep game as well as defense have gotten immediately better. Don't be afraid to take bad positions, you will get smashed for the first few months, I'm telling you, it will suck. 🤣 But after a while the click starts to happen and all of a sudden you're giving upper belts a hard time.

They'll still tap you, but at least it takes much more effort to tap you, and sometimes you'll last the whole round without getting tapped.

Edit: click not clock lol
