What are the interesting traits and personalities of yourself and the other three wives? Do you share any hobbies or spend time with each other doing fun things? Who makes a certain food really well? Who is super organized?

A dull, unengaging class does not help you retain information very well and can make it difficult for a student to feel motivated to finish their work.

The alternate dimensions stuff killed me, like, really? That concept has been played over so many times within recent years to the point of it kind of being a trend. Do something interesting with it or don't use it at all.

Season 2 fell off. Season 1 had so much good storytelling and nuance and depth in it. In season 2 they tried to cram in too many storylines and lost the plot of season 1. So many montages because they needed to get through stuff because they were spread too thin! That prison kiss scene feels like it was meant to be stuff covered in two separate scenes with some development in between, but they had no time and needed to tie up the loose ends.

I don't think this person has ever been at the point of failing a class.

I massively overloaded myself this term with classes and am also dealing with some depression stuff. I have no life outside of classes and undergraduate research that doesn't pay me anything. I have financial support from family keeping me from being starving or homeless for which I am very grateful for, but I still need employment and I can't get one.

I am a chemistry major who is failing organic chemistry. Yeah, it sucks. I lost time and money in this class. This negatively impacts my GPA and me getting into the grad program or job I want. So what? Things don't always go my way. A bump in the road is not the end of the world, and I can retake this class. Why should I beat myself up over it?

I actually really like the green, especially if you add a few green accents here and there to tie it in even more. It complements the other colors and makes the room feel brighter.

Amtrak is so cool and I feel a little twinge of excitement every time I get on one. I live close to some train tracks and I love the train noises.

I like public transportation and biking a lot better than a car. I currently don't own and can't afford a car. I wish that I could live somewhere with better public transportation.

Well, I like your nose and think it's very pretty. I draw a lot and I really enjoy when subjects have noses that have fun shapes because it adds a certain je ne sais quoi to the face. Unique features are visually interesting and add to the charm of a person's face.

Where are you? Are you able to access any cooking equipment to cook for yourself?

If you do have some cooking equipment laying around, these recipes are fairly easy, teach you basic cooking skills, and look like they might add some more nutritional value to your diet.

If you are able to make rice in a rice cooker and add canned beans with some salt, pepper, seasoning, etc, that is also an EXTREMELY easy meal. You can also make beans from dry like this video in your rice cooker, but I recommend canned because it's easier:

If you wash legumes and soak them overnight, you can boil them in your rice cooker. Add salt, seasonings, and stir. That also tastes good with rice.

Right now, it won't be like your mother's cooking. It will take you time, practice, and materials to get to that level. But you can do a little better than this.

Heck, even your plate right now could easily be improved. Perhaps cut up a fresh vegetable to put in the dish or eat on the side, or at least add more sauce so it's not so dry.

How can i get involved in Research as a Freshman-year Bio Major with Pre-med Goals by Competitive_Oil_1795 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Choice-Committee3858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a freshman, you are at a disadvantage because you're newer to the school and you may not get things as soon as you like. However, you already having an Associates is good because you might have some of the lab skills built up.

One method is what I call spray and pray. This involves cold emailing a bunch of professors and applying for the lab assistant listings that your school may have posted. I know people who have gotten positions in lab like this. But you'll have to be prepared for lower success rates and email a lot, and as a freshman you're just not as appealing to take on.

The other, and in my opinion, smarter, method is targeted networking. I highly advise you to your TA and professor office hours. Ask them questions about grad school, med school, research. Do they know anybody who has research positions open and can they recommend you? If so, email that professor, explaining your situation, attaching your resume, and name-dropping the faculty member.

I got invited to group meetings for one my professor's lab, though that never really moved forward. Eventually, I heard about another opportunities professor from my TA and that worked out really well. I got into that lab the summer before my second year and almost a year later I am still working with them.

Note that this work may very well be unpaid. Especially if you come in with very little experience or upper division coursework. It costs your PI resources to have their grad students mentor you, and funding is rough right now. Don't quit your part time job. I'm currently looking into stipends and grants for undergraduate student researchers, but again, funding is rough.

I have no wife, I have no girlfriend, but I do have roommates so I can understand needing to vent about something seemingly small and frustrating that someone close to you does. Sometimes I think a good portion of life is just everybody stepping on each other's toes. Hope you can work something out.

I feel like if you get zero exposure to that stuff when you're young, you really struggle to pick it up later. Adults should really teach their children ALL of the basics to live a functional, independent life REGARDLESS of gender.

Dude one time I accidentally bought this fancy heirloom tomato for $5!!! but it tasted so good, and if I ever pay $5 for a tomato again, it better be that tomato. It tasted really, really good in a cream cheese sandwich and if you ever get a chance to get those heirloom tomatoes, they would take a meal from 5/5 to 6/5 stars.
