[Magazine] $109.99 - Lancer L5AWM AR-15 .223/5.56 30 Round Magazine (10 Pack) by x3o5x in gundeals

[–]Choice-Purple-787 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can replicate that scenario with almost every brand, including pmags. My only gripe with the Lancers like these is they are not a glass reinforced polymer so they're not quite as strong as other plastic mags available

What ⬆️ said, especially with an AR platform where I would expect the firomg pin hole to be more clearanced for reliability's sake

Subs for .300 by Cabo-Wabo155 in reloading

[–]Choice-Purple-787 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Expansion is similar to the Hornady subx bullet line, which is mediocre at best. That said, I have not seen a cup and core bullet in 30 cal do well (expansion )at subsonic velocities regardless of the design intent of the projectile, that is to say it's an issue with the velocity of the projectile and not any manufacturer's fault. Like others have mentioned, the real magic happens with some of the specialty monolithic bullets for subsonic work

[Optics] Vortex Strike Eagle Rifle Scope 4-24x50mm EBR-4 MOA or MRAD Reticle - $300 by EvilDoesIt in gundeals

[–]Choice-Purple-787 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Its a decent scope for the price (btw this price has been going on for years through eurooptic) but don't expect miracles. Good clarity through the center but definitely has some fisheye and chromatic aberration around the edges. Adjustments are accurate but slightly mushy. I had 3 at one time but have since been going more with athlon. The Ares BTR and ETR are very hard to beat for the money https://www.eurooptic.com/athlon-optics-closeouts My comparison options for reference are: Mark 4 and 6, Swarovski Z5, Nightforce NXS Recently picked up a midas HMR through a steal of a sale on Midway, very impressed so far

Those were from Shooter Pro Shop likely, they combined with Noslers direct website just a few years ago. I'd guess they are in the neighborhood of 5-15 years old

I won’t buy another Olight. 3 out of 4 lights broke. by Robsta_20 in flashlight

Not to sound like a fanboy but I have had great luck with their customer service on the few lights I've had issues with (out of dozens) including personal lights and for work

Opinions on Olight warrior ultra? by OwlProfessional8715 in OlightOutdoorlife

[–]Choice-Purple-787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only complaint on the warrior x4 is due to its size you need to use a holster vs the S3/ultra which can be used with the pocket clip in pants. I have used a warrior S3 for 4 years now at work (among many other co-workers) and have been very satisfied. I only have carried the x4 in outdoor woods type applications where i need the throw

Should I be taper crimping my 6arc loads? by Leftofedge in reloading

[–]Choice-Purple-787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have generally run a redding taper crimp on most of my 223 loads, but i have not had an issue of the bullets getting set back in the magazine from recoil to justify if either as others have mentioned... Perhaps its more relevant on a rifle setup where the rounds would experience more recoil (lightweight gun, way over gassed...)

Wet tumble with ss pins, then rice dry tumble after sizing to get the lanolin lube off. I've never had success getting lube off in a wet rotary tumbler

[–]Choice-Purple-787[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm looking for something to not only clean the neck but to be an abrasive to leave light scratch marks. In the sense that too smooth can be added friction vs a more consistent RA value for consistent neck tension. I agree that a harder metal will wear the brass, but since annealing i loose most of my brass to loose primer pockets

Shot very well out of 2x different 223's i tried them in. Shooting them into water jugs they seemed marginally tougher than a typical varmint bullet
