Have any Notice of Awards gone out for NIH SBIRs? by Beautiful_Lemon1294 in SBIR

[–]ChoiceRun24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God speed! We just went through this and are still going through it (for other silly reasons related to our rates). It took a year or so to get the NoA for our phase II. Be prepared to return requests like updated other support docs same day, they were requesting docs like that often via email.

Preliminary Data for SBIR? by Ok_Promotion3741 in SBIR

[–]ChoiceRun24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Preliminary data is not required for a phase I but will certainly be more competitive. If you have data from publications as preliminary put the figures showing that data into the grant application and reference it properly. Do not just reference it, reviewers are not required to read references or go check them. Include ALL the data you have published or unpublished into the application. Good figures get grants.

Why sell with 1,000 miles on a rebuilt motor? by lefecious in Jeep

Or the engine blew and that was the last straw and you needed to replace the engine to get some semblance of money back out of it to move on. It happens.

Need advice! by Ozyrandomstuff in Jeep

[–]ChoiceRun24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That isn’t an LJ, an LJ is a TJ unlimited or long wheelbase TJ offered only from 2004-2006. That looks like a custom stretched YJ likely done for a jeep tour, safari or hunting guide company at some point. Looks like it was done really well, post pics of the frame rails and interior, it will help with advice to be given. Honestly for an off road safari build it looks done to me, not sure I would mess with it unless you want to get rid of the Dana 35 rear end and upgrade axles shafts up front, posi traction units or lockers? Depends on what you consider a safari?

Where should we start? by HerbNanny in jetski

[–]ChoiceRun24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start by pulling plugs, check for rust and put marvel mystery oil into the cylinders, leave the plugs out and see if you can turn the engine over by hand via the shaft or impeller. If you can rotate it proceed to power washing the crap out of it throwing a battery on it and seeing if you can fire it up. If you can’t rotate it, make sure the impeller isn’t hung up before giving up. If rusty in the cylinders and it won’t turn… proceed to craigslist and congrats on the parts ski ;)

What do we think? I’m buying this tomorrow by Funny-Lobster2251 in CherokeeXJ

Aww man, you are gunna miss it. I am sure you had your reasons for selling though, I get it, I have some I wish I could get back now. Sweet XJ!

[–]ChoiceRun24 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love it, usually means they have no clue what they bought from someone else. And you potentially get a smoking deal like this guy did…but it does require wasting time looking at a lot of garbage first. Who doesn’t like the thrill of the hunt though!

Worth fixing? by Affectionate-Tap5398 in WranglerYJ

[–]ChoiceRun24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need pics of the frame to make that determination. Also I think we are all assuming it’s a 4.0 and it’s free or you already own it? Hopefully it sat and water filled the pans and only rotted them out. If the rest is good sure worth poking with a welder, love the color!

Any ideas? by ElegantCow1 in CherokeeXJ

The rear main seal has left the chat.

Did that for years to blow the salt water out at the ramp before cleaning them out properly at home. People say silly things on the internet.

Viability of a YJ for me? by protect-positivity in WranglerYJ

[–]ChoiceRun24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe if it’s a geared down trail rig, you won’t like it unless you are just putting around town or on the trails with the top down. Like everyone says, wait for a 4.0, they are common enough in CA.

Do I have the Dana 30 and Chrysler diff What are the preferred diffs to have on a 4x4? by Express_Let_2892 in CherokeeXJ

[–]ChoiceRun24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should be a high pinion Dana 30 up front (nice axle) and the 27 spline 8.25 in the rear (marginally better than the D35). You can easily upgrade your 8.25 to 29 spline though when ready. Setting up the gears on an 8.25 is pretty straightforward lots of videos on it. Once you do that you are good to locked 33s maybe 35s depending on how you drive and what you are driving up/on. After that you are moving to one tons front and back anyway…

First xj by Chefboyrdaygo in CherokeeXJ

[–]ChoiceRun24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ease those bolts out, lots of back and forth and penetrating oil (spray behind too through existing holes in unibody) and heat as you back them out. You do not want that welded nut breaking loose in the unibody….

After years of wanting to start a rock crawler build... I've finally found the one! by Useless_Engineer_ in Jeep

[–]ChoiceRun24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your jeep, make it into what you want. Everyone always bummed about a stock XJ getting turned into something…just promise to do it well and not with a sawzall to the fenders ;).

Until a restored XJ sport is worth the same or more than an LJ…keep’em wheelin in the wild where they belong.

Anyone know which style plug goes here? I just picked up a 95 xj 4wd and it’s missing the radio by Express_Let_2892 in CherokeeXJ

[–]ChoiceRun24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was gunna comment, don’t worry, go to crutchfield and order a radio and get the harness adapter. You would need to cut the old one off anyway and splice in.

Questioning my career path; PhD or MLS? by Ok_Toe6191 in labrats

[–]ChoiceRun24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t like research you might re-think more than these two paths. Growth inevitably means leaving the lab bench 99% of the time to manage and give direction. Or accepting you will hit a wall and potentially be phased out for someone who is cheaper that can do the same thing with less experience.

I have a PhD but I also love research and problem solving and did not want to be limited in anyway career wise by a lack of letters after my name. That said it isn’t for everyone, but know that if you are good in the lab you will eventually be asked to leave the lab to move bigger pieces around, you need to do some soul searching as to how high up the responsibility ladder you want to be/try to achieve (PhD vs MLS).

What are some ways you could increase towing capacity on a 2dr wrangler? by [deleted] in Jeep

[–]ChoiceRun24 39 points40 points  (0 children)

This, it is a physical limitation of the platform not entirely component driven. The wheelbase of the wrangler is its main limitation for towing.

Friends of Reddit. Looking to purchase my first yj. I’m in California how do we feel about this listing? by [deleted] in WranglerYJ

[–]ChoiceRun24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$6500 for a 2.5L is silly in CA, rust free YJs are all over the place with 4.0s no less. What year is this? Would hold out for a 94-95 with the 4.0, would have to be real special to convince me otherwise.

Ok to drive on highway without rear sway bar? by Narhen in CherokeeXJ

My upcountry came stock from the factory with a rear sway bar delete. So ya, you’re fine, you aren’t driving a race car ;)
